CareerRe: Why Are Professionals So Underpaid In Nigeria? by YoruIgbo(m): 1:05am On Aug 08, 2011
OP, why are you judging this salary thing from one angle? Yes the professionals earn far lesser in Nigeria but they save lot more from that small money than you and your huge take home abroad!! I live and work in the UK and my brother forget all those plenty money, at the end of the month most people in western world live on loan, credit card and overdraft.
The problem with Nigeria is not to do with salary, it's just for Government to create jobs and empower the youth, provide the basic things like good road, electricity and kick out corruption shikena!

There is nothing in Nigeria that has sustainability so soon and very soon Nollywood will go like the others did. O'boy why are you so quick to look for trouble. Abi your television no get signal?
My theory on African slavery is not conclusive. Anyone can enter slavery in the olden days through any means. However, before the days of the white man, slavery was far less an enterprise as it became in that era. People could enter into slavery throuh any means, "war, crime, false accusations, or siimply by kidnapping". Remember in African slavery, Slaves were still human beings and were treated decently. They became part of one's family, could be granted freedom, could be declared heirs/heiresses or the sons/daughters to/of their master. In the days prior to the advent of the Europeans, slaves were valuable commodities.

It wasn't until the 1700s that you saw the massive slave lines and convoys with chains and etc. Now, let me be, I wasn't referring to you in any of my posts abeg.
Ok no vex grin grin Your blood don start to hot because I disagree with your comment, person like you no fit go senate o because you no fit share views but I know say you go fit share money sha, Na play I dey play with you no vex
PoliticsRe: When Did Corruption Start In Nigeria? by YoruIgbo(m): 5:02am On Aug 06, 2011
In the beginning there was corruption and corruption was with Nigeria and Corruption was Nigeria. Corruption was with Nigerian in the beginning. Corruption became a way of life and dwelled amongst all Nigerians. Without Nigerians the world corruption will reduce by half for Nigerians make up  50% of world corruption population and remove Nigeria from Africa then you would have successfully cleaned Africa of corruption.

Therefore Corruption was born the day Nigeria was born hence we all have corruption in our DNA!! and this cannot be change for Idiagbon tried to fight it and fail and Buhari said he will fight it but lost last election. Ribadu tried but ended up in Afghanistan. The more we try to fight corruption the more corrupt we become

Slavery, atleast in African terms was not corrupt. It was simple and justifiable. People did not sell their own people as yoou stated, usually they sold those who were thieves, war prisoners and etc. Slavery in olden times was a natural means of survival.

Corruption is evident in every governemnt. Even in the United States, which many praise as heaen on earth, corruption is present. Wasn't Murdoff the man who embezzeled $700m in public funds? But I digress, as for Nigeria, mass corruption started in the 70s.
F9 means fail !!! Focus your answer to the question. Nobody asked you to explain the origin of corruption or which other country is corrupt
PoliticsRe: When Did Corruption Start In Nigeria? by YoruIgbo(m): 4:24am On Aug 06, 2011
Corruption was there in the beginning, Village head sold their people to slavery and got guns, clothes, shoes and mirrors in return, this was a corrupt practice.

PoliticsRe: Shell Accepts Responsibility For Oil Spills In Ogoniland by YoruIgbo(m): 1:16am On Aug 05, 2011
Abuja - A United Nations report has criticised Shell and the Nigerian government for contributing to 50 years of pollution in a region of the Niger Delta which it says needs the world's largest ever oil clean-up, costing an initial $1-billion and taking up to 30 years.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) analysed the damage oil pollution has done in Ogoniland, a region in the oil-rich labyrinthine creeks, swamps and waterways of the Niger Delta, the heartland of Africa's largest oil and gas industry.

Royal Dutch Shell and the Nigerian state-oil firm own most of the oil infrastructure in Ogoniland, although the Anglo-Dutch giant was forced out of operating in the region by communities in 1993 who said it caused pollution that destroyed their fishing environment.

Shell stopped pumping oil from Ogoniland after a campaign led by writer and activist Ken Saro-Wiwa, who was later hanged by the Nigerian military government, provoking international outrage.

“The environmental restoration of Ogoniland could prove to be the world's most wide-ranging and long term oil clean-up exercise ever undertaken,” a UNEP report released on Thursday said.

“Control and maintenance of oilfield infrastructure in Ogoniland has been and remains inadequate: the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) own procedures have not been applied, creating public health and safety issues.”

The UNEP report said 10 out of the 15 investigated sites which SPDC said they had completely remediated still had pollution exceeding the SPDC and government remediation values.

Shell, which on Wednesday agreed that an Ogoni community could seek compensation for oil spills in a British court, says most oil spills in the Niger Delta are caused by oil theft and sabotage attacks but says it cleans up whatever the cause.

“Oil spills in the Niger Delta are a tragedy, and SPDC takes them very seriously,” Mutiu Sunmonu, SPDC's Managing Director, said in a statement on its website.

“Concerted effort is needed on the part of the Nigerian government, working with oil companies and others, to end the blight of illegal refining and oil theft in the Niger Delta . This is the major cause of the environmental damage.”

A spokesperson for the company said it welcomed the report and would comment further after studying the details.

UNEP said Ogoniland communities are exposed to hydrocarbons every day as thick black oil floats around the creeks, while the impact on vegetation and fishing areas has been “disastrous”.

In one community, drinking water was contaminated with benzene, a substance known to cause cancer, at levels over 900 times above the World Health Organisation guidelines. The site was close to a pipeline owned by Nigeria's state-oil firm NNPC, the report said.

“We will undertake any clean-up. It doesn't mean we are culpable. Pipeline vandalism, by the very communities who are affected, is the major issue,” an NNPC spokesperson said. He said he had not read the report.

While Shell does not operate in Ogoniland anymore, its pipelines and other infrastructure remain and still suffer spillages and sabotage attacks.

UNEP's report is the most detailed scientific study on any area in the Niger Delta, UNEP and rights groups said. It was paid for partly by Shell after a request by the government. - Reuters

FamilyRe: Why Do Girls Add Weight Or Get Fat In Their Huuby's House. by YoruIgbo(m): 12:08am On Aug 05, 2011
The answer is very simple

Most women do their ultmost best to stay slim when single because they want to look slim to attract Mr Right, As soon as they get married keeping slim will now drop down in the list of priorities and things like I want Kids will take over and since they now have the Mr Right they are keeping slim to have so why worry again.
Also to have kids need better food and nourishment and before you know it over feeding will take over and then comes sex  grin and if you get non-fatty sperm like mine then you are lucky! Some men has excess supply of fat in their sperm and the moment you start receiving that kind of sperm you will blow up  grin
Finally, I know some men that love fat women and after marriage they will send their wife to a 'fatten Room' room  grin because most Black men love flesh, contours and curves.

I forgot to mention that some women from poor background don't visit the Mr Biggs of this world very often when single and God bless you if your hubby is rich chop chop and sweet mouth go follow am

It might just worth pointing out here that the Company we are talking about here is called SPDC grin grin and Not the Shell oil Giant. Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) is a joint venture between the Nigerian government (55%), Shell (30%) and Total E&P Nigeria Limited (10%) and the Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited (5%).

So when it comes to who is responsible for this Spill, it is the above named companies under the name SPDC with the Shell oil Giant having 30% Share
PoliticsRe: Shell Accepts Responsibility For Oil Spills In Ogoniland by YoruIgbo(m): 4:24am On Aug 04, 2011
In Nigeria, Oil bunkering is a big business and the easiest way to steal oil from the oil and gas operator is by simply blow off the oil pipeline and that will cause the affected oil company to shut in or stop flow through that pipeline. The moment the bunkerer confirm no flow, they will connect their own pipeline and bury it in the ground and eventually when the oil company resume production, some of the oil produced will flow to this bunkeres storage tank.
grin cheesy grin grin Cool business and if unexpected happen, people go roast like goat or better still it will cause oil spill and they will blame oil companies for it

Did Shell also vandalise all the electric transformers in Ogoni Land? I was in Bodo few years ago and I saw it with my eyes how the people stole their own electric cables and transformer and now they blame shell for oil spill, Poor Shell, they better run off from Nigeria because very soon they will be blamed for corruption and all the political stealing that is going on in Nigeria

PoliticsRe: 5 Reasons Why America Is Worse Than Nigeria by YoruIgbo(m): 10:32pm On Jul 24, 2011
trueword:
when I talk about culture I am mainly talking about language. Language is a big part of your cultural identity. I did not say kids living abroad will not learn culture. The point I am trying to make is that when you see other immigrant groups who are in west, many of their children can speak and understand their native language. but for some reason many nigerian parents refuse to teach their children their native language and even boast that their children only hears english. They will even be impressed that their child knows how to speak spanish or some other langugage even though their child can't hear their own native language. If the child can speak and understand their native language they will at least always know where they come from.

This rising trend is a recipe for destroying ones own identity. These kids today who can't speak their own language will grow up and not be able to teach their kids their language. This trend will continue until the language goes extinct.

Latinos, Chinese and other groups have stuck with their language so well that many applications  have both english, and spanish and sometimes mandarin written. If those groups threw their language away you wouldn't be seeing this occur on an increasing trend.

When I think about why other immigrant groups are able to keep their language despite living in west, I ask why not nigerians. The only reason I can think of is that many nigerians have some level of inferiority complex. They believe their language is less than, so they easily let it go.
I thought as much when I replied first but anyway we are all guilty whether you live abroad or in Naija, In Nigeria I have friends, brothers and cousins whose children can't speak any other language apart from ENGLISH and not even pigin english like rest of us
