That is an even bigger inferiority complex that is being suffered by those in Nigeria that throw their language away. Throwing ones language away and only speaking English is not smart. One of main reasons people do that is they feel inferior and don't put value on what they have.

Please read what I wrote before writing this rubbish. I never said Nigerians couldn't have their culture AND another. I said they shouldn't throw theirs away. With the way its going in next few generations many of the language in Nigeria will probably be going extinct. Again, why is it that others like Chinese, Indians, etc all cling on to their culture, while Nigerians forget about theirs because they feel speaking English and forgetting their native language makes them feel superior.
Please can you exp-antiate more on these culture you are talking about? I have lived in both igbo and Yoruba land and I still struggle to understand or see these culture in any of our society. In igbo land we have stopped worshipping amadioha and in youbaa land no more sango, ogun and oya so what other tradition are we missing out from? is it respect your elders? smoking and drinking? abi na dressing? abeg please educate me on the culture my kids will miss out from if they live abroad

The problem with Nigerians abroad and maitaining their culture has to do with inferiority complex. Why is it that many other immigrant groups stick close to their culture, while many Nigerians will throw theirs into the bush.
Rubbish!!! I know loads of Nigerians in Lagos, Abuja and Portharcourt with Kids who don't speak their language, who hasn't gone to their village for one reason or the other, in fact all they speak is English sometimes because parent don't even speak the same language but trust me I know families in the UK with kids that understand Nigerian culture more than most Nigerian children simply by coming home once a year!!

7) Nigerian Senate Members earn salary 10 times more than their USA counterpart

cool GEJ earn salary more than OBAMA, CAMERON, SARKOZY, MERKEL all put together

9) Nigerian politician can wack bribe at will and can only be prosecuted if they fall out with the Executive

During the 60s and 70s, the moment a Nigerian completes his or her studies abroad they will return back home to take up a job, is that the case now? in fact Graduate in Nigeria with godfathers can't even get a job talk less of you from yankee grin Have you provided jobs and people refuse to return home and live in Naija? or are you expecting all of us to return and become politicians? Omo abeg make una leave this matter abeg because me I dey vex or do you guys think people prefer to live abroad? we all know that home is the best but in this case some people don't think Nigeria is home so you don't have to force them

i know why they cant post on AMERICALAND and DOLLARLAND. they are too preoccupied with the daily grind of american life that they dont have the rest of mind, peace of mind, presence of mind, and time to come up with their own website grin bros living in america gives you no time to think. i can imagine seun all relaxed after eating a huge plate of amala and ewedu and orishi rishi meat and washing it down with guiness. then with nothing else to do he just goes into his study abi na boysquarters and puts this website together with rest of mind. he not worrying about mortgage payment or property taxes or student loans. his mind is free to wander and rest. see those in america can never have that kinda rest of mind to come up witth nairaland. the moment you start getting rest of mind, post man comes up and throws 4 bills on your lap grin
You guys must really think every Nigerian that lives abroad are hustlers!! Have you ever heard of a Nigerian as Expat in US, UK etc? Some of these Nigerians couldn't get any kind of job in Nigeria but they were lucky to leave Naija and in the western world today they are consultant, chartered engineers representing big companies all over the world.
My advice to you all is where ever you find yourself please try and make the best of it. I know taxi drivers in Naija that are graduates my brother is in that category and I know graduates in Nigeria that are jobless so , do your best and leave the rest. No need for this unnecessary bad belle for people living in the USA or American people

yeah like all the hard working nigerians who control their taxicabs in chicago grin they are all hardworking. they drive for 12 hours a day.
And what is wrong in driving cab in chicago? I bet the cab they drive is lot lot better than your so called 'clean second hand begium car' you drive in Nigeria as a big boy. Same you will flash this taxi driver and tell him to call you that you have no credit, and when he calls eventually you will beg him for money, Lazy people
RomanceRe: What Is The Difference Between A Relationship And A Friendship? by YoruIgbo(m): 1:41pm On Jul 23, 2011
Mathematically, F(x) = Friendship Type, where x = relationship  grin grin

For example is relationship = bedmatics then the friendship can be described as 'boyfriend or girlfried' but if relationship has no intimate content then friendship will be just friends or my friend

Also if relationship involves one party spending money on the other, it could be described as 'My Mugu' 'My Alhaji', 'Aristo', sugar daddy etc

Remember Police is your friend but in the case the relationship is of one party giving bribe and the other party accepting without doing any work other than slapping and harrassing you if you don't co-operate

if you tell me what the relationship is then factor it into the equation above and you can get the type of friendship. I hope this is clear

1. A lazy Nigerian living in Nigeria will beg
2. A lazy NIgerian living in the USA will wake up and survive
3. A hard working Nigerian living in Nigeria will survive
4. A hard working Nigerian living in USA will LIVE LARGE infact will control things  grin cheesy

USA is land of opportunities but Nigeria kills hope, loads of Nigerians in the UK who are doing well never had a job in Nigeria until they escaped

PoliticsRe: 5 Reasons Why America Is Worse Than Nigeria by YoruIgbo(m): 1:05pm On Jul 23, 2011
I suspect OP is suffering from high fever!! I recommend Dagaquin tablet to cure his condition. Nigeria is almost moving towards a condition of a man who is deaf, dumb and blind and in this case you need God's miracle
PoliticsRe: 5 Reasons Why America Is Worse Than Nigeria by YoruIgbo(m): 10:32am On Jul 23, 2011
The truth here is, if you make Nigeria Visa free to US and UK, the population will reduce by half within a month!! and for those of you in Nigeria, I'm sure you can make Naija a better place and you don't need every Nigerians to come back home to fix things so kindly do it on our behalf and we shall all come back and enjoy with you  grin cheesy

Justlike most of our 'RULERS' my kids have foreign passports and as I share the same vision as most of our rulers in Nigeria. Abi do you think that Nigeria House members wife still deliver their babies in Nigeria Hospitals? No way!! and it's simple not because we don't have good hospital it's simply because they know that Nigeria's future can't be guaranteed

The same Naija men will meet 24 yrs old girl and complain she no get yansh or her breast too small or she no tall or she too short, She no go school, or she no get work, she no get manners, She no sabi phuck, Haba our wahala too much abeg

kalokalo:
I have an aunt who turned down many men's advances for one reason or the other in her heyday. She was very beautiful and no average guy was in her league. She is 44 years old now with no husband and almost drove herself to suicide once. Young sisters, please realize you only have a finite time window with which you have to be taken off the 'market'. As you age, the mating advantage swings over to the men while your options narrow! Its unfortunate but true. You think lots of men are knocking on your door now; a time is coming when they will vanish!

The only ladies I've heard complain about men shortage are in their late twenties and early thirties. Ladies in their late teens to mid twenties do not have this problem. The vast majority of men approach ladies in that age range. There are many single eligible men out there but they won't talk to ladies like the OP when they can pull ladies 10 years younger. All the same, the OP should keep her head high and follow Cuddlemii's advice. Your man will come along as there is nothing God cannot do!
Just listen to yourself!! Why will girls in their teen and late twenties complain of man shortage? when an average Nigerian man sleeping with teen girls just use them as top ups, how many Nigerian man has just 1 woman or girlfriend? So Kalokalo the teen girl who only comes to your house on invitation knows pratically notthing about men so forget them infact you can have 10 teenage girls to yourself alone in Naija no complain but with more matured girls no way!! and because they can't live with you and your multiple women they go solo and then get into the position of OP where they now search for Mr Single grin

The theory that women out number men in Nigeria is not completely true as far as this generation is concerned, especially when used as a reason for many single ladies. The fact is that women are not getting married because most potential husbands are still struggling with the hardship in Nigeria. Also most women are not actually looking for a husband, they are looking for someone to take care of them pay their bills, etc. So they are not looking the way of struggling guys they want already made guys. But the bad news is that before a guy gets made, a smart lady may have hooked-up with him, so he may not remember you again until after the wedding.
Please read all my previous posts, you will realise that I have made comments regarding all the possibilities including the ones you've just posted so that women out number men is just an additional theory

Interesting discussion. No 'beautiful' girl gets to 32 years in Nigeria still single, except she IS the architect of her own misfortune.

Poster must have been (and probably still is) a full-of-herself choosy, 'ambitious' woman who would have crushed the hopes of several struggling young men while aiming for some imaginary perfect knight. I know for a fact that you must be high-maintenance in some way; insisting that you deserve 'the best', and that you wouldn't 'settle for less'. And so the ordinary guys had no chance with you and so left you alone. Now, you'e old, menopause is approaching, and the dusty shelf is where you call home.

Well, you have already settled for less. I advise you to scout for divorcees or widowers. They're the most likely categories of men that would settle for a woman in her 30s. Give up on that Johnny Depp dream.
Na who tell you tell you that one (In bold)? You don try visit penticostal churches when them dey do crusade for marriage? 90% women and infact the solution to reducing Nigerian single women is to legalise female to female marriages  grin
I will suggest we begin a serious campaign to help increase in male child birth rate

cuddlemi, anyway sha I no go talk grin I have pool of singles please OP or any single lady please contact me or indicate interest here and I will reach you with some kind of list
Why all this pray about it? if you ask her to pray what will single female pastors looking for husband do? You people refuse to understand that there is a drastic shortage of eligible bachelors in Nigeria, I know well over 15 good looking jobless Master degrees holder single Nigerian men that can even afford enough cash to rent a room talkless of raising money to marry an IGBO Girl grin grin which is a major project in Naija because IGBO marraiges are not cheap at all but although still cheaper than marrying a Kenya woman

It could be your past reputation. Serious guys ask around before to go after a girl, because just like you want a good husband, they also want a good wife. So if you were once known for having many boy friends, different men dropping you off at home (even if they were just friends), or even dating married men chances are that although you may not be engaging in such activities now, people (including you potential husbands) still remember you by your past. So in that case you need to re-brand yourself or relocate to a new environment.

Also be careful the kind of message you send out. People judge you by your action and not your intentions. For example, if you have a guy visiting your house, people will normally assume that he is a boy friend, so potential husbands will not want to interrupt. Also if you have many guys visiting and dropping you off, people will assume you are a flirt, so potential husbands will simply run away.

Do not expect people to understand that they are just your friends, because they cannot read your heart. Married men are after you because they think you are easy. If you say no and remain firm to one of them they will all disappear. Do not be surprised that all those married men that are asking you out are friends or members of the same club.

You need to re-brand yourself and be mindful of the message you send to potential husbands interested in you. The message should be clear "I am single, available, and everything a man would want in a woman. Make me your wife today and I will make you the happiest husband ever"
i don't agree with that fact that married men go after a woman because she is cheap! but you can say going after married men will make you look cheap but even at that cheap level a lot of single Naija men still won't be able to afford her grin
Married men in Naija go after single girls because there are no enough single men to go round the single women hence married men are helping to solve the single man shortage
