Dont quote me out of context. I have nvr hated anybody. it's unfortunate you could end up with such premise. Mind you, am not fanatic about football. Am only emphasizing what he would do when the wingers play with him. Look at ighalo, he is always running ahead of his marker in the box unlike iheanacho who is always a bit behind on his marker's blind side & mostly on-side. So it would be easier for him to score & be on-side. |
@TheGoodjoe. To create is different from converting. Ronaldo, Mahrez, Sallah, Messi & co, operates from the wings and scored lots of goals. What counts is the finishing of our wingers. Our wingers are wasteful and yes, we don't play to the strengths of our strikers, we play to the strengths our wingers, that's how SE operates. They get the opportunities to create & score more than any player on the pitch. Infact, Our national teams rely mostly on wingers because that is how we play. we are Eagles & our wings count a lot. We dont rely on free kicks nor corner kicks. because we hardly convert them. Check our Olympics stats, we wasted so many. To me, although iheanacho has the poacher's instincts & good at tap in, he will struggle a lot as a top 9 for Nigeria. Judging by our wingers will to do it alone rather than play with the striker, his skill set when facing a player is low, poor first touch, weak stamina against tall & rough African defenders. These are reasons why ighalo & co always struggle to perform. Iheanacho should be given the freedom to move around, to receive & to pass, & shoot or tap in when necessary. That's where he would strive for the eagles. And if he is to top strike, then he needs a skillful bully to play with it in attack. |
I noticed that most of you guys tend to concentrate on iheanacho but what of the whole team. if he plays 9, hope you know that supply might be short coming because that will leave him either isolated or ending up in the midfield. We need a very mobile attacking midfielders with guile, stamina & precision. who can quickly initiate attack & equally close spaces in midfield. Moses tend to play to gallery by dribbling & no end result. And Mikel is best suited for the role of defensive midfielder. He is better at shielding the centre-back than Onazi and his understudy should be Ndidi. Players like Iwobi or Etebo are more mobile in midfield. And can quickly release the ball. Ahmed Musa is just too unpredictable. To me, we are better off with: carl, musa, echiejile, omeruo, balogun, mikel, musa, etebo, iheanacho, iwobi & simon |
How come nobody is talking about Sone Aluko. That guy will be a better addition. And why not invite him to give us another dimension upfront rather than having multiple defensive midfielders like Shehu, Ndidi, Onazi, Awaziem & Mikel. Also,Etebo & Moses Simon are injured, i think Success Isaac deserves a look in. |

Icon4s:I wholly agree with you. Nigeria parade lots of average players in the NT at the moment. whose reading of the game & movements on the pitch leaves nothing to be desired. Look at our game against Tanzania for example, our substitutes in person of simon & ndidi played their role better than the guys initially in the position. Once the coach starts picking players on merits, players with tactical awareness & technical abilities, then we will do better. We need defensive midfielder who can block/break play or intercept the ball & quickly turn it into attack & is equally better in aerial duels & can move with the ball or give short or long pass with precision & with an eagle eye for goal. And we also need wingers that understand their strikers and will be ready to play with him. Someone releasing the ball on time and not foot dragging like moses all the time. |
TheGoodJoe: joseph1013But Uganda beats us at the same venue. Nothing like ordinary teams again. if u dnt do ur home work well u get beaten. Rwanda drew Ghana in the backyard, mauritania beat & drew SA, sierra leone drew civ & so on. |
if Ahmed strike for u then prepare for HBP. He his consistently inconsistent. One minute excellent the next minute annoying. That Ahmed can kill someone. Remember the SA game in Uyo. Yes, he was our striker. Chance after chance, he was wasting it just like his sake did yesterday. |
if our leftback is to be left in care of Amusie & co then it is definitely going to remain our weak point for a very long time. it is better we convert Omeruo or Awaziem than those two technically & tactical deficient fellows. Most goals we concede comes from that leftback. |
BascoVanVeli:i think it has nothing to do with luck & nothing also about the stadium being jinxed. our strikers have poor shooting technique and needs to be quick in decision making. "Ighalo will never deliver" because he's too average. Playing in England brought him to prominence otherwise he was never considered. Nothing exceptional about him. Ahmed Musa is always oscillating from excellent to mediocre and at worst annoying. So our midfield and attack needs intelligent players not just banal players with poor positioning & reading of the game, players who can not swiftly turn a game around with a sweet touch of technical awareness. We need quick thinking players, energetic, that can pass very well, close down space, & easily turn defence to attack & vice versa |
Hmmm..."iheanacho almost perfect". it is well. But i know he's very far from perfect. |
yenum10:Guys, will i still have my strong decoder patched(biss & powwervu menu working) if i pair my strong decoder with their stronghd/ftv card. |
tbaba1234:To me, Azubuike is arguably the player of the tournament for his all action work rate. But i agree with u on Etebo, Imoh, Daniel, Ekong, & Shehu. Although, i always wonder why Shehu & Amusie kept overlapping when they basically lack the technique or finesse to either cross in, cut back, shoot accurately or dribble their way inside the box. They are thus creating unnecessary gap at the back. They did it in all our matches. Very poor full backs. |

with one exception. In most of the games, he was a DMF. That's where he strives most. Mikel's style soothe that role a lot. And i wonder why we still keep deploying him to attacking position where he slows down counter attacks and can hardly shoot with strong & accurate force from distance. Did u see the best goal in belgium last season? it was by a DMF( ndidi). Hope Amusie, Seth, sadiq & co wont finish us tonite. |
terzurum5:Hmmmm..... Nigerian journalists! They can lie. How many matches has Musa played? Not one Super lig appearance in Turkey. And now he's quickly penciled down. Soon they will say Etebo fit for Germany game despite reporting hamstring that can take 4 solid weeks. |
I think Mikel is best of a defensive midfielder. he's had more interception than usman. Imoh still the most enterprising so far. My best- Imoh, Shehu, Mikel, Etebo, & Troost.. That Amusie positioning & crossing needs lots of improvement. |
We are too gullible in this country. That they were disqualified does not mean they were all overage. I remember a 17 years old American born player who was about to play for Nigeria but was disqualified by the scan as overage. |
[quote author=tbaba1234 post=48040726]Nwakali was very good in the final but he also played a number of average games.[/quote its normal. Even the best in the world have his average games. |

TheGoodJoe:Yes. On the bench. Kelechi Nwakali will perform far better than this Ovie in that same role & style of play you have seen in him. How come you have never seen kelechi Nwakali to hype about. its simple. He is not European. Go and watch their videos very well. |
tbaba1234:Our football administrators are sick in the head. Always waiting for a player to hit the headlines before they invite him the national team. why didn't they invite him to the super eagles when was in the U18 & U21 to come & train. Now that he is hugging the headlines in Pre-season they are talking trash. Nwobodo is there & other very good boys but nobody invited them to Super Eagles that lack creativity & skill in midfield. But they are quick to call in English boy wonder. Am sure when the season gets underway & success score a goal or two he would be among their list in attack. Good for nothing corrupt folks. |
@TheGoodJoe. Oviemuno Ejaria is a learner compared to Obinna Nwobodo in every aspect of the game. He was released on free by Arsenal. I have watched both of them very well. The class is not close at all. its just like comparing Austin Okocha with Abedi Pele. They are both fantastic players but one is better. |
Typical JJ in the early 90's . Always showboating & losing possession. I like the coach's punishment. |
Ovie is an attacking midfielder. I have watched a lot of him on youtube from his Arsenal days to Liverpool junior team. He is more of vieira and pogba hybrid. The problem with us is we follow these europeans to hype their players and hardly watch our own local players play week in week out at the park, field or stadium. Fact still remain, there are lot of local kids in naija who plays far better. And nobody will ever hype them. Until Iheanacho went to city, did anybody hype him in the media in Nigeria? Am very sure no. |
@Semid4lyfe. You are very correct. Just like Christain Obodo. Nothing special about him to me. Will rather have Obinna Nwobodo in that role. He is faster. |
Guys pls can 1m dish c band lnb pick the global beam of intelsat 10-02 @ 0.08w/1w in nigeria? |
I think Junior & Imoh are better option than umar. i have seen some of his videos in the primavera in italy. Compare to the two, umar may not even make the team. Professional & international matches are not the same with youth matches. Awoniyi, Success & iheanacho use to score for fun in the Youth set up but look at them now. The stake is higher. |
But they play diff role. one is defensive the other is attacking. Nwobodo distributes the ball better while ifeanyi is solid defending. The trio won a gold for us in senegal. They are that good. |
Nff officials, board, committee members & coaches are nothing but scouts & agents chasing naira & hard currencies. While we nigerians are getting high blood pressure over the team, they rakes in millions with thier boys slot. They are not interested in super talents we know playing abroad, but more in their own scouted talents getting abroad & bringing in the cash flow. So guys, make una watch una BP over our national teams oooo! A word of advice. |
I trust nff, they are only waiting to sack him after rio then probably pocket his balance. |
Mickael2:No big deal. With NFF and Eagles, we shall see. Hope u wont lose ur blood pressure to it. ![]() |
