KrazzyAndy: Good evening everyone Please I'm trying to get my brother to school in Canada as an undergraduate... Please can anyone tell me step by step procedures on how to go bout and how much will it cost.. Also stating the fact that my brother is quite smart so if there's any scholarship available for him to take...thank you for your assistance Good day @krazzyandy Steps to applying to colleges/universities in canada 1.)decide which degree you want to get for an out of high school student either A diploma program-2yrs course An advanced diploma-3yrs course An undergraduate degree-4-5yrs course 2.) Reserch on the school you want to go to and check out their requirements COLLEGES- waec, neco, ielts(some schools waive it for Nigerian students why some mandate it) And the minimum grade for a diploma or an advanced diploma is C6 in all compulsory subjects. UNIVERSITIES- waec, neco, ielts (some schools waive it for Nigerian students why some mandate it) And the minimum grade for most undergraduate program is B3-C5 in all compulsory subjects. 3.) after checking out the requirements and you are sure you have met all you proceed to apply using the school official site(make sure to Google well on this) the you apply. Some schools tell you to upload transcripts via the application portal while some tell you to mail them through courier services to the school international admission. 4.) You proceed with payment and this varies across schools some charge about 75cad up to 120cad for international students make sure to reserch well on this also. About scholarship there are different types Entrance scholarships- this are awarded to student who has achieved academic excellence in highschool and has met a certain percentage set by the school you don't apply for it, you are awarded by merit. The awards, bursaries and scholarships-are provided and administered by external government, corporate or community organizations. You apply for this and they vary with different requirements set by those awarding it. Hope this helps. |

Good day @Enjay316 Are the payments consistent? do you receive it that way every month ?if yes then you don't have any problem it won't affect your application. Hope this helps. |

Askin4somtin: Good day gurus in the house. Weldone for helping out. Please I need advice here cos I'm confused on this one.
Someone graduated from secondary school since 2015 and has been running her undergraduate studies since same year in a state owned university. She has since written her final exams and is through with all the paper work in school but due to some internal and external crises in the school her results are yet to be released.
She wanted to apply for a master's program but no BSc result yet. So she wants to try an undergraduate program.
Now the dilemma... 1. Considering that she has left secondary school since 2015 (about 6 years ago) will she be deemed eligible for a study permit even if she gets an admission for an undergraduate degree?
2. Will it not be red flags that she has been idle for over 6 years?
3. Is there an exam she should write before securing admission or study permit? She said she looked through some university website and it wasn't expressly stated whether she can apply with Nigeria SSCE or not.
4. Please help with university(ies) that she can apply to if she is eligible considering the issues I raised above. She wanna study BSc Biology.
God's favour on all applications. Good day @Askin4somtin 1.) yes she would be. 2.)well it would reduce the chances of getting one but it depends on how well she can convince the vo officer. 3.) Applying to universities and colleges in Canada for Nigerian students you either use your waec or neco(waec is the most accepted ) Some also ask for ielts exams, if you do your research you would be able to tailor them to your suite. 4.)a.) university of alberta- b.sc in biology b.)Memorial university-b.sc in biology c.)University of Calgary-b.sc in biological science d.)University of Manitoba-b.sc in biological science e.) University of regina-b.sc in biology It would be better if she could wait for her results to come out and apply for a masters degree or a graduate diploma because if she decides to go that route convincing the visa officer of your activities from 2015 till date would prove difficult and you would not want to include fake documents as this is not advisable. Hope this helps. |

darey360: Pls how long does the Form A take? What if I register for a domiciliary account ? and get some dollars in, will that work? also what if my sister in Uk help with the payment ? would the exchange rate be much considering the conversion of naira to pounds Thanks a lot for your reply Good day @darey360 If you can register for a dormicilary account then go ahead and fund it then pay with your card note that you won't be able to meet the deadline through this route... Yes your sister can help you make the payment and about the exchange rate no one can really tell you that because it would be converted from pounds to cad and if she is using flywire (cause that's what most colleges in canada uses in receiving school fees payment) she would be charged in pounds and payment received in cad. Hope this helps. |

Toluwarnih: Hello @zodiacwarrior Well, I haven't gotten any other response from anyone here since then. So I want to reduce my filters and make enquiries on how easy it can be to get a scholarship after gaining admission through the normal process, probably after spending a year. Or if possible be able to get fundings from manual part time jobs. Have you seen cases like these? Good day @toluwarnih Like I said earlier even after complete the first year getting full funded scholarships for undergraduate program or advanced diploma is close to impossible and if anyone has gotten on this platform you can let the house know how you did it. I don't quite understand what you mean by fundings for manual jobs but if you mean salaries paid for manual jobs there are certain expenses you must consider like rent, feeding etc and if you want to follow this route you must be extremely strict in your budget and cut unwanted costs.....it won't be easy though as you have to navigate school with work and might not be able to raise the whole fees but all our efforts tends to pay at the right time. And if you have more questions ask. Hope this helps. |

AZeD1: Nobody can really answer the question for you. At the airport, your box will be checked and it should be about 23kg +/-. The box you buy is dependent on you. If you want a box that weights 8k, that's fine. You can also get a bag that weighs 1kg and that's also fine.
At the end of the day, the box/bags and it's content should be 23kg +/-. Thank your very much |

buchito1: I'm sorry about that bro.
But you should know you have no choice than to get yourself a normal box and stuff what you can till it doesn't exceed 23KG.
The larger the box, the larger weight and you can't stack above 23KG. So Just get yourself something medium bro. Thanks man I really appreciate sorry for my comments I'll do that asap. |

buchito1: Bro, Why don't you just buy a Ghana must go bag It shouldn't be up to 0.0005 KG See another one you know it's this thing's you do on platforms that restricts people from answering questions and feel inferior. I asked a question and am confused there is nothing wrong if I made an error and you stand to correct me I would gracefully appreciate it because it's something that is new to me and have never bought a box before I just saw the 23kg box requirements and decided to ask when I know I would be provided answers and this is what I get. Am sure you must know it all if not you won't tell me to do this. I very much appreciate you thanks. |

Frankrobbn1: There are some certain schools in Canada that you will struggle to obtain a Canadian study visa if you use their acceptance letter for your visa application. This is most often caused by several factors which include:
A. If the school is located in a remote area in Canada. B. The cost of the program in the school.
I'll point out a few schools I know that international students specifically from Nigeria struggle to obtain visas to study in Canada;
The names of these institutions are as follows;
1. New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) 2. Novia Scotia Community College (NSCC) 3. College of the North Atlantic (CNA) 4. Saskatchewan Polytechnic (SP) 5. ST. CLAIR COLLEGE 6. Red River College 7. Sheridan College 8. Confederation College and a few others.
It will end in praise Good day @frankrobbn1 Can you please explain to us why you said those schools would be difficult, from your observations what were the points you noticed for coming to that conclusion. Thanks. |

Is travel history compulsory? If i can convince the VO through my SOP that I will will be coming back, will it save me?
10kCAD amounts up to 3m naira right? Good day @emmalextemtop Yes you can upload the house documents but not for the car that's not an assets. Yes having a travel history also gives your application and edge but its not a guarantee to getting visa, if you upload the right documents and a convincing sop with baba God blessings you should be fine. About the rates as at today 1cad is sold for 339.88 at uba do the calculations and you get the rough estimate. Hope this helps. |

emmalextemtop: Thanks so much for your response. Do appreciate! When do you think is the best time to apply for visa application to avoid unnecessary delay. Is it much earlier before the date issued by the ircc on their site or that very date or later from that day? Have seen people submitted early but still delayed in a way. I am for winter 2022. I deferred from this September though cos i couldn't meet up with the submission in May 15th last month.
How do i save the docs (Immf) and upload in my GC-key account?
Assuming am to get an additional reference letter about me from my uni, from my project supervisor, do you think he is going to have the letter headed paper of the school. (Wanted to ask here first before i decided to ask from him or not)
Thank you! Good day@emmalextemtop First of all immediately you get you admission letter and have all the required documents to apply at hand go ahead and put in an application. Next it depends on how you want to save them you can convert them to PDF which should not exceed the required mb for each sections and upload. Lastly having the letter head of the school would be better. Hope this helps. |

Mofolam: If you enrolled for a 2 year program and you decide to accelerate your studies to finish in 1 year. You are qualified for a 3yrs pgwp. Your program will be still be seen as what it is (a 2 yr program) just make sure you submit a loe when applying for your pgwp. But note that as long as you are enrolled you must not work more than 20hrs. Even during summer when other international students are doing 40hrs. Yes this is very much correct it would mean you have to sacrifice your summer to meet up to the 2 extra semester for a 1year accelerated program that should have been 2yrs Hope this helps |

Good day everyone in the house
I have a question about the issue of this 2 23kg box do they mean each box must weigh 23kg when buying it or when you get to the airport and they weigh it the whole content must not exceed 23kg.
Because I see people on the group saying they bought 23kg box and after all the weighing and evaluation it exceeded 23kg and some were asked to pay extra costs while some began removing items.
Thanks for your response. |

Toluwarnih: Long post! Hello and good morning everyone, I've been following this thread for long, but just today I decided to surf through thoroughly. To be sincere, I've never been so inspired to study outside the country. At first, I went to the USA student travel thread, but my all time love for Canada made me stop reading the posts there and come here. I've read some testimonies, and I must say my hope gets more strengthened as I go through each one of them.
I'm a 200lv student currently studying one agric related course in Nigeria and I study hard to get good grades. But not so long ago, precisely about two months ago I woke up to a new dream of studying computer science, and my will for getting the dream realized seems to be growing stronger everyday. I learnt I can't cross to computer science because I didn't do mathematics in my jamb and post utme, and I don't think I can convince dad to make me start over(I'm not the only child, lol). In fact, after much thought, I concluded that the only chance dad can give me to start over is if I can ɠet a scholarship.
So this morning while going through posts about scholarship and and student travels here, I got a new idea. Which is to apply for the computer science course to a school abroad that has scholarship funding. So now, I'm after two things; studying abroad, and in an entirely different field.
Is this possible please, has anyone ever successfully got this pulled off? And how do I go about it, even if only tuition will be covered?
Ps. Not compulsorily a Canadian university please. Don't mind my blunders and the long post please, SOMEBODY SHOULD PLEASE ADVICE ME!!!
Thanks in advance Good day @toluwarnih About the issue of getting scholarships in Canada for an undergraduate degree isn't that hard but getting a fully funded one might be a bit of a problem. I don't think have come across any international student at the undergraduate level who got a full funded scholarship except for those going for masters or Phd's. But if your results are as good as you say you would surely get scholarship to offset the costs of tuition fees but nevertheless you might still need to pay some part of the tuition fees even if you get it. Hope this helps. |
