TheGoodJoe: The most stellar Messi was in the beginning of the system and he actually was playing for it. Not against it. As time went on, Messi had to keep going deeper and cutting down on his dribbles.
Towards the end of his time at Barcelona, virtually operating like a midfield passer. People mix-up early Guardiola days to the era. What we are dealing with now is after Guardiola left Bayern, where the system is totally studied and adapted. But Germans have always been known to play with so much intensity, press and running that's why the name German machine. So even the intensity, fitness running around is not a new thing. |

TheGoodJoe: I didn't notice it in the past. It is something I noticed from Pep Guardiola. What I know we had in the past were Sweeper defenders who were creative and also good with dictating play with passes like midfielders. A person that was so good at that was Matthias Sammer in his later days.
Football in the past was rigid when it came to positioning. You will not find Roberto Carlos or Cafu living their roles to go to the midfield to control games. Nor Celestine or Mobi. lahm say hi |

TheGoodJoe: KDB is easily better than Lampard and Ballack. kendrick9 is 100% right. When you guys say things like these, it shows you guys actually don't watch City games. Lampard can't touch De Bruyne at all. For me I can't say who's better but if we use the same metrics you use for Zidane vs KDB then you will have to accept that lampard is better or using your word more effective |

robosky02: Like seriously Who be Osimhen self..him don baff
Osimhen was unborn when legends like Finidi George were making Nigeria the talk of world football...in the late 90's and 2000s,
if you introduced yourself in Africa and Europe as a Nigerian, Finidi George was mentioned alongside Okocha, Amokachi, Nwankwo Kanu and co.
They gave us hugs with so much respect, if its in a bar they'd pay for your drinks just for being a fellow Nigerian like Finidi and co that etertained the world with great football. Finidi was rated as the best number 7 in the world
Osimhen should keep quiet, keep calm and remain focused to get to the level of our greats of yesteryears, otherwise his mouth will lead to ..
You can't insult legends if you want to be one someday

World best is an opinion based thing. Let's not clutch at straws the superior here is also an employee, he's just like a team leader. Yes few old employees opinion can be heard. Nothing unheard of there. |

AlbertoIancu: Would have loved for him to stay a bit longer though and try to save his reputation. Now everybody will always remember him as the guy who lost to Benin Republic in a WC qualifier.
Many will blame the NFF for hiring him in the first place but I think his employment was justifiable.
Poor knowledge of tactics failed him. The argument that he didn't have time to get used to the team is a bad one since he served as an assistant coach on this same team during the AFCON, watching them at close range. Any coach worth his salt would have transited seamlessly into the head coach role.
Good riddance anyways. If he knows what's good for him, he should go on some coaching refresher courses before taking his next gig because he clearly still has a lot to learn tactically. there's no justification in employing finidi as Head coach, none nff almost did same with Musa Abdullahi, considering hiring because he was assistant to the previous coach. |

Odunayaw: It is not in a player's privilege and rights to give opinions on coach selection just the way no student has a right/privilege to tell his University which lecturer to hire. players can be related more as an employee than a student. Even Fifa gives captain of national teams opportunity to voice their opinion when picking world best. |

Odunayaw: Lookman played in the first two matches.
There was nothing mind boggling, we can't say friendlies are for trying out things with one side of our mouth and say we should use starting 11 from the other side. As a newly employed coach with just a window before the next world cup qualifiers you go around inviting new players to do what, someone that has been around the team. He should have access the weak areas in the team and get one or two players to boost such areas. Try them in the friendly. |

Any sincere and sensible observer can see that i said it here that I rate finidi base on his team in enyimba. Yes enyimba won the super 6 after coming 5th or 6th in the league. But I watch the team and it seems they was not impact from a grounded coach on the team. The name enyimba was the factor. |
