dragnet: It is either the sticker is pealed off or the configurations are just included in the manual. In both cases, someone with experience in Laptops will ask you for the sticker or ensure the manual is included in the pack of the Laptop. It gives more credence making sure the configurations on the sticker and or the Manual match with what the system has inside. After that, one should also, look up the same configurations on the company site with the serial number. Bro, a lot happens in the market I bet you that. Guys are doing alot to make it in Naija. Unless you have someone to help you import directly from Yankee or a reliable dealer here in Naija, one needs to apply caution when buying Laptops especially. Again, a lot happens. Any friend or relative at the computer village who knows will tell you whats up. |

ComingThrough: I wonder if you read the article with comprehension. I was not talking about the symbols but functionality. And I gave you example on that. I said in the article that Keyboard keys could be arranged differently depending on the Laptop but the functionality sticks. For instance, if the key "2" has the "@" symbol on top of it but when you press it holding down SHIFT it gives this " instead of @ then the truth is the system has been tampered with. It is just that. I have been in the market for over 5 years and I understand perfectly well the functionalities. Not every functional Laptop is good. I will take you to some places in Computer village, what you will see will surprise you. If you say I speak gibberish then it is fine. |

Politics / Akwa Ibom APC Chieftain, Accuses Igbos Of Abandoning Gen. Philip Effiong by Youngadvocate(m): 4:33pm On Sep 07, 2017 |
An All Progressives Congress, APC, Akwa Ibom State Chapter Chieftain, Elder Enefiok Ekefre has accused ndi Igbo of abandoning the late Biafra Vice President, General Philip Effiong whom he said eventually died as a rebel. Enefiok said this when he chatted with Vanguard correspondents in Uyo, Ekefre Gen. Effiong was second in command to the late Odumegwu Ojukwu of the defunct Republic of Biafra who signed the ceasefire agreement with the Gowon led Federal Government that led to the end of the Nigeria-Biafra war in 1970. Effiong died in 2003 without Federal Government’s recognition as was accorded Ojukwu. Enefiok wrote: “the Igbos are expecting support forgetting that they all looked the other way and allowed Gen. Effiong who made the historic declaration that ended the bloody civil war to live and die a Biafra rebel while Ojukwu died a Nigerian Army General. “Gen. Philip Effiong, an Ibiono Ibom man, was the Vice President to Ojukwu. Mr. M. U. Akpan, the Secretary to the Government of Biafra (SGB) was also from Ibiono. “Gen. Effiong signed the instrument of surrender but when the Igbo were talking of payment of gratuity and pension, they only presented Gen. Ojukwu and refused to mention Gen. Effiong. “He lived and died a Biafran military officer but Ojukwu’s rank was restored with salaries and gratuity paid from 1966. Today, the Igbo are complaining of marginalization and oppression, forgetting that justice and injustice should not be selective.” He appealed to the Federal Government to make adequate compensation for the family of the late Gen. Effiong, noting that in the spirit of true reconciliation and justice, what was done to Ojukwu should be done to Gen. Effiong. http://igbobia.com/?q=akwa-ibom-apc-chieftain-accuses-igbos-of-abandoning-gen-philip-effiong-see-his-reasons.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

Darkseid: With over 5 years of experience on Laptops sales, from Ikeja Computer Village and some other places, I have full knowledge of what goes on in the market of Laptops in Nigeria. It is regrettable some Nigerians will just read anything on the internet or gain some theoretical knowledge on something and claim they know it all without the practical. 1. Refurbished Laptops ordinarily could mean two things: 1. products that may be unused customer returns that are essentially "new" items, or they may be defective products that were returned under warranty, and resold by the manufacturer after repairing the defects and ensuring proper function. 2. Products that had already depreciated as a result of over-use and are repackaged with some parts and sold again. If you come to the Market, especially here in computer Village, Ikeja, the language that is commonly used to describe "Fake" or "repackaged" laptops that may not last over a year is "REFURBISHED." And that is the word I used in sense 2 above. 2. When you peal off a sticker, I supposed you should as well have all the configurations written down. Someone with experience in Laptops will ask you that. He will check if the configuration match with what the system has inside. After that, he will look up the same configurations on the company site with the serial number. 3. Third Party manufacturers have names and the genuine ones always deal with Laptops companies directly. It is those ones that usually produce substandard, random batteries that can easily fit into many Laptops and are sold at cheaper rate to entice buyers, that I meant in the article. Buy the battery, you can never use it more than a year, it will start having issues because it is not produced in measure with the capacity of the Laptop. On a whole, if you are not in the Market, you may not know how it all operates. There are even more sophisticated ways the top sellers in the market use which I honestly haven't discovered. But, for sure, the ones listed above are sure ways they dupe people with Fake Laptops that may only last for highest 2 years. |

Some perpetually bitter souls will expectedly reject the claim and figures that confirm we're officially out of recession. They are same senseless wailers who rejoiced over the negative statistics that affirmed Nigeria was in recession. How can a set of people be this silly, confused and irrational? NIGERIA IS OUT OF RECESSION. ACCEPT IT OR DRINK RAT POISON! This time last year, a bag of rice was around N26k, today it's btw N14k and N16k. This time last year, a small cup of Gaari was N50, today same measure about N20. This time last year, a dollar was above N500, today it's less than N360. Many other consumer goods have fallen drastically in price. Yet, wailing idiots and pigs would want us to believe otherwise. PMB is shaming them with credible leadership. PMB go rule una and una papa and mama till 2023 wether una like am or not. [/quote] I don't know why you guys (APC and Buhari supporters) can't engage in constructive criticism without denigrating those from the other side Pls, could you point to one single policy of this government that set us out of recession? I think you need to be tutored that a lot of indices play out in pulling a country out of recession. The APC administration has only created more damage on these indices. For one, the increase in GDP and more money in circulation are major indices considerable in pulling an economy out of recession. Now tell me, with ASUU, Resident Doctors, Local Contractors all owned and the first two bodies are on strike, how did the monies circulate to pull us out of recession or how did our GDP so greatly rise that our economy is pulled out of recession? Is it increase in export? What have we produced that was exported since over two years of this administration? Nigerians are naturally blessed with survival insitnct and the figures you put up here are attributed to the resourcefulness of Nigerians. For instance, a lot of Jobless youths have found some startups to build after getting frustrated with unemployment. Dollars can decrease with trading. The prices of goods could have decreased because of low demand; simple economics theory teaches that So, please, before you come here shouting APC, name one single policy they adopted that pulled the economy out of recession. more so, we are waiting to feel the effects from being out of recession 16 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / Police Release Report On Isi-gate Clash Between IPOB And Soldiers by Youngadvocate(m): 8:12pm On Sep 06, 2017 |
The Nigerian Police have released a statement on the clash between tricycle (Keke Napep) drivers and Soldiers at Isi-Gate Umuahia. The report which many have kicked against for its seemingly one-sidedness, reveals that only soldiers were wounded in the encounter while the tricycle drivers have been charged to court. Read the report as released: "On the 4th of September, 2017 at about the hours of 5pm, there occurred a clash between Soldiers attached to 14 Brigade Command Ohafia and tricycle Operators at Isi-Gate Umuahia during which three soldiers got injured and their Hilux van damaged. "The Nigeria Police saddled with the responsibility of ensuring security of lives and property waded into the situation with other military deployments and the situation was brought under control. "However, ten suspects involved have been arraigned in a court of competent jurisdiction where they were admitted to bail. "The Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeleye Oyebade therefore enjoins all and sundry to go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestation as adequate security has been put in place to avert truncation of the peace and tranquility enjoyed in the State." Literature / Chimamanda Adichie Receives Standing Ovation At Endinburgh Int'l Film Festival by Youngadvocate(m): 7:35pm On Sep 06, 2017 |
Nigerian renowned Novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was a celebrity guest at the Edinburgh International Film Festival where she opened up on her sensational new book, “Dear Ijeawele,” her feminism campaign and more. A Scottish Newspaper, scotsman.com reported that she was honoured with a standing ovation when the Audience set their eyes on her. The Newspaper wrote: "Edinburgh being the city it is, standing ovations are rare even at its Book Festival, and handed out as sparingly as its university doles out honorary degrees. So when, at 10:45pm on Saturday night, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s audience stood to applaud her, at the end of a day on which she’d been made an honorary DLitt, it was a rare double indeed." The current First Minister of Scotland and leader of the Scottish National Party, Nicola Ferguson Sturgeon who has been in office since November 2014, a faithful fan of Chimamanda had session of interaction with the Iconic writer. According to scotsman.com, the conversation was warm as it "flowed effortlessly from American racism (“I wasn’t black until I went to the US”) to – naturally – Donald Trump, then historical fiction, the importance of reading, and of ending the stigma of mental illness (Adichie suffers from depression), not least in Nigeria. Wise, witty and wonderful, Adichie deserved that standing ovation." Her session was held on the same day she was awarded an honorary degree by Edinburgh University http://igbobia.com/?q=photos-chimamanda-adichie-receives-standing-ovation-at-endinburgh-intl-film-festival-during-session Lalasticlala, MissyB3, Fynestboi 10 Likes

Politics / Richard Ndubuaku Sues Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB Over Election Boycott by Youngadvocate(m): 2:37pm On Sep 06, 2017 |
A business man in Anambra, Dr. Richard Ndubuaku, has sued the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu at the Federal High Court in Abuja over their plan to boycott the forthcoming gubernatorial election of the state. He is seeking for an injunction from the court in the suit with number FHC/ABJ/ CS/756/2017 to restrain Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB from boycotting the Anambra State governorship election scheduled to hold on November 18. According to Ndubuaku if Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB are allowed to proceed with the planned election boycott, it could result into irreparable damages to him and other innocent citizen who have properties and businesses in Onitsha and other part of the state. In an affidavit he deposed to support the suit, the plaintiff told the court that Kanu and other IPOB members have repeatedly made utterances and threats to stop any form of election in Anambra State and Igbo land. “The defendants (1st and 2nd) are capable of carrying out their threat, and if this happens, many lives will be lost. And properties destroyed, which will include that of the plaintiff. “If the defendants are not restrained, it may lead to confrontation. With other law abiding citizens, who insist on electing their governor and a clash with the defendants will occasion bloodbath as there would be total breakdown of law and order,” Ndubuaku averred. Besides, he prayed the court for an order restraining Kanu and IPOB from further harassing or intimidating eligible voters in Anambra State or mobilising their members to scuttle the planned election. Equally cited as defendants in the suit were the Inspector General of Police, the Commandant General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. Meanwhile, when the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, Justice Babatunde Quadri who is sitting as the vacation Judge, declined to issue ex-parte order as he was prayed to do by the plaintiff. Justice Quadri who is to sit on the case has directed counsel to the plaintiff, Mr. Smart Iheazor to go and notify all the defendants (Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB) by serving them with copies of all the relevant court processes. http://igbobia.com/?q=breaking-anambra-businessman-drags-nnamdi-kanu-ipob-to-court-over-anambra-state-election-boycott-0 3 Likes 1 Share

The level at which Fake or refurbished Laptops we commonly refer to as “CHINA” or “CHINKO” infiltrate our Technology market is deeply worrisome. Many people are robbed of their hard earned money by this as heartless dealers swindle them because they are not informed enough to distinguish between FAKE and ORIGINAL Laptops. What Are Their Common Features Here are the ways you can identify FAKE or Refurbished Laptops. Nevertheless, the features listed below are not exhaustible; you are best advised to identify a trusted dealer. 1. The Keys on their Keyboards are not placed correctly (not in order): Refurbished Laptops usually have their keys function incorrectly. The pattern or position of Keyboard keys is normally 1234567890 QWERTY UIOP ASDFGHJKL…. The numerical keys (1,2,3,4…) usually have other key symbols on top of them that can only be realized holding the “SHIFT” keys simultaneously when pressing them. If for instance key “2” gives anything other than “@” when you press it, then, the system is refurbished. Also, the backlash key with the symbols “\ and|” should follow the key “P,” though the position may vary in computers. If it realizes something different when pressed with “SHIFT”, pls, the system is refurbished. 2. When the Screen Doesn’t fit perfectly: Original Laptops; both new and “London used” have their screens perfectly aligning with their frames. If there is gap between the screen and the frame, then the system is refurbished. 3. Every original Laptop should have stickers near the keyboard. The stickers must identify the Processor the computer is using e.g. Intel; the RAM size or Memory. If after starting the system, a different Processor or OS shows-up other than the one on the sticker then, the system is fake. 4. When the battery producer name isn’t the same with the producer of the Laptop. 5. Check the back of your Laptop if it has identification, service tag or serial number and then visit the website of the producer to check if they support such identifications. E.g. My Dell Precision has a Service tag I use on Dell website to get drivers for my system. 6. You can call the Producer if they have your serial number in their Database. If they don’t, then your system is CHINA! All this notwithstanding, Laptop sellers in Nigeria always find “sharper” ways to sell their fake Laptops. You could fall a victim if you aren’t properly guided or informed. To save yourself from trouble, you need a dealer who has been tested and trusted. Nanish Tech LTD is one of these dealers who have integrity in the business. They deal in original new and USA-used Laptops that you will be certainly delighted to purchase. Aside the ONE YEAR WARRANTY you will get on any Laptop you purchase, they will also, help you install and drive software Applications on any Laptop you buy. This is what we keep seeing, EXCUSES THAT DRIVE THE SANE DAMN CRAZY!! Imagine the sort of reason Lai Mohammed gave for the cancellation "President Muhammadu Buhari, because the Eid-el-KABIR holiday deprived the ministers adequate time to prepare the documents for the meeting." One wonders if these people actually reason out the nonsense they vomit. Does it mean that while they holidayed they forgot they were Ministers and that work would start Today? Were they to be in Private sector as Directors and a meeting of the Board of Directors was called, would they give this provocative silly excuse? What problem have we brought on ourselves? What sort of directionless and seemingly intellectually defective set of folks do we have as leaders in this administration? Well, I know they have the very gullible Nigerians who are yet to have the specs fall off their blinded eyes still giving them support. May God just save this country 158 Likes 11 Shares |

We are yet to be free from the contraption political collaboration between Obasanjo, Tinubu and the Northern Jingoists has put us in, they are already scheming for ways to send us into the deeper smoky wells of politics that will shatter Nigeria for ever. I keep saying it, Obasanjo is the number one enemy Nigeria has ever known. All his political arithmetic; from seizing the Ibeto containers in the wolf just to allow Dangote increase cement prices in his first tenure which brought hardship, installing the sicking Yaradua and Jonathan, Distabilising Jonathan's administration for refusal to pay dues and allow him perpetuate his Third Tenure interest, packaging the "historic mistake of a leader" we have now, are all political gameplay that have damned the progress of Nigeria. We are un-free from the hot soup and they are already scheming for 2019. One wonders if these people are humans or beasts that they don't have human feelings at all. Are they really humans that they cant know people are suffering and dying everyday for their heartless, self-serving style of politics and policies? How can a sane mind ever conceive of gaming with the future of Nigeria when the last win he had has put us all in deep mess. I wouldn't why he so fears Atiku so greatly but then, if ever political bigots we have in both El-Rufai or Kwankwanso ever win Presidency in Nigeria, then this country may not exist to see another tenure after 2019. Politics / Re: The IPOB, Hausas And Soldiers Clash In Umuahia: Reason Behind It by Youngadvocate(m): 12:24pm On Sep 05, 2017 |
I weep what Nairaland is turning into... If mere fictitious rumors solely crafted to propagate hate and desecrate the identity of a people just because we do not believe in their struggle dominate the Front, then I wonder what Nairaland has suddenly become. Let's revisit the Eyewitness' account... "I was then meant to understand that Igbos were beating and chasing them away because they Igbos alleged that the army officers stationed at isi gate beat up an Ibo man(Keke driver) mercilessly and took him away" Even a mere scheming of the writeup reveals the very blatant lies that lie therein. For one, an eye witness who is said to have resided in Igbo for just a while to have a shop will definitely know how to write Igbo instead of "Ibo." "The Army officers came back and saw what the Igbos did to the Hausas, they had to call an Armored vehicle and started chasing the Igbos away from there, they shot tear gas and guns randomly before they entered into the nearby streets chasing people away and damaging both cars and Keke napep.. it wasn't funny oooo. Some IPOB People lost their goods and other items while the Hausas were left out of the drama as they(hausas) were busy with there business at Isi gate. " It was so shameful the how the OP tried to coil his lie to expunge illogicality in his narration; where did the IPOB beat up and chase out only Hausa men and women? Was it the same place the Army had allegedly harassed the IPOB guys? "I heard what started the fracas was that an army officer was beaten up by a Keke driver who he wanted to punish and that the Keke driver disarmed him and used the bottom of the gun to hit the officer's head. The army officers there poured out there anger on other Keke men... the main message that the Igbos there said the wanted to send was that they don't need hausa Army officers because the officers don't treat them with respect." An IPOB Keke driver beat up a soldier? Ha! Does it mean the soldier had no colleague around? He was so powerless that the IPOB had to take away his gun and beat him up "MERCILESSLY?" We hear it is only miscreants and jobless youths that belong to the IPOB yet you said they had shops and businesses, I wonder what we should believe. All you guys, keep piping the smelly smokes of discord, it may well blind everyone of us that will sink us into the deep hole of disintegration. |
