The Niger Delta man is physically and mentally Lazy.

The region is so bad that there is no Billionaire in the entire region whose wealth has crossed 2 generations. Whereas the Igbo Man, Yoruba man and the Hausa man would build an empire and start setting up his sons and relatives to takeover and expand the empire to last long beyond him, the Niger Delta man once he becomes a billionaire or a millionaire would rather live large, buy multiple cars, marry more wives, birth more kids that he would not provide for and die almost broke leaving his estate in disarray.

The Youths grow up on this belief that they can be lazy and expect to get rich from terrorizing Non-Indigenes and extorting businesses in their locality, selling off their ancestral lands and blowing up oil installations for settlement claims money.

All developmental projects embarked on by the Companies (oil and otherwise), the Government, e.t.c are all sabotaged by the same Niger Deltans who are the primary beneficiaries. I remember how a school with a budget of almost 100 Million was awarded to a Contractor and when he arrived the site to commence work, the Chief and the Youths started harassing him and in the end, the Chief demanded 15 million Naira for him to sign a Work Completion Certificate for the Contractor. The Contractor ofcourse offered the Chief 15 Million out of the almost 100 Million, settled the youths with like 2 million Naira and pocketed the rest of the dough. That job was marked as completed on the list. No thanks to the Community people.

I have sat in on several MOU's and I am yet to come out of any one where I can say the representatives of the Community had the best interest of the people they claimed to represent at heart.

I remember how one community demanded that their people be sent on training and paid a salary of 750,000 per month for the duration of the course.. I was like WTF?

Total Nigeria Limited has spent over 1 Million Euros on OML 58 Communities i in Rivers State in the last 6 Years and yet that community does not look like they have ever seen dollars before. Same with NAOC and SPDC amongst others.

If you are a contractor in the Niger Delta, you know all I am saying first hand, if you are not, ask anybody who is to tell you stories.

Its in the Niger Delta that you will get a Contract to fabricate or construct something, after settling the chiefs and elders and youths, they will give you a list of persons who you must employ before you commence work and they will in some cases stipulate their salaries. After you agree, these workers will never turn up to work until its time for salary.

The biggest enemies of the Niger Delta is the Niger Delta.

I worked as a project engineer about four years ago under Shell for the interdependency project to help the community build a small outlet that will supply electricity for three communities in bayelsa state! Oporoma and 3 others! The chiefs and the community guys frustrates the project! The demanded 80% local content to be from the community. Well, the Shell SRS who happened to be the community rep in shell was on our neck to employ them and train them to do d work and the agreement back then was #5000 per day.
Could u believe these guys never turned up for the job. We employed about 150 workers and only a few of them turned up and guess what, they all expected to get an alert on the phone. Or sometimes many of them come towards the end of the month just to register their presence. And the CLO for the project will always claim more money and all.
The corruption actually started from d chiefs. Cos we paid them almost 10million to do the land cleansing and all back then.
Until we have a strict law on that land. These things would continue and it will never get better!

Other countries like america! We have vehicle inspection that will be conducted by d MVA. So certain things must be in place unlike naija where d VIO are so useless without doing their job accordingly.

In Nigeria, I doubt if we follow the right of way cos all drivers don't have the opportunity to learn driving appropriately.
Before I left naija, I have been driving for more than 10yrs and guess what, I failed the road test twice and got it at the third attempt.
I don't blame people in nigeria but our government that didn't provide good road network and FRSC given out driver's licence without monitoring drivers to have good skill before heating the road.
Well, we still hope that we would get there one day.

The President was invited and not necessary that he went there with them. I was in that place as far back as 1995. It is an abandon land and so sad that kwara state government are not doing anything to help the people in that area! They are hardworking people cos they are mainly farmers. I enjoyed something when I was there, that was bounded yam. Cos they eat that as their 3 squared meal with goat meat. Also they use share butter (ORI)instead of vegetable oil to fry n cook their food. Kwara state govt should work on improvong the standard of living of these people and give the the basics instead of just casting them aside as if they don't exist.

Shade called me today knowing fully well that dayo is with me. She didn't deny the act and begged me to keep the family secret tight.

For the doubting Thomas in d house, I have a picture that captured the event, but am afraid to post it before it gets viral.

People fail to believe things are going on on this earth which we only see in nollywood or Hollywood movies. But to be sincere, this exist in real life as well.

Dayo just confessed to me that part of the money he stole from the bank was actually sent to shade's brother in Nigeria to start up a business in idumota lagos. And several others wired to even shade before they concluded to marry eachother.

From the whole story, it seems shade isn't fully in love with dayo as he is far older than shade who just turned 28 last year November.

Right now, I can't think straight to find a strong solution to this problem. Dayo is insisting to go back to Nigeria, at the sametime, he has nothing to fall back at there in Nigeria. Cos he sold his car and moved all this things to his family house in ibadan before leaving Nigeria.

According to him, he has saved up to $15k dollars and willing to return back to start a new life or return back to his ex-wife.

Dayo can't hire an attorney cos the process of change of status for him was done on a fake divorce certificate from Nigera. Dayo used to be in a 5year marriage with another woman in Nigeria. They are separated by not legally divorced.
So the idea of reporting or filling a court suit against him isn't visible.

Wonder they say never ends! Dayo came to my house and was crying looking so down. A sign of given up on himself with so much frustration and anger all around his entire face. The winter that just started doesn't help matters cos his face was looking so. Dry like someone suffering from malnutrition. The weather must have given him hard time cos he actually came to my place buy bus and from the bus stop to my house is a little bit far. So I could feel the level at which he must have been affected and got dried up working in d winter without dressing warm.
It was on Jan 1 new year and the new year celebration was still on the air.
Before, I continue on Dayo's gift for the new year, let me take a little time to give you a short story about him. I wouldn't want to say or give u the exact location of Dayo to cover up his private life. However, he moved to North America from Nigeria through a Spouse Visa packaged by Sade his present wife in 2013. Before dayo came to join his wife, he was a banker in Nigeria but was sacked due to a case of misappropriation in managing a customers fund which affected him and his boss.
Shade is working as a nurse and she has her married elder sister living in the same county with her. In fact, shade was staying with them before dayo's arrival but later got their own apartment not very far from her sister's house. Am sure anyone reading this would understand how Shade's sister and her husband received dayo. they have been supportive and good to him since he joined them. Most especially during the process of his naturalisation and all.
Now to the unbelievable event that left him speechless and insane up till this moment. It was on a new year eve and dayo went to work but left early to join his wife for prayers before breaking through the new year. On a normal day, he was supposed to close 8am next morning (jan 1). But he lodged a complain n requested to leave before time which was eventually granted.
But to his widest imagination could dayo have thought something terrible might be going on in their apartment. Dayo was with the gift he bought from walmart with the hope of surprising his wife. he opened the entrance door gently and headed straight to their bedroom. You won't believe what he saw, his wife shade, her sister and the husband on their matrimonial bed all naked having party.
What an abomination! According to him, he broke down in tears cos he was so speechless and weak. He didn't know if to rush them and beat hell of the man or attack his wife or the sister in-law for such nasty act.
Since then, dayo has been in my house and I advise him to calm down..
I know we have wise men n women on nairaland, am throwing this out for you to help advise him on what to do. He told me that he would be returning back to nigeria and forget about the marriage but for me where is he going to start from in Nigeria. Please kindly contribute as I promised to give you updates as time goes on!
