credits to juo and his team who came around to wash off the last remaining harmattan dust and soot from my panels.

NiyiOmoIyunade: Dear friends,
Please celebrate with me!!!
The good sunny days are coming back again I got home early today and checked out my system performance only to see 76Amps NET flowing into my batteries. I could not contain my joy and so I whipped out my camera and started taking pictures to show the house.
Glossary:
Pic 1 - Net amps flow into batteries after deducting house loads and inverter self consumption - 76Amps
Pic 2 - MorningStar CC1 connected to 3.6Kw of Flames Panels (300w x 12 Units) - 47.7Amps
Pic 3 - MorningStar CC2 connected to 2.97kw of Canadian Solar Panels (330w x 9 Units) - 45.9Amps
This for me is stellar performance for a 6.6Kw West-facing PV Array.
And more interesting even to be able to benchmark the performance of Tier 2 Flames 300w vs. Tier 1 Canadian Solar 330w using exactly the same 2units of MorningStar MPPT 60A connected to the same 48v 800Ah battery bank. I will leave the house to discuss this aspect of the price vs. performance (value for money) equation.
NB: The Flames are now about 2 years old while the Canadian Solar are just very recently installed.
Credits to MorningStar Corporation who make these wonderful CCs, Zeestone99 and crew for the installation and JUO who showed me without charge some undocumented performance tweaks that allowed me to squeeze max wattage out of this mid-sized PV array as well as Gennex Tech for supply of Canadian Solar Panels at a bargain price cc @makavele let's go n steal one controller and some panels afterall if we steal half, he ll stil have enough power. |

ugonology: Honestly storing food produce is presently the best investment. But please don't do palm oil, its price index is not stable and is most times politically influenced .(those who bought last year can testify). I will advice you try a produce that is more stable and has a guaranteed ROI no matter how small, a typical example of this is corn and beans.
Last year, I spent about this same amount buying 100 bags of corn at 5200 naira per bag, the total amount spent was about 585 thousand naira (plus cost of storing space, treatment and transportation) today a bag of corn goes for about 9000-9500 naira, I just want it to hit 10,000 naira before I can sell. My only regret is not including beans in my portfolio, as beans was selling for about 18,000k by then, but now sells for 28-30k .
Lastly, you can do this on your own, don't give your hard earned money as an undeserving offering to some jambnairaland snake and vampires! Be delligent to do your part, its just a few days of research and asking the right questions, then sit down and watch how your 500k will go hunt you another 500k. princely009: Hello house, pls i need the techies in the house to help a brother out so dat i can invest wisely in harnessing solar power. I want to power my gaming shop which also include a barbing saloon and and a betting biz(bet9ja) with solar and inverter.
Below is a breakdown of my total load and their power consumption. 22 "led tv--->30wx3=90w 32" led tv--->50wx4=200w 26" tv--->47w Playstation 4--->150w Playstation 3--->100wx2=200w Playstation 2--->35wx3=105w 18"ox fan--->128w 26"ox fan--->150w Hair clippers---> 15wx3=45w LED lights--->15wx6=90w Short blade fans --->70wx2=140w Laptop--->65wx3=195w Thermal printer--->40w And charging of mobile phones.
PLS NOTE THAT; 1. There is HARDLY 5h light per day in my location. Sometimes we go 2 to 3 days without light. 2. I do not power all the listed loads at d same time. Mostly d fans and light are turned on all day. All oda loads are turned on intermittently. 3. I operate my shop for about 12hrs per day 4. I power all dese loads at d same time with a 2kva generator. 5. There is about 5hrs of good sunlight in my location. 6. I recently bought a 2kva 24v Sinergy inverter and 2x200ah luminous battery.
My questions are; 1. Hw many solar panels do i need to buy to effectively power d listed load and charge my battery to full b4 the sun goes down in the evening.(I intend buying 265w solar panels) 2. what type of charge controller would be recommended for the total amount of panels that is recommended. 3. Can i use my 2kva generator to charge my batteries. If yes, for hw long b4 the batteries get to full charge? 4. Will the 2 batteries be enough to power my load in the evening for abt 4 to 5hrs (considering i do not turn on all the loads at d same time)
Pls i will be so grateful if this requested information is attended to. Thanks Call/whatapp 08117398294 let's draft a plan for the project. |

NiyiOmoIyunade: Nice to see the evollution from simple to moderately large system.
The install was masterfully executed between. Pretty neat job well worthy of a pro installer - your DIY skills are above par.
Instead of 'resistors' would you consider using a DC 'buck' converter to step down voltage from 24v to 12v for your MSW Inverter? Easier to keep your battery bank balanced that way because you can engage your entire 24v battery bank all at once. Again why do you even need the 12v MSW Inverter sef? I would suppose your Microtek 24v has pretty low self consumption so except you want to just give it a break sometimes....
All in all very great work bro... You can say that again @makavele is more than a diy enthusiasts, i can remember wen he converted his idle controller to an ordinary voltage meter ( the controller must nt b idle at all). Thumbs up man |

makavele: No sir;
The watt meter displays as follows:
1st section: total time meter has been on in current day... in my case 18 hours 59minutes; u can use the clock menu to switch "days" Timer resets when it gets to 24 hours and marks as "Day 1" etc.
2nd section: total energy used during time period above .. .in my case 15.67kwH used in 18 hours 59minutes.
3rd section: instantaneous energy load .. . in my case 802 W load turned on currently; this value goes up or down in real-time depending on loads turned on
+++++
The first miniature installation was around early September and it was like that till December when stone added the extra panels; then I did the remaining magic this 2018 !!! Lemme come n copy my oga magic, i need that magic |

efuro: Yes Sir, Quality is good & nice for those who can afford it.
Even though PV are rated 10-40yrs, My narrow reasoning is such that I prefer to use sunshine panels now and probably for 6 to 7 yrs from which new template in technology would have be out in RE where the pleasure of current expensive PV Would have been overwhelmed.
Take a look at Trojan 6v industrial batteries of few yrs back and now lithium solutions.
Just my view. Exactly my thought, dat is what I told niyiomo(bros ur name too long, and I no sabi spell ) b4 I sold him flames panels, with price diff about 30 to 40k as against solarworld , if solarworld ll take u 25yrs, and flames tk u 10 to 15yrs, that is enough tym for technology to take a different phase entirely, jst as traditional lead Ba3s are bowing out to lithium Ba3s. Although premium brands push out more amps than tier 2 panels. On a second thought wen u compare d additional amps vs the additional price,i ll let u judge. N:b if there is fund, premium panel and premium controller rocks |
