Sports › Dalung, Aides Attack Jounalists At NFF Congress by zicky(op): 8:38pm On Apr 13, 2016 |
Nigeria's sports minister, Solomon Dalung, has blamed the crisis in Nigerian football on corrupt journalists whom he said collect bribes from the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation. The minister also watched while his aides physically shoved journalists who demanded an apology from the minister for his comment at the NFF extra ordinary congress held at Chida Hotel in Abuja on Wednesday. Dalung refused to withdraw his words and left after addressing the NFF assembly. The Sports Minister who only showed up around 12.30pm in an event that was scheduled for 10am as usual took a swipe on all stakeholders in the Nigerian football and sports sector before he particularly heaped abuses on journalists as being responsible for the crisis. “I’m like a guerilla person, I’m not afraid of anyone that a woman gave birth to," Dalung said belligerently. " The more they talk about me, the more I get stronger. Some of you here including the media shamelessly sent text messages and write nonsense. I want to assure you that I’m a Guerilla Man. I have never lived in comfort zone, so I’m a stranger to the comfort zone. I cannot never be threatened. "I have survived more than five assassination attempts in my life. I’m a human rights activist. You don’t gather and begin to drag some people down for selfish reasons. The football family must go back and put itself to order, it is not for me, I don’t elect President or put Presidents.” A guerilla person is a member of an irregular armed force that fights a stronger force by sabotage and harassment. Earlier before the NFF general assembly was declared open, both NFF President Pinnick and Chairman Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Obinna Ogba, called for calm and assured of renewed vigour in moving Nigerian football forward. http://www.completesportsnigeria.com/dalung-aides-attack-jounalists-nff-congress/ |

MathsChic: From the little i know about football, yes I agree the team may have issues. It's the racism argument I don't buy. yea definitely not racism, went through some online forum and hw so many people condemned the attitudes of the mancity players including the whites, Asians. This problem is not about kelechi bt about mancity players, glory hunters no passion for the team, most of the players are their just for the money. |

MathsChic: You really have tendered the best argument in this debate. Persecution complex is a thing with most Nigerians and they'd like to believe Nacho is in the same situation as they are with their friends and bosses in the office or in their homes. No case can be made or should be made for racism here. It could simply be that there's no cohesion in the team; it could also be that Nacho celebrated wrongly.
If I remember correctly, one of the goals Nacho scored in this hat trick had a penalty in it. Sterling had been fouled and wanted to take "his" penalty. Nacho also wanted in on it. Zabaletta stepped in and ordered Sterling to step back, giving Nacho the opportunity to take the penalty. Had the situation been reversed, rest assured our Nigerian siblings will ascribe Zaba's decision to racism.
I suggest you let these small-minded people be. Arguing with them is like pouring water into a sieve and expecting it to hold. if you call your fellow Nigerians small-minded, what will you call editor of goal.com, skysports and so many other foreign media house that keep showing that event as one of the highlights of the match, I either don't buy the racism crap bt move your eyes from the fact that mancity as a team gat issues. Some times back yaya complained of none of his team mates sending him birthday greeting, this are little things you may say bt it is this little things that bring togetherness, bond in a team. |

Vig86: Sometimes it is good to celebrate the little you have. When you celebrate, you are happy; when you are happy, you can achieve impossible. Man City lose eventually. thank you, if you don't celebrate goals in football then what's the aim |

Ayo25: Your father is silly. Henry is entitled to his opinion. Gary Neville with all his wonderful opinion as a pundit cannot coach a big team like Valencia. How does being a successful footballer translates into being a good pundit in thecase of Henry. To be a good pundit you need a sound reasoning and everybody can reason. Of course the players should celebrate kelechi's equaliser massively as if they have won because that is what the fans who pay their heavy wages came to see and after the massive player investment in the team, what thè fans deserves are some tasteless, dull, borin and uninspiring performances in the space of two weeks. Rubbish I can see the kind of person you are, do have a nice day |

Ayo25: In football you do all what you can to win for your team. But although, your effort cannot always guarantee victory for your team, you still have to put those efforts in. The little effort kelechi could have put in here is to quickly grab the ball and show passion to win with the team. Of course that doesnt mean your team will win. Commitment and passion for the team is the keyword here even if your team does not win. That said, one thing gives rise to another. If there was no allegation of some conspiracy against kelechi, there would be no point mentioning his immaturity. We should always allow sleeping dog lie. the little effort kelechi was meant to do for his team is to take his chances and score which he did, I dnt know if you picture yourself in kelechi shoe. Two wrongs dnt make a right, even if kelechi over celebrated his "not too important" goal as some want us to believe, bt for the sake of team spirit 2 or 3 of his teammates should hv joined him to even tap him to give him sign that they need to go on with the match. |

Badosqi: And how did Walcott and his team mates celebrated the goal. Walcott did not run to the corner flag like he just scored the winning goal in a must win match. He did a moderate celebration with team mates who were around him and they immediately headed back to the half way line to restart the match......
Nacho ran away like he just scored the winning goal and he ran to the corner flag. To celebrate with him means his team mate must chase after him to jubilate wasting another 2-3mins. This match meant a lot to city title chase and 3 points is all they needed not 1 point...
Ask yourself where were the city players when nacho was jubilating? heading to the half way line of course. huh so running to the corner flag to celebrate a goal is now an offense in football, pls tell me more cos you keep mentioning running to the corner flag |

Ayo25: Well there is always a superior arguement in any debate and I believe I have the superior arguement here. I repeat that Iheanacho needs to grow up. He should start thinking in terms of the team alone and not himself. By your own logic, I will tell you that City lost the match because of Iheanacho's time wasting celebration. He did not show any sense of urgency and need to win with his team with the excessive celebrations. I am sure if the refree have permitted him, he would have celebrated the equaliser for the rest of the match by deciding to shake all the over 40,000 fans one after the other. He thinks every thing about the match is the one goal he scored and nothing else matters. He lacks a vision of a bigger picture of things. If your team is trailing and you managed to score going into the closing stages of the match, and considering you are the bigger team on paper with bigger ambitions, the right thing to do is carry the ball and run towards the halfway line, charge your team, fire up your fan's passion. That is what senior players does. Only babes like Iheanacho celebrates at the corner flag all alone. Ode. with your comment it is very clear you are the sily one here with "superior argument". What do you know about football, that even Henry notice the lad should not be treated that way. In whichever way you look at it their action was wrong cos if iheancho did nt equalize nobody will b talking of a winning goal |

I have attended a vigil and prayer points were called to pray against the emergence of PMB but at the end GOD aways has his way! So this truly happened. I keep saying that the average Igbo is not in anyway different from the Muslim fanatics in the North (those one calls those against their religion Infidels the way the Easterners calls the muslims anti-Christ) when it comes to issues of religion hatred for the opposite religion.
Religion dogmatism is highly prevalent in the Core North and SE, thus there is no way these two people can have peaceful co-existence Remind me the tribe of pastor that says he will open the gate of hell on Jonathan opponent |

I see the individuals around me as Nigerian and I don't discriminate based on tribe or background. Anyone who does so is closing his or her mind to the beauty in human diversity I'll want to be like you when I grow up, lol, the tribalism that goes on in this forum get me sick. It is very difficult to go through a topic on nairaland without tribal profiling, some might be doing it for fun or to get traffic bt it affect others psychologically. |
