SportsRe: Iwobi And Okocha Talk About Iwobi's Rainbow Flick (in the match against Algeria) by zoboizee: 6:32pm On Nov 14, 2016
I wonder what's to this flick of a thing. The ref had already blown for a foul, the algerian player was running back to defend their half knowing the ref called a foul & iwobi flicking the ball over himself not the algerian, facing our own end & yet people are raving.

Certitude:
Your submission is borne out of bias.
I don't think his submission is borne out of bias. Did u see mikel's miscue at the edge of the box. Look, Mikel is a delight to watch in DMF than Onazi. Very disciplined. In 2013, against Ivory coast, he was simply a joy to behold. Marking, intercepting & initiating attack with simple but delightful passes. Onazi is better off running up & down the channels. We don't need to be asking Mikel to choose his preferred position.

Onazi was the sitting DM yet he was no where to be found when Bentaleb lunched his bullet. I am sick and tired of people always mopping about what a workaholic Onazi ,while we have players who can go combat and still create play in the midfield.
Am not so sure but was Onazi not the 17 shirted player.

TheGoodJoe:

Iwobi made classic play in build-up, switching play and Drifting to combine with Mikel.
However, he had big challenge breaking into the Algerian defence. He once again got tired early. Still blending with the African weather.
Iwobi always fizzle out in the second half. Even in Arsenal, he is always taken out first. Mind you, his form has dropped of late, unless we r not being truthful. An exquisite talent no doubt, but does he have the physicality & energy against cameroon? Time will tell.

@OdenigboAroli, The Goodjoe & @The SuperNerd, you guys are spot on in yours analysis.
*Iheanacho was impressive ysterdy. Our bench wont do better judging by their standard.#Fact.
* Alex was very poor in the second half. As at 52nd mins ought to have been taken off.
* @ goldfish80, Onazi is an indiscipline defensive midfielder so expect to see him in joining attack. David luis is another example. Personally, i will prefer mikel in that role while ndidi patner him & etebo ahead of them.
* Victor moses loves to run at defenders. it is only a CF that is prepared for give & take passes with him that will enjoy him. Hardly the type crossing into the box. Guess we saw from the FKs he took. Nothing threatening. Is like expecting a delightful cross from Echiejile, u go dry finish for sunsmiley

tbaba1234:
Oboabana is not a right back. The last time, he played right back for Nigeria against Uganda, he was a disaster. The solution to our right back issues could be this Ebuehi kid or Brian Idowu.
I disagree with you. i have watched him play right back severally. That a player had a bad game with a potpourri of players playing out of position against a team that literally packed the bus never made him a bad player. omeruo was disaster against south africa & luxembourg, shehu was against congo dr in belgium, ndidi was poor against zambia & so was musa against ethiopia at home . So that is not an excuse. He has the experience, exposure and very match ready. He plays week-in week-out. The type of players you play with inspire confidence or panic in you in a game. And the chance of ebuehi & co will always depend hope. To them we will always be second choice.smiley

Guys, i want to bring this to our notice here. i wonder why has Godfrey Oboabona been frozen out of the NT and yet we claim to have a RB problem. They kept inviting a musa mohammed they don't trust & won't use claiming rustiness & also converting a slow shehu- a defensive midfieder- as right back. I believe we all saw the case of ndidi as right back against zambia. why is it that we don't always do the right thing. Mr Rohr has two nigerians with him who probably knows the local league & probably would have seen Oboabona played as right back for sunshine star very well because i have seen him does that even on continental matches. why not invite him. he is a centre back & as well a good fullback. I can bet he is better than the lot they have at the moment. Or has he offended the nff goons?smiley

Icon4s:
Is this a prediction of how Rohr will set up the team or how YOU feel the team should be set up.
Well, anything is possible.
But have it in mind that one of the basic principles of coaching is "You dnt change a winning formation". U can substitute like for like though. Like Ighalo coming in for Ideye and Moses coming in for Simon.
I see Iwobi and Iheanacho retaining their roles as against Zambia.
Onazi-Mikel partnership is likely to continue.
This is Gernot Rohr. If it were Siasia or Oliseh i would have believed that ur formation more.
i will pick etebo ahead of either iwobi or iheanacho. He is more robust, quick, skillful, rugged, wins free kicks, can convert it too, blessed with good shots on both feet, plays pk very well, doesn't loose possession easily, tracks back & marks very well & better in aerial duels.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zoboizee: 8:14pm On Oct 30, 2016
Aluko is a better footballer than nwobodo. Pls don't compare them. it is insulting. And far more skillful, shoot better than iheanacho & iwobi. Also very deadly with freek kicks. He's had his time, now is for iwobi & co who thrives on passing the ball teaching.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zoboizee: 4:08pm On Oct 29, 2016
Iwobi has been a bit poor of late. Against Reading & today. He seems to have slowed down in pace. And his shooting needs some polishing.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zoboizee: 3:57pm On Oct 16, 2016
Moses Simon, what a blistering pace. An assist & a goal. Quick foot & lovely technique.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zoboizee: 9:31pm On Oct 11, 2016
Theo Solomon & success for instance are more skillful & witty players than ighalo & ideye combined. But who cares as long as u r nt in their favour or epl or western europe. And that boy c. nwakali is also very good. Who called ighalo when he was in norway, italy&spain. But when he moved to england he was called same with success. Nothing has changed about their games. Same style & technique. In nigeria, they have bias for certain countries & players.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zoboizee: 8:02pm On Oct 11, 2016
Lovely goal by Draxler & khedeira

What am simply saying is that ighalo holds no threat in attack for us. Am no fan of Salami & nvr will clamour for him.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zoboizee: 7:07pm On Oct 11, 2016
Personally, i think Nwobodo's undoing is his playing in the Npfl. if he had gone abroad, i am very sure he will be playing mikel's role while mikel will be playing onazi's role in the super eagles. He is most suited for that role. In Nigeria, we hold high regard for foreign base players. Nwobodo is too good not to be in the super eagles if iwobi & iheanacho can be there. My passion for him is higher than watching iwobi or iheanacho play. He is a midfield meastro. A delight in his art. His mistakes on the ball are very little. And i believe this is his generation.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zoboizee: 5:38pm On Oct 11, 2016
Any CF not scoring for us in say 3 matches is mediocre. Ighalo presence in our NT holds no threat. Even Gbolahan Salami holds a greater threat as a striker over Ighalo in the NT. believe it or not .
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zoboizee: 10:56pm On Oct 09, 2016
@princesuko
U r very correct. No similarity at all.

In our match against zambia, ndidi had good positioning, passing range & recovery, so he was spared to last in the match. If a poor player had played that rytback probably there would had being a penalty. He was very clean in marking even though he got dribbled severally. He was always closing the space & neatly chasing the opponent without any reckless foul.
Just watched Algeria vs Cameroon.
One thing i was impressed with it was the way the cameroonians closely & neatly mark the Algerians. My major concern is Echiejile. Personally speaking without disrespecting him, lowest amongst the leftback we have had since the 90's. He leaves so much space btw him and the person he is marking all the tym. And get dribbled easily at the slight move. His positioning is always suspect when marking & his crosses are totally offish. Have seen the like of bolasie & makandjo turn him to shreds & i pity him marking mahrez with his skill & pace.

When are u guys going to start discussing the Zambia match. I think enough of this European club discussions, their coaches, players and Yekini-Kanu legendary mismatch.

Rashidi Yekini is totally incomparable in feat in nigeria's club football history. Also in cote d'ivore & portugal. I remember watching him play for olympiacos & sporting gijon. He was such a delight upfront. A man who truly knew how to give the sucker punch in attack. May his soul rest in peace.

Obinna nwobodo, bundle of skill, what a delight to watch in possession. Miles ahead of his peers. A quality addition to super eagles also if included. Just need to brush up his marking. Alex iwobi looks very heavy today in movement.

Simon is in the team for the Zambia match. He played today for Gent though they lost by a goal through a wonderful freekick. He was his old self. Quick, tricky & silky. Esiti & Rabiu also played. Infact club brugge parked the big bus until simon was substituted. He was the most dangerous threat for his team. Esiti looked solid too as a DM with good eye for splitting passes but not quick in pace. He moves like a slowbie(boss). Will prefer Ndidi to him.

@forgiveness, In Nigeria's national team call ups certain factors matter.
1. Skill/Form
2. League you are playing
3.Nff connection
4. Agent connection/Pocket
5. Journalists connection
6. Nigerians call/Pressure
7. Godfather
So if you are talking of Imoh back in Qatar being his dark spot, where is musa mohmd playing? when last did he play club football? When Imoh was super hot in Belgium nobody invited him talkless of now that he is not so. Same with Success & Ighalo in Spain WIWO, no invitation.

I must confess only two box to box or defensive midfielder have impressed me so much playing for Nigeria. Raheem Lawal & Azubuike Okechukwu. For their tenacity, skill & football sense. Its obvious he has issue with someone in the federation or some journalists. They always slain him. And never judged for football reasons.

PS:
I hope one day our journalists will not say Adeoti- Caen, babatounde, imoru and other beninoise footballers like jonathan ligali are also Nigerians to be called.
