The higher the poverty level of a society, the more people sink into gambling, crime, and other get rich quick schemes.

People don't seem to be able to draw a connecting line from a poor economy occasioned by an incompetent government to their addictions.

Gambling, drug abuse etc are all symptoms of a failing/failed society.

You are either gambling to make quick money because you are broke or taking drugs because you are trying to escape a current reality which doesn't favor you.

In summary, the absence of a concrete-based business doesn't automatically mean that a wealthy person acquires their wealth through inglorious means. Sometimes all that a healthy person needs to amass floating wealth is just an idea, definiteness of purpose, and gumption.
