I have picked interest in Nissan products especially the Qashqai +2. Nissan motors in Nigeria are currently being sold by Stallion Nissan Nigeria Ltd. Now, I wish to know if the Nissan cars they sell are directly made in/imported from Japan, Europe or Nissan South Africa? I would imagine a direct Japanese production would be of higher quality/spec or grade? Would also appreciate any comment on these Nissan brand new cars especially the Qashqai relative to say its equivalent among the Koreans or all these South African Toyotas/Hondas.

Kano state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has said that certain forces that are afraid of his rising political clout are trying to frustrate his presidential declaration, by denying him of access to public place that have been chosen for the event.
Speaking to newsmen in his office yesterday, Kwankwaso said he had made frantic effort to secure the Eagle Square or the International Conference Center for the declaration, but was blatantly denied by those laying claim to the ownership of the venues, saying he will not hesitate to launch the campaign on the streets of Abuja.
“We have applied for public place to declare before Nigerians and the world, but we are being constantly denied access and I want to hint that if there is no charge of heart, we would be compelled to storm Abuja streets with millions of our supporters for the declaration”, he declared.
He explained that the denial forced his campaign team to shift the earlier date scheduled for the event, adding that “Tuesday, October 28 remain a date for us and Nigerians”.
According to the All Progressives Party (APC) presidential hopeful, he was in the business of politics to prove his mettle and that no amount of executive fiat or intimidation at the center could ever suppress his willpower to actualize his burning ambition, adding that he was not under pressure to step down for anybody.
Kwankwaso stated that, “I am not under pressure to step down for anybody and no one has called me to step down for him. At this stage, stepping down would not augur well for the party; let the primary decide the fate of contestants”.
He said “We are talking of APC, a mega party; we are different from PDP, where one person will choose and decide the fate of others; but we shall go to the field to demonstrate democracy in action”.
He, however, stated that the struggle for the presidential ticket on the platform of the APC is free from rancor and less confrontational, adding that whoever wins the presidential primaries would be unanimously supported by his fellow presidential hopefuls.
“We have no reason to bicker, provided that there is a free and fair primaries; we are not going to behave like a small or medium party, where people take solace in pettiness and unnecessary gossips. We are matured people; we should be expected to play the game according to the rules”, he stressed.
Kwankwaso, who was emphatic on the presidential primaries, further revealed that the PDP had effected a negative paradigm shift, by taking the decision to hold their primaries in the Presidential Villa, saying the party would fail woefully in the 2015 presidential contest.
He said the APC was formidable and cohesive enough to take a good decision, and that the issue of forcing one to accept a sinister design does not arise.
The governor tasked the party leadership to ensure credible, free and fair presidential primary that would be acceptable to all.
Kwankwaso stated that ‘time is up for PDP misrule in the country and I want to impress it on them that any attempt to rig the 2015 general election would generate mass protest that would sweep them out of power’.
The leader of Red cap revolution revealed that he has moles and sympathisers in PDP, adding that they were hanging on to do the appropriate damage to the advantage of APC.
The most interesting thing is that people are joining the APC because of me and more would join, especially if I get the ticket and the few good guys in PDP are my friends and they are hanging on till the right time to pull out”.
He stated that “all those who are always in a haste to counter me from PDP are with us and we would win the 2015 race and the PDP would lose”.
On whether he had anointed the person to succeed him, Kwankwaso said the time was not ripe for speculation, stressing however that the APC in Kano would provide a level playing ground for every contestant to prove his efficacy.
“Anybody can buy form and enter the race. If people are really interested in consensus, it is okay. But if consensus fail, then we would go for the primaries; that is the beauty of democracy” he stated.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Audu Ogbeh has revealed that the BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group is being led by members of the party.

Ogbe Stated this in Abuja during his remark at the declaration of General Muhammadu Buhari for 2015 presidential race.

He said, "I want to thank members of the BringBackOurGirls group which is being led by members of our party".

Leaders of the group which include former minister of education Obiageli Ezekwesili, have always disassociated itself from being members of any political party, insisted that it is only concerned with the plight of the abducted Chibok girls and wants them back.

An elder statesman and ex-Minister for Special Duties in the former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, Alhaji Muhammed Bello Kirfi, has warned the North that the 2015 general election is the last chance the region has to vote out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kirfi, stated this yesterday in Bauchi, in his goodwill message at the inaugural lecture of the Bauchi Generational Leadership Awareness Initiative, entitled, ‘National Conference: National Unity and the North’, which was delivered by Barrister Solomon Dalung, saying that the region would be worse off than what it is now if the party is voted for again.

The former Minister stated that the North had suffered enough under the PDP rule, saying that the North had to take its destiny in its hands and vote the ruling party out in the next year’s general election.

He said that Nigeria needed a change at all levels.

Kirfi, who holds the traditional title of Wazirin Bauchi, stated that what was happening to the North now would be a child’s play compared to what it would further be subjected to if the region voted for the PDP in 2015.

Kirfi stated that the ruling party had deviated from the dreams of its founding fathers, who he said he was one of them, particularly on the rotational presidency, adding that he left the party in 2005 having realized that the party had deviated.

“The PDP, which we established with good intentions, adopted rotation to ensure equality, south four years, north four years. PDP proved to me that it is not the party we expected it to be. Therefore, I must speak to you and tell you that this is the last chance for the North, 2015. If you make a mistake to vote for PDP, the North’s situation will be worse off,” Kirfi stated.

Kirfi urged Nigerians, particularly Northerners, to be vigilant and vote for leaders who were selfless and committed to the cause of the common man at all levels.

According to him, the late Sardaunan of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, remained relevant to the North today as he was when he was alive because he did not only had the interest of the North and Northerners but also worked hard for the emancipation and development of the region.

“Ahmadu Bello did a lot for the North and Northerners and that is why his name in Nigeria, particularly among the Northerners, remains indelible till today and will remain forever,” Kirfi said.

Speaking in the same vein, the Secretary of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Professor Ango Abdullahi, who was the chairman of the occasion, declared that people should not only vote against President Goodluck Jonathan in next year’s elections but also all candidates fielded by the PDP.

The former Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, emphatically stated that President Jonathan ought not to contest for the Presidency again next year, saying that the North should be allowed to complete its eight-year tenure since the South, through President Obasanjo, did eight years.

Prof Abdullahi stated that though the North did not chose the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, it was natural for the region to complete the tenure of the late President on his demise, adding that Jonathan was not supposed to contest the 2011 election.

He lambasted the 15 PDP Northern governors for being part of the plot to adopt President Jonathan as the sole PDP presidential candidate for next year’s presidential election, declaring that the governors had sold the North off, asking “in whose behalf are the governors are selling us in the North?”

Abdullahi stated that the PDP was not treating the North equitably, telling the people of the region that, “since the party is not treating the North equitably, we should vote it out.”

A delegation of the “Nigeria Project 2015,” a campaign organ of the Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso at the weekend visited Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha possibly to seek a possible partnership in the contest for the presidency in 2015 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Disclosing part of the outcome of their meeting to newsmen in Owerri, the Kano State commissioner for information, youth, sport and culture, Dr Abubakar Nuhu Danburan, who is the team leader, averred that their consultation with Okorocha was to seek his partnership with Kwankwaso.

He, however, noted that they were more impressed with the blunt response from the Imo governor who, he said, told them of his similar contemplated aspiration to contest the presidency in 2015.

Danburan added that Okorocha though promised to support Kwankwaso if he eventually gets the ticket of APC.

“Our consultation with Okorocha is a good one. We told him we came to pay our respect to him and seek his support. We are fascinated with his openness of telling us about the same ambition, but he told us that if there is anybody he wants to be there, it would be Kwankwaso.”

“He also promised to be behind Kwankwaso if he wins the APC presidential ticket” Danburan stated.

The delegation shortly after their visit to Okorocha addressed some stakeholders of APC canvassing for their support to help Kwankwaso win the presidential ticket of APC.

Danburan who also addressed the stakeholders maintained that Kwankwaso is a true leader who can address the current problems bothering the nation, adding that his transformation of his state is a justification of his yawning desire to move the nation to a greater height.

“We are tired of hearing the same story everyday about the situation in the country, instead of hearing bring back our girls, what we are hearing is bring back Jonathan, we need to have a safe Nigeria that we should be proud of” Danburan said.

Three banks have recorded a negative liquidity ratio in a liquidity stress test conducted by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on 21 deposit money banks and 14 foreign subsidiaries.

Of the three, two are among those categorised as “large banks”.

Liquidity ratios measure the ability of banks to meet short term debt obligations.

The CBN Financial Stability Report released at the weekend said the zero liquidity ratio recorded by the lenders followed a cumulative 30-day shock conducted by the regulator to assess the resilience of the industry to liquidity and funding shocks. The test was conducted using the Implied Cash Flow Analysis (ICFA) and Maturity Mismatch/Rollover Risk approaches.

The ICFA test, the CBN said, assessed the ability of the banking system to withstand unanticipated substantial withdrawal of deposits, as well as short-term wholesale and long-term funding over five-day and cumulative 30-day shocks, with specific assumptions on fire sale of assets.

However, the stress test conducted, based on their end-December 2013 call reports indicated that the banking industry is stable and resilient. The key challenges in the industry, however, remain corporate governance and risk management practices.

The test assumed a gradual average outflow of 3.8, five and 1.5 per cent of total deposits, short-term and long-term funding, during a five-day assessment.

The test also showed a cumulative average outflow of 22, 11 and 1.5 per cent of total deposits, short-term and long-term funding, on a 30-day balance.

The test revealed that, after the five-day and cumulative 30-day shocks were applied, the industry liquidity ratio declined to 12.2 and 10.4 per cent, from 50.53 per cent. Most banks’ liquidity ratios were also below the 30 per cent threshold after the two scenarios.

The worst-hit were the three unnamed lenders that recorded a negative liquidity ratio, following a cumulative 30-day shock. Two of these banks were among the categorised “large banks”.

However, the report said the banking industry was resilient to liquidity stress, although the test results indicated deterioration in the banks’ resilience, compared with the position in the preceding period.

The CBN also conducted a solvency stress test on the industry to assess the stability of the sector under various hypothetically strained macroeconomic conditions.

The pre-shock Capital Adequacy Ratios (CAR) for the entire banking industry, large, medium and small banks stood at 17.20, 16.24, 18.05 and 18.33 per cent. These, the report said, reflected decreases of 1.49, 2.62, 0.2 and 0.5 percentage points over the June 2013 positions.

The CBN said its actions were focused on ensuring that the banks maintain healthy loan portfolios by creating high quality assets that will ensure sustainable growth. The regulator added that the proactive actions taken to resolve the distress situation in the system had achieved the desired results and contributed to the overall stability of the financial system.

Chief Sylvester O. Dimunah, the vice chairman of the Council of Village Heads in Imo State, has been converted to Islam.

The traditional ruler, whose name is Musa Dimunah now, said that the truthful nature of the religion, is the reason why he made the switch. He revealed that the good character of Malam Ibrahim Biobonlomije, the former secretary of the council and the executive secretary of Justice Mamman Nasir Islamic Centre for Peace and Research influenced his decision to embrace Islam.

“I did not accept Islam, I only revert to the religion that our forefathers practice and the universal religion of humanity. I’m impressed by the good nature of Muslims’ love for everybody and hatred for none apart from the way they revere Allah and all the Prophets without discrimination,” he said.

“I am also impressed by the brotherhood and mutual respect for each other and other members of the community.”


He however insisted there was no pressure to change his name, after he became a Muslim
