Yusufisraelj: Life is govern by Believe and Faith which ultimately effects and affects ones thinking which is what we call mindset.
Religious tolerance must always be accommodated in any society and this is my stand.
As regards marriage the Christian faith has certain standards in choosing suitors or spinsters so also does Islam.
If memory serves me right both religion disagree as regards this matter owing to what they stand for in choosing a life partner and what follows afterwards.
To answer your question - yes religious background matters in choosing a life partner. In Islam, it is permissible for a Muslim man to marry a Christian or a Jew woman but a Muslim woman marrying a man other than a Muslim is not permissible |

Nwaelohim: Reason you are asked such question include 1. Company Budget 2. Progressions .. because if you earn less than previous you won't be motivated 3. They don't want to loss you because of salary difference 4. They need to know your previous financial status.to know what to commit to you 5. Salary is proportional to task delivery and objective target. 6. Is part of recruitment process and has to be filled If you build a company you will ask same question... You can see that Buhari is not your unemployment problem but you. Thanks for your contribution.. even though the last part isn't necessary |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: An Employer Asking Applicant About His Salary In His Previous Work.is It Right? by Yustash001(op): 7:21am On Jan 13, 2021 |
samx4real: It happened to me after working for 4yrs in one private school in my area, they were paying me 20k, then they increase it to 23k and increase my status to HOD in 2017. I left them in 2019 when they couldn't increase it to 30k, the new minimum wage.
When I got to the other school, they asked me how much was my salary, I was very angry, because I felt that my previous school were paying me way less... I couldn't answer them and my stomach started paining me immediately they ask me that question.
I just bend down and shock my head. the interviewer told me to go and come back in two days when am ready.
I knew they needed me because I passed their written interview with the highest score. So when I went back after two days.
They repeated the same question and I have to lie... Yes, e get why. And I learnt a great lesson from that interview.
There is nothing confidential about your salary when it comes to an interview. Well, they eventually offered me the job but I didn't like the salary, though it was 35k, Tax inclusive.
After the pandemic, I left the school to another... You know why? The salary!
I just said let me just try the school may be their salary will be better, but during their interview they asked me how much was my salary in my previous school... I just added 5k to the 35k... i.e 40k
You know what? they took me and they even added 2k to it, because we were arguing between the 40k and 45k.
Now, that is common sense.
Next time when your interviewer ask you your previous pay... What you need to do is size them up, and add appropriate amount to your previous salary, because that will be their reference point... As in, is like you going to buy something from the market and you already know the price. But the seller just wants to add something to it so that he/she can make profit off you.
You can see, that even though they cannot afford to pay me 40k... at least, they would have paid between 37k to that 40k and I would have still taken their offer which is way better than my previous work place.
Anyways next time, do not be ashame of your pay. Add an appropriate amount, and tell them to make their offer a little higher.
#CommonSense. thanks for your contribution bro.. But are there no better ways to go by it without lieing? This is exactly what happened to me....my previous work place pays me far below what I expect from this new organisation.Revealing the real amount to them might lead to them underpaying me, and at the same time I don't want to lie about it.. That's why I just decided to play strong head, the worst is for me not be employed It however turned out well because the gestures I received from them after the interview showed they are interested in me... |

hush15: Bra, I see a lot of folks here talking about what is confidential about your salary that you couldn't have disclosed. However, I stand by you as long as you didn't come off rude. While there is no problem with disclosing or not disclosing, which ever you choose, I strongly believe its an unethical question to ask. When you place a job advert, of course, you will have considered the renumeration for the vacancy you placing. If so, what has what the person is earning in previous job got to do with what you already intend to pay. They wont pay one dime more or one dime less cos there is a standard measurement to salaries and standard companies don't rely on what you earn last cos every position has a grade level. Companies that ask such questions are usually one man business. Then when you know your onions, they will look for you and pay you accordingly.
Then if you are the type going about to beg for job or lobbying for post and really don't have anything to offer, they asking you how much you earn before whether they will want to match up or not.
Apart from that, if you like say 1million or 1naira, if they are interested, they will only pay what they can afford or they already advertised. Nice one, but from the comment have read so far, people are saying it's official |

BabaIbo: Oh, I see we are on the same side on this issue.
I'm referring to the guy that said he should disclose his true previous earning.
I adviced him that should in case he already know the set amount for the new job and his last job is way too low to the new one, it is either he politely decide not to disclose it or he should raised the old one a bit to measure up. Because these employers will surely cut down the pay and divert it to themselves if he loose guide, let's say he is earning 50k before and he is going for a job of 300k. They are just looking for a way to shortchange him. Thank you.....that's exactly where the problem lies. The previous amount I received as salary is too low compared to my expectations from them... And at the same time, I didn't want to tell a lie. That's why I decided to find an escape route.... |
