Director of Operations at Geofocus, Engr. Mutiu Idris has expressed strong confidence in the Lagos-Abuja Super Highway and High-Speed Train projects, emphasising their role in transforming Nigeria’s economy.
With this initiative, he said Nigeria was poised to unlock unprecedented economic potential, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous, modern and efficient transportation sector.
According to him, addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure deficits, particularly in road and rail transport, is essential for driving economic growth, wealth creation, and sustainable development in Africa’s largest economy by GDP.
He noted that the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, identified the Lagos-Abuja High-Speed Railway and Super Highway as a key economic driver in 2016 will be led by the AEC-Geofocus consortium.
He said that the Lagos-Abuja corridor, spanning approximately 500 kilometers, will connect Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Kogi, and Niger states before reaching Abuja, under a design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Maintain (DBFOM) model.
Idris noted that AEC-Geofocus, a consortium of engineers, planners, and investors, has successfully attracted $16 billion from Middle Eastern investors, with additional interest from European financial institutions and the World Bank.
The financial framework, he explained, was designed to minimise government expenditure, safeguard public funds and prevent cost overruns through an efficient risk-sharing mechanism.
Idris described the high-speed train component as a double-gauge rail line capable of speeds up to 250 km/hr, with two main stations in Lagos and Abuja as well as 11 intermediate stops.
According to him, the bullet train traveling at 250 km/hr, will cut Lagos-Abuja travel time from 10 hours by road to just 3 hours. The Super Highway will reduce travel time to 5 hours.”
He also mentioned that the super highway would feature eight lanes, two service lanes, and 13 tolling points, supporting faster and safer travel between Nigeria’s two key cities.
Beyond transportation, Idris revealed plans for ten smart cities, one million housing units and an independent power plant, positioning the project as a transformative initiative for Africa.
Expressing optimism, he assured stakeholders of a grand project flag-off before February 2025, reiterating AEC-Geofocus’ commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure.
He praised the Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Alkali, for his commitment to transformative infrastructure, underscoring the project’s potential to revolutionise Nigeria’s transportation sector and economy.

alabiman: A shocking CCTV footage has captured the moment a thief stole a solar light from a residential area. The brazen thief, seemingly unaware of the camera's presence, can be seen approaching the solar light, removing it, and making a quick getaway. The footage serves as a reminder of the importance of securing one's property and being vigilant in the face of potential theft.
DyshApp: A lady, simply identified as Ene, has given reasons why she dropped out of the Birmingham University, citing unpleasant experiences.
Ene, in a post on social media, on Tuesday, revealed that she dropped out of Birmingham University as she could no longer bear the terrible conditions.
She wrote, “I went to a private university. Phones were not allowed, girls weren’t allowed to make their hair below their shoulders, you cannot wear slippers before 4pm.
“You cannot cook in the hostel so you must buy 3 meals everyday, you will be suspended for missing chapel, you will be suspended for getting abused, once you get to school, you cannot leave again unless you sign an exeat that your parents call to confirm.
“Your department can literally drop you without telling you. When you get to 500 level, they come and tell you to switch to 200 level in another department because your results were poor. And you’ll pay fresh school fees.
“Security men will parade and if they see a boy and girl standing together, they’ll exploit them for money or threaten to set them up for expulsion.”
She noted that she could not cope with all the rules and regulations and had to drop out.
Next time look before you leap and flock with your crowd!
IBB007: Lol…more of that please…make spare parts seller sef relocate to Aba
Folks in Lagos where the larger number of cars are will travel to Aba to buy spare parts when the Lagos ports are available 🧐. See, goods and services seek the market.m The market is in Lagos, Kano, Port-Harcourt and Onitsha.
SmartPolician: Oga Paul, charity begins at home. Expand your business to your region. Hospitality business is thriving in Imo State.
Why not create an artificial lake in Owerri and build a tourist centre in your home state. You invest your money elsewhere, a government comes and ruins everything.
Tell your fóolish Tinubu to hang Nnamdi Kanu, if he has the balls to do that, that's when I will truly believe that he's a man
Discretion will suggest to not make your kind of response. Same manner Nnamdi Kanu and the Igbo generally refer to Nigeria as a zoo and unwittingly tagged themselves and other Nigerians as animals. Isn't it strange that the Ohanaeze now pleads with The Nigerian President they refer to as an animal to release Nnamdi Kanu in a manner not in accordance with the Law. Nolle is to be exercised responsibly and which a measure of gravity and not in favour of Nnamdi Kanu who has turned out in court and out of court to be as recalcitrant as they come!
Nnamdipapa: A prisoner is giving conditions. I blame the federal government and our useless judicial system.
There is enough evidence for Kanu to hang but we are never serious. Create a panel of special prosecutors to convict the guy. It should not take more than six months I swear.
That was under the infamous rule of the cheap thief known as Sanni Abacha!
Makes you wonder why the hegemonic despots, pulling the strings from behind the scenes, are so desperate for this woman to continue presiding over this laughable case! They probably don't want to take the pains to find yet another judge they can compromise or threaten into sticking to the script!
You will do well to view the numerous YouTube videos of Nnamdi Kanu in which he conducted himself in a manner treasonable. Sam Ekpa has similar videos on YouTube which he laughably claims were jocular clips now that the sharp fins of the Finns are pressing on him!
Even Ohanaeze in their wobbly ways will not grant bail to one whose aimed shot barely missed their head and was subsequently apprehended by the law after he fled the scene of the attempted killing! They have not grown up for nothing! The grey hair on their head must display wisdom indeed and not foolishness.
So long as he continues in his filibustering ways will he remain incarcerated. It is not within his rights to pick and choose the forum and Judge to try him. The record of proceedings in that court and in the matter will disclose the sort of Defendant Nnamdi Kanu has been.
MadPolitician: Agbadorian dingbats You guys stole a presidential elections but can't even run a good government to save your lives. Bunch of ineffective buffoons. This was how you guys ran down NITEL, Nigerian Airways, Nigerian Shipping line, first generation banks and insurance companies, NEPA, name them... Even NNPC went bankrupt under your owambe sleaze. You want power just to loot. Nothing else..
Delusion is an affliction! I am no partisan politician. It is only in the real of delusion that anyone will say that Peter Obi could have won or that he won the last Presidential elections. No one can win the Presidential election in Nigeria without the support of the North of Nigeria. Peter Obi did not win in the North at the last Presidential election and will not win Northern votes any day soon. Truth is the North of Nigeria are more politically conscious than the South who think they are sophisticated. The North exemplifies the K.I.S.S. acronym. He behaves like he knows nothing while digging in!
DSS and law enforcement agents will do well to ignore the rabble-rouser and confused lot rolled into an entity known as Peter Obi. He seeks cheap popularity the which keeps devaluing him and his lot. Delusion is a terrible sickness to have. Peter Obi and his lot are infected with delusion! Arresting him to prove his allegation will only make him more cheaply popular and that is what he seeks daily.
Tochitee: But when Kanu was ordering his soldiers to kill Nigeria officers and jubililating and celebrating their demise,it was not injustices because their lives did not matter?? The problem with you nattering nitwits is,you support evil when they favour you, that’s why the country treats people from your side as refuses and shit!
The way the Igbo keeps carrying on in Nigeria power will not be entrusted to them any day soon. Just pitiable! They keep sowing seeds of distrust calling Nigeria a Zoo and by implication calling The Nigerian President an animal and they expect one dubbed "animal" to release another who called him an animal from a just and lawful incarceration! By the way, Sam Ekpa has been quiet of late! How illogical and nonsensical can the Igbo be on this matter!!! Nnamdi Kanu should face his trial!!!!
Johnpiss: This is my man of the year, alongside His Excellency, Sir PETER GREGORY OBI.
A kind brother should pls kindly assist me with something to buy what to eat pls. I can't sleep honestly
8 1 31 fifty fifty 75 Opay
True and well meaning Igbo don't beg for something to eat - they work! I have never all my decades on earth seen an Igbo man beg for money or food and I mean that!! Stop t demeaning the Igbo - go get something to do and you will get something to eat!!!
You think we are fools and deluded souls. Just listen to yourself! How well did you do the other day standing surety for Nnamdi Kanu. See what it has cost the South-East of Nigeria till date! Delusion is a bad phenomenon. You and your ilk are deluded folks!!
