Politics / Are Ndi Igbo Really Their Worst Enemy? by Youngadvocate(m): 12:52pm On Mar 01, 2018
The contentious assertion that "Ndi Igbo are their worst enemy" is yet a dreaded discourse. Often, in other to save face, some of us throw insults and batter folks from other ethnic groups when they make this assertion. Some others tackle the discourse with sound logic, while some of us summon the courage to "swallow" the insult for lack of what to say.

But then, the trends of events and our show of character in relating with one another as Ndi Igbo reveal some elements of truth in this assertion. The interview of Abia state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu with the BBC Igbo is a striking evidence that proves this point.

I read the detail of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's interview with the BBC Igbo on 21 February, 2018 where he resentfully slammed Nnamdi Kanu and tagged him a "chameleon that speaks from both side of the mouth." To be honest, I cannot perfectly word the flow of disappointment, shame and bitterness that flooded my mind while I read the baggage.

Anyone who listened to the interview will have a feel of the truth that "Ndi Igbo" are truly "enemies to themselves." The manner in which the governor battered Nnamdi Kanu, the "missing" Leader of the IPOB, when asked his take on Kanu's disappearance ever since the Army invaded his house on September 14, 2017 was, to say the least, so pathetic. He went as far as publicly calling Nnamdi Kanu a chameleon who spoke from both sides of his mouth, a self-centered and adamant person who never sought his consent or advice while championing the Biafra course. It is unbearably heartbreaking that such nonsense could be voiced by a true Igbo son, a supposed Elder brother to Nnamdi Kanu, both of whom are from the same state. Recall also, that prominent politicians from the South East had in similar way, lampooned Kanu at his back, ever since he got missing; meanwhile they all had their mouths shot when Nnamdi Kanu held the entire South East to standstill with his Biafra crusades.

But, one really wonders, why do these people take it upon themselves to rubbish Kanu? Is it true that Kanu is the bad person they portray him to be? And, if for the benefit of the doubt, Kanu exhibits some character of badness (which every human being carries) and was self-centred in the Biafra fight, is it sensible and right for Okezie Ikpeazu, Rochas Okorocha, Orji Uzo Kalu and their likes to publicly deny and denigrate Nnamdi Kanu in the manner they did and still do; someone who was championing an Igbo course they also accept is "just and true.?"

The Fulani Herdsmen and the Boko Haram have maimed people and terrorised the country for years, how many Northern elders or Politicians have come out publicly to rebuke them let alone battering them with "hateful" words? The OPC at some points took up arms to pursue their course, how many Yoruba elders and elites dragged them to the mud for it? Is it the Niger Delta Militants that have been crucified with words by their leaders?

What more? Are the likes of Orji Uzo Kalu, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, David Umahi of Ebony State, Ken Nnamani of Enugu etc, trying to show how "honourable" and "righteous" they are by jumping on every given opportunity with the media to lambast Nnamdi Kanu and dragging his name to the mud? Or are they acting to the bidding of some "powerful political forces?" Or are they driven by some sort of deep and heavily burning hatred they harbour against this "guy?"

Much worse and very laughable, Okezie Ikpeazu, in the manner of his colleagues, said that Nnamdi Kanu never consulted nor approached him while pursuing the Biafra agenda. And one wonders if a person that is fighting the course of the common people these highly corrupt and clueless Politicians have made their enemies and always scheme possible ways to oppress and suppress, can such a person still dine with the same politicians?
We are the real enemies of ourselves and the enemies within!! We keep ourselves down while holding each other to the ground. The ambition of Rochas Okorocha and Orji Uzo which is practically impossible to realise with the manner the pursue it, is explicit; and it is the Presidency, but that of Okezie Ikpeazu is yet undefined. But, while they enjoy the frenzy of lashing their brother, they should not forget that "destroying the dreams of a brother doesn't guarantee the actualisation of theirs." Ndi Igbo saanu anya!!

Politics / Obasanjo's Letter: 5 Things We Must Not Forget by Youngadvocate(m): 11:45pm On Feb 27, 2018
The heat and buzz currently radiating the polity which was generated by Former President Olusegun Obasanjo's petition against President Buhari and his APC-led government weeks ago in which Obasanjo succinctly exposed the President's clear incapacitation to steer the ship of the country, the acute incompetence, bad governance and stinking ills of this administration, and also, flawed the misfiring policies of President Buhari as well as his bid to re-contest in 2019, is yet to die down. The letter generated so much noise and fanfare that it split notable voices in the country into two fiercely contrasting fronts. While very few (Tinubu, Falana, Oshomole and co), all of whom are the masterminds and beneficiaries of this clueless administration, condemned and questioned in strong terms, the audacity and intention of OBJ to write such a "debasing" letter against Buhari (and releasing it to the public), many, however, hailed him, stating that such uncommon effort from the former President was long overdue.

Whatever the reactions and counter-reactions maybe, one thing is essential for us the masses; and that is a vivid critique of the contentions, intent and purpose inherent in this highly political letter especially, the solution (mechanism) OBJ personally devised and is zealously recruiting Nigerians to buy into and propagate, which he captioned "Coalition for Nigeria Movement."

Such critique, if properly done, will throw up some salient questions that beg for honest answers. One, is the letter of OBJ ill-conceived and aimed at promoting sectional or personal interest or is it a product of patriotic effort aimed at promoting National interest? Two, why did OBJ move to setup another political party all by himself to stop Buhari in 2019: is there no genuine political party in Nigeria he can align with to oppose re-election of President Buhari in 2019 which is the wish of many Nigerians after all? Three, OBJ has since the civilian dispensation of 1979 directly installed successive Presidents in Nigeria, why have all of them shared a track record of awful and woeful failure in governance?

Attempts at answering these questions will be saved from this article till a later date. Meanwhile, this expose will try to call our mind to the history of OBJ's godfather role in the successive civilian governments in Nigeria, a seeming repetition of which, is imminent in his letter to Buhari.

1. In 1979, as a Head of State, who had succeeded his assassinated head, Murtala Mohammed, and carried on with the plan of the administration to hand over power to a civilian government, Obasanjo "conspicuously" hoisted the government of Shehu Shaghari, one adjudged the most corrupt government in Nigeria (though, now, second after the APC government). It is believed, two major factors determined the choice of Shaghari as the President. One, the North needed to consolidate power after the civil war. Shaghari was one of the few candidates the North trusted to carry out their agenda. Two, Obasanjo needed a a loyalist who wouldn't betray his interest, someone he could manipulate, and Shaghari was the best option. What happened? That government birthed this cancer that's eating up the liver of the Nigerian system today we call corruption. Its performance was marred by unprecedented level of corruption and it was not too long before Buhari and co struck in a military junta.

2. In 2007, just as he was denied the "third term" bid and was about losing power, Obasanjo packaged Yaradua, a sickening President, whose medical condition and fate, many analysts believed, Obasanjo knew quite well. He used him to both pacify and manipulate the North especially, the North West who were desperately seeking to wrestle power from the South, and it worked. He found Jonathan a very loyal fellow indued with unprecedented showing of loyalty virtue, to whom fate had presented a huge opportunity to usurp the seat of his master, Alamiesigha, who at the time, was being drilled in a scandalous case of Money Laundry. Obasanjo strongly trusted Jonathan would be a pushover he would use to complete his third agenda. Yaradua's performance was marred by the intractable ailment he suffered, hence, his government was hijacked by unseen forces politically termed "the cabal." Corruption was further entrenched in the Nigerian political system.
3. In 2011, Obasanjo played a prominent role in ensuring Jonathan returned to the seat of power. He had baptised Jonathan as his political godson. That government grew and was so enmeshed in corruption that the general public found so disgusting. The virus festered to all facets of our society.

Down to 2014, Interests criss-crossed and Jonathan played out of OBJ political calculation and favour. The North also, aggressively bent on recovering power from the South joined forces with Obasanjo in a front championed by Tinubu and a new dawn of political alignment was birthed. In 2014, year to the end of Jonathan's first term, OBJ capitalised on the massive looting and corruption in Jonathan's government which at the time, majority of Nigerians were protesting against, wrote similar letter and we all know what happened to Jonathan.
4. In 2015, it was a matter of "anyone else but Jonathan." Buhari, a man with unrivalled history of acute nepotism and tribalism, lacklustre performance in government, wanton ineptitude and master of "blame-game" politics was the available option. Heavy propaganda the Nigerian history had never recorded was the only means to unsit the far better option, Jonathan. Obasanjo, Tinubu and the North took their pound of flesh on Jonathan and the poor man took the peaceful and honourable bow (out of power).

5. Ahead of 2019: Now that "breeze has blown and we have seen the buttocks of the fowl", the grand tactician himself is shifting the post once again. The APC government and President Buhari who have been incapacitated to translate the propaganda and lies that stole power for them into actual governance, and under whose watch and leadership, Nigeria has further deeply fallen into the hands of rogues and charlatans, into lawlessness, economic woes and shambles, has been unanimously called on by Nigerians to hit the exit door. Obasanjo who had completely and openly rejected the PDP in 2015, now seeing a possible power drift in 2019 especially as bigwigs of the APC like Atiku and co who are also, desperate to taste the number one seat are returning to the PDP, has taken a twist to forestall eventualities. Just like he did in 2007 and 2014, he has gone ahead to exonerate himself from blames heeped on the forebears of this administration by visibly dissatisfied Nigerians, by writing an open letter to add his voice to the chorus virtually all Nigerians had, since the first half of this administration, been singing, which is to collectively bring to an end, this failed regime of APC and president Buhari in 2019. But, most importantly, to as usual, convert the very gullible and pitiable souls and lead the directionless sheep that form the majority in Nigeria, who are still trapped in this burning furnace we call the APC administration, which Obasanjo himself, was one of the undisputed masterminds, into his political fold he called CNM for the 2019 general elections.

In conclusion, while we all work collectively towards flushing out this APC government that has done nothing but destroy our political and economic systems, embarrass us before the international community and strengthen the embers of division, we should also ask ourselves, should we again give a nod to the direction Obasanjo is pointing with his letter or should we give it a knock considering his history of imposition in Nigeria, and shift our focus to a platform that presents us with a very credible personality that can create the real change we all yearn for? It's our collective choice.

That woman is a true jewel. A woman who stood by her husband all through the time when things were so bad. And when he was sickening.

Many wouldn't know how she suffered. And they even her today while she enjoys the fruit of her labour.

She's a woman with a good heart, so down to earth. If not that KCEE and Emeka (E-Money) always insist to shower her with luxury, she is the type that associates with anyone.

I could remember when she returned home for the first time after her husband (Papa Dan Okonkwo) died, she bought rappers, food stuff for the whole women in our kindred.

Even though she always moved in escourt, she would surely come down to identify with you on the road.

Mama Martha Okonkwo, God bless you with more years to enjoy the fruit of your Labour. But, please, continue to teach bro KCEE more sense mama.

Jobs/Vacancies / This Nairalander Defrauded Me; I Want To Use Juju - Advice by Youngadvocate(m): 8:41pm On Jan 14, 2018
Hello, Nairalanders, I need your advice.

I worked for this guy with the "StevenGerrard" moniker here on Nairaland, as a writer. I recall the guy posted a job notice with this contact 08113363310. I didn't see any warning comment on his thread from Nairalanders at the time, so I trusted him because I had written for a couple of good guys on Nairaland who paid me as and when due.

I contacted him on the 18th of December, 2017 and we negotiated. The agreement was I would write short "porn" descriptions of 300 videos for him at N30k. He assured me he would pay immediately after the work was completed, and I began working on the project on the 22nd of December, 2017.
I had a lot of hitches in the process of the work. Glo network at the time was a huge "mess"; for this, I spent close to 4k on subscription, and then, I was almost broke. But, I managed to finish the work on the 6th of Jan., 2018, as against the 10th of Jan. he gave me as the final deadline.

However, the guy has refused to pay me. I called him severally and he ignored my calls. He suddenly stayed off WhatsApp and left his DP blank. But, on Monday, 8th, he was back on WhatsApp with another number (07038708681) and no profile pic too. I tackled him for ignoring my calls. He lied and said he didn't see any calls. He said his client at Upwork had not verified d work and he would pay me on Tuesday, the following day if his client did. But, should he not, he gave me the deadline of yesterday, Friday, 12th, to pay me up. But then, his actions had become too suspicious for me as I noticed he wouldn't want to speak over the phone.

So, I visited Nairaland to get his moniker but I realised the post on the job had been deleted as I couldn't locate his number on the search engine. Later in the night of yesterday, Friday, I entered his second "strange" number he had called me earlier with on the "search box" on Nairaland, and I got to understand that the guy is a fraudster and had defrauded many others who ranted and abused him. His very usual dump reply was "the writers are half-beck. I can't express how fiercely angry I was. On my part, he confirmed my work but kept running.

I tried to trace him through "Trucaller" and I discovered he registered the two numbers with two different names (first number is Hope Aganyi, and the second number is, Aisha NI Bets).

Now, I am desperate to either get my money or revenge. I thought of following an Alfa in my area to meet one "Baba" to do "juju" on this guy. I just need to get his voice on the phone. The Baba" would prepare a wave sharm that would strike his voice and make him go dumb wherever he is. It would only cost me 2,050 (Two thousand and Fifty naira only) according to d alfa. Though my conscience is holding me back.

So, I am seeking your help fellow Nairalanders. Anyone who can help me and other victims in any way he/she knows to track this guy with the two information available (his name and number). I know some may come here with blames on why I should do porn description. I wish you understand how broke I was at the time. After some heavy expenses and little investment, during the Christmas, I became so dead broke that I didn't have any money I would start work with. It's just because there was no alternative to get instant cash at the time. And I believe same fate befell on the other victims.

I have tried to upload the screenshots of our WhatsApp chats here but can't.

Lalasticlala, davide470,

Please, mods, help us expose this thief and save further victims.

Being very sensitive and very detailed precludes you from being adventurous. These are opposites bro.

No, Sir.

Sensitivity to issues itches the brain. Yes, it gets the brain irritated by explicitly contrasting ideas and logic. However, it stirs the brain and, you may add, agitates the brain to stretch out to ideas it doesn't hold.

For instance, culture-shock is part of sensitivity issues. But before one has culture-shock, one must have come in contact with a different culture that has cultural values and ideals that contrast one's own culture.

Please, research well.

Romance / Why Do Girls Get Angry About "Virginity" - My Personal Experience by Youngadvocate(m): 5:58am On Dec 21, 2017
Practically, I am a very sensitive person; one you may say gives much attention to details. Of course, by this, you trust I am adventurous.

I have been in a relationship for about five (5) years now. And, God forgive me, I have broken his law on sexual intercourse. But I didn't have it until after 2 years of being a "naive" virgin.

But my girl wasn't. Kudos to her, she taught me all the tactics; the twist and turns that set everything in place, the "French commando" kissing style that gets virtually every lady in the mood, the touches that send the girl to the skies of sexual escapades and the positions that hit women's center of gravity and make them finally arrive the heavens of satisfaction; you may say "real cuming."

Everything was good between us. I mean, everything in the sense that, as a typical Nigerian relationship, as things progressed, with my eyes more opened, I demanded for more sex and that meant, I spent more money and did more caring. She was happy I had graduated from being a "naive virgin" to a professional "hitman" she wanted me to be when her "sexual urges" are provoked.

So, this day (Saturday to be precise), we were just warming up for our fourth round after the third; my first time of reaching this "threshold" though. The atmosphere was charged already. My body was up again. And I had begun working on her body to connect to the mood. It had just begun responding. And just there, my phone rang. Don't even guess what happened. The phone was ringing to my ears which at the time, were already deafened by her "moans" and "pleading to go easy." I had already been transfixed and to return, she would have to pull me out. It was again, the first frustration ever experienced.

After about, maybe, 5-6 times the phone rang, she reached for the phone, and, I guess, unwillingly and sluggishly said "who is on the line?" she didn't even add "please;" her usual last word when starting a telephone conversation. And then, she passed the phone over to me with that loved-up look and said "Ben, your friend." My anger grew worse. I held the phone and said nothing while the "moment spoiler" kept blabbing on the phone. I grudgingly put it on loudspeaker to smartly get my girl help me with the conversation. This will make him end the call quickly.

Next thing we heard: "Man, wadup with you!? You don't wanna talk?" And my girl said, "he's just a bit tired." I echoed my girl's voice just to conceal the mood and said, "Ben am just tired, but am listening." And then, my guy, so surprisingly excited and not even bothered to ask why I was tired, unlike him though, blew it. "Yo, man, my girl's virginity test came out this evening. Dude she's a virgin!!" Oh my goodness, I am going straight to the alter with her. Be prepared for the occasion man." I also grudgingly gave out some words. "Congrats man. Am happy for you. I will call you later." I dropped the call.

To turn to my girl, she was already enmeshed in and clothed with unimaginable anger. Her face warn that killer look. Her veins shot out. I was innocent atlest. So, I pushed to ask "baby, why is your face this way? What happened?" she returned no response. She had already started wearing (back) her clothes. After much efforts, she let it out. "Ben's girlfriend is a virgin and you tell him congratulations to that, right?" You should be preparing to get your own virgin you will go to the alter with."

That's the end. Its over two weeks now, she's still mad and doesn't wanna see my face. Nevertheless, that doesn't trouble me more than the eagerness to know why she is mad because of "a cheap virgin talk." This is a sort of common pattern one of my close friends and confidant had revealed to me non-virgin girls have been associated with.

Now, it bemoans me to ask, please, why do non-virgin ladies take offence, go off, and become somewhat unreasonably harsh when talks or claims on virginity arise? This is with the understanding that non-virgin guys never take this sort of offence.

Please, mature minds, let's talk.
