pocohantas:Sue ke? They experience this Daily! I'm happy you stood your ground, it's not everyday you see a woman exhibit that kind of willpower |
Stormyharper:Lolz, it's the way it is. Some claim they do it for survival, some do it as a chronic habit and some do it for fun. As for the government part, I am of the opinion that we get the government we deserve, it's still people like us that get appointed and elected, in the end the same people that fought the demons of corruption become greater demons themselves. Our strength as a country has become our greatest weakness - The ability to quickly adapt. We adapt too easily to anything everything and quickly too. In the same gas station, when you make too much noise about this kind of thing, a fellow customer will come and tell you to calm down and forget the matter, some will even tell you to move your car that you are blocking them from buying fuel. In that case you already know that if you choose not to patronize them again, 10more new people will show up to fill your space there. In other words, the exception has become the norm and we have once again adapted |
Since we are still on the Matter, lemme drop a few nuggets. How many men will choose a 2020 brand new Camry over a heavily used and abused Nigerian used 2020 Gwagon to use for Life? A lot, probably. How many men will choose a Brand New 2006 Camry over a heavily used and abused Nigerian used G Wagon to use for Life? A lot, probably. How many men will choose a Nigerian Used and abused Camry over a heavily used and abused Nigerian used G Wagon to use for Life? A moderate few. How many Nigerians will choose a 2020 brand new Camry over a 2020 brand new G Wagon to use for Life? An insignificant few. What am I trying to say in essence? Be the 2020 G Wagon. Be tear rubber but still have all the features(skills and knowledge) of the latest model vehicles. In the end, don't come and tell us to help you, that the vehicle you finally settled with doesn't move for more than 30secs and you didn't know because he was Nigerian used and you didn't test him before buying. |
Frankicent:There are many things that our physical senses cannot comprehend. There is another dimension that can only be experienced by the spirit being. In other words, You Don Enter!! It's good that you pray, she knows this and would be very careful with you if her gift is of the devil. You know what's better than you praying for yourself? Intercessory prayers, works wonders, get a serious like-minded prayer partner and you will experience a whole new world of possibilities. |
Stormyharper:It's not just fuel, it's almost in everything we do daily. I bought some (A lot)things from a mall only to discover that the attendant slightly increased the quantity of some of the items I bought and it reflected in the receipt/invoice. This has happened to me 3 times and in every case, it was resolved amicably. Might be coincidence but I really don't care, I just wouldn't consciously allow myself to be cheated afterall these are just the few times I bothered to check the receipt. Who can say for sure if I haven't been cheated a couple of times out of impatience, ignorance or neglect? I have painstakingly learnt to not take these events personal cos it happens more frequently than one can imagine. |
Doradorwa:hmmmmmm, really? |
jidobaba:for me it's when the attendant brings up a random discussion to distract you. Most times if you lose guard thinking the person just wants to brighten up your day.... na scam, before you blink twice the meter don reach 7k. At this point, familiarity don set in, instinct will be to just drive off |
pocohantas:like I said earlier, don't take it personal, it's what they do on a Daily Basis. Next time just stand your ground and attract as much attention as you can, they'll comport. PS: the manager knows all these and will take it out of their salary as he said but they'll recover the money tomorrow and the cycle continues. |
armadeo:I don't think it's hard tho, what I've noticed is in a gas station, they have one or two meters configured for this type of stunt. How to know? Bike and Keke riders avoid these pumps. Allow the "big men" use the other available pumps, making it look like an exclusive fast track service for these "big men". |
pocohantas:sadly, nothing has changed. They meet ur type every other day, they have an SOP for handling cases like yours. it's a trial and error thing, they try you to see if you'll fall victim and most times if you drive off, that's the end of your case. |
Welcome to the club Poco It's a normal thing these days so when you manage to find a gas station with better value for money, try to stick with them. I have seen it all, from buying black market fuel at a gas station to buying fuel mixed with either kerosene/diesel to being scammed by putting air instead of fuel to not resetting the meter before adding the fuel. Last scam was at NNPC gas station. Right before my very eyes, guy with a brand new 20ltrs keg bought fuel with meter reading above 24ltrs and the keg was just 3/4 full. I still bought the little that'll take me to the office. The most dramatic was at mobil awolowo way The lady didn't reset the meter and started selling from 3k for a prepaid POS bill of 6k. I was in an suv, dressed very official with Suit, Tie and Starched shirt. Maybe that was what deceived her, she profiled me wrong. when she was done, I calmly told her to add remaining fuel, this lady started insulting me, inviting her colleagues to come and help her out of the impending oppression. They came to her aid and were asking me silly questions. I simply alighted from the vehicle, removed my suit jacket, tie and Starched shirt and was in my white inner t-shirt. I was ready to show them the definition of crazy. I already had my processes planned out, my plan was to grab the nozzle from her, serve myself my money's worth and anybody in the way would have had the crazy in full. That's exactly what I did and slowly drove off, no words. Sometimes they need to understand that they cannot get away with it Everytime! I'm so happy you acted that way, but just get there on time tomorrow and get your crazy hat on because they'll still test your ruggedity. Don't go alone, but I'd have preferred you not take the POS and resolve it immediately. They all know the drill and most of the attendants there do it so it's not new to them. when they see better crazy, they comport. |
UyaiIncomparabl:you are not a baby! |

SouthEastFacts:ok sir! |
SouthEastFacts:In your mind you have spoken big grammar. I am very familiar with all the jargons you used. In any case, whoever is going to be interviewed has already expressed interest someway, somehow. Even developers on Turing express interest before being considered, politicians also so same! Most specialists and experts perform what can be referred to as an Open Scalar Application or passive application, where they express interest on several portals without specifically directing it to an individual /company. Any recruiter can visit the site, scan through the available prospects and then weigh their skills to choose the best suited candidate. Lest I forget, the major way you fill the posts you mentioned are through referrals. Specialized fields require more than trial and error. I am not going to continue with this shallow argument where all you do is shift goal post. I'm done, now you can rant and use all sorts of jargons Edit: I have reviewed your posts on this matter and I think I shouldn't have engaged you from the onset, you have an extremely poor description of what an application is. My Bad! |

UyaiIncomparabl:If you cannot see how unrefined it is then there's no need to continue. Igbo clowns? Region sef? You ain't a kid you know! |

SouthEastFacts:Ok sir, it's obvious you really don't know what you are talking about! Or you think you're the only one into talent management and acquisition? |
ORLAHOLUWA:The only Business environments worth nothing there are *Mechanic Workshops *Hotels *Supermarkets |
UyaiIncomparabl:uyai why so crude mbok? |
SouthEastFacts:I did not misread anything, You started with "adverts" and ended with "interviews" without addressing the main point. Also, there has never been an argument about interviews here so why bring it up and try to represent it as the item for debate? In any case, you haven't answered the question, how do you get applicants data before shortlisting for interviews? Your constant attempts to evade the question are quite poor. I repeat, there must be an expression of interest pre employment! Whether it's deliberate or erroneous is not also the issue before you will shift again. |
banggy:Go to facebook as randomly select someone as people here claim it is now the norm |
SouthEastFacts:Ok simple question. The candidates you shortlist for interviews how do you get their info? Facebook? As for interviews, people get jobs in this country without any form of interview, they just visit the HR and receive offer letters. It's standard practice in some organizations and is solely based on who is doing the referral! I typed all that because that's not the argument here so don't shift goal post. |
mrcoolautofix:Hmmmm, ok I want to understand you, really I am honestly trying my best. So the golf 3, is it that one with eagle eyes that you use to hit a stationary vehicle that was parked on the road? Now to the bendix, so you are saying because you physically inspected the old bendix and new bendix side by side there was no way your old one was bad? Because your eyes are that microscopic or you used the eagle eyes to inspect them? In other words, someone from your village jazzed the old bendix and it immediately stopped working even tho there was no damage physically (as far as your eyes could tell) and mechanically (as far as your golf and mechanic could tell) Now after reading this, how do you feel? Isn't that just absurd and a lil bit short of being a desmond elliot? |
Spark2:it's simple actually, getting rewarded (job, salary, money) for following passion is not certain. |
wildlife9999:so employers go on facebook, randomly select people and send them invite for interview? I give up.... you win!! |
wildlife9999:NPC- National Population Commission |
wirinet:You have dissected it completely, I don't think can manage a comeback from this. How can someone be so blinded by pride and unjust entitlement, telling people that he cannot do this and that in a certain parts of a country because of Laws and traditions but the same person is still saying in some other parts of the same country they should relax their own tradition and laws to suit the lifestyle of the same people who uphold their laws to the letter in their regions? I mean, isn't that annoying to read? |
