Somebody wrote that America/Israel has never been humiliated in war; sorry, you are wrong.

America was humiliated by Japan in ww2, but for the use of Nulear weapon they were completely messed up. We are also familiar with their humiliation by Vietnamese.

As for Israel which is a proxy country for America was roundly messed up by little Hezbollah in 2006.

I think Annan is wrong to have accepted the job, but i absolutely agree that he should resign, because the West would not let negotiation work. The west blocked the diplomatic intervention of Africa in the Libya crisis, until they achieved their target.

As for those who call Assad a killer; please don't forget that Assad was trained in the west and married a Swedish lady. The country was essentially peaceful, until the west thought it is time to dislodge Syria in preparation to invade IRAN as they have done in over 30 countries in our recent history.

ocelot2006:

I suggest you read about the conflicts in the first 2 countries you mentioned. First of all, the Iranians won't fight conventionally. Why not ask the Americans about Iraq were Iranian Qud Force supplied insurgents with the training and weapons? And why don't you ask the Isrealis about the disastrous 2006 Lebanon War were a small but highly trained Hezbollah (funded and trained by Iran) practically shattered the myth of the IDF's invincibility? As we speak, Iranian IRCG Special Force Qud are on ground in Syria fighting against the rebels.

With respect to Kosovo, you forgot to mention that the US and NATO failed to stop the Russian VDV (Airborne) from taking over the airport there in the mid-90s. And how about South East Asia were the US Navy has failed to curb China's growing military influence?

Oh btw, the Russians just delivered more sophisticated Air Defense Systems and Attack Helicopters to Syria. How come the US couldn't stop them?
I really love this post.
I think america is overated. To the best of my knowledge, they have never gone to war alone. Even if they provide the most troops, the troops and materials supplied by other countries is consequential.
When they went all out with vietnam, they were humiliated.
Even with their technology and allies, they didn't find it easy displacing saddam even though saddam's army was surprisingly ill equipped and un organised.
The americans themselves know iran produce their own weapons and so many technological equipment and the people are ready to fight together with the military without incentives unlike iraq where the soldiers were not committed.
The american's started this so called arab spring revolution in iran after ahmadinejihad won his second term, but the sponsored revolt was quelled. Iranian government then accused the CIA /U.S of being behind it.
Even with the three musketeers ( US, UK, and france) including italy heavily supplying the libyan rebels just as they want to do in syria, gaddaffi had already finished them and backed them to the sea. They were about to be massacred but for the military intervention of NATO/US.
Without the NATO physically intervening in syria, the rebels would be crushed. They are already being routed. China and russia knew, which was why they vetoed against military intervention.
Even though they are socialists, thank God for russia and now china for providing some sort of check and balance because if america had absolute power, they would be dictating who to be our local government chairmen.
They are hypocrites and the worst dictators to the rest of the world. Its america and others

Stand by and do nothing? In what world have you been? America has been doing underground work long before now, just that the Assad regime wasn't budging and the U.S. just declared their intentions OPENLY. Thanks to their Russian Allies, that have voted "CONTINUOUSLY with A NO" to Syrian sanctions. Let me ask you, all the diplomatic and military defection in the Assad regime, you think diplomats and generals just thought it was nice to defect? Come on man, live in reality. Assad was committing a Human Right violation but he did not pose any threat to other nations like having nuclear weapons like Iran does...

Asking the CIA and probably in the future sending military artillery down there with spiral the events of what's gonna happen. Ain't no telling just like Libya, Syria WILL NEVER remain the same. I love America, but I got to say the truth sometimes, American leaders are doing too much, in this case work with sanctions and diplomacy not arming rebels with sophisticated weapon that U.S. may never get back or even control.

exactly my thought, after arming the Libyan rebels, they come back to complain about arms in neighboring Mali, which calls for another intervention, lol, and the intervention continues. who benefits in the end?

I beg to disagree, America is helping to make the world a safer place.

Yes they are, but while doing that, they are protecting their own interest, especially Now that china challenges them in every possible ways, china having a great bond with more countries daily, especially African countries e.t.c. Recently the USA said China are into a kind of re-colonization, with its extending arms of aid to developing countries all over the world.
Talking about politics, when your opposition command larger force especially the hungry ones, and your opposition has what you have and shown you it takes them nothing to do what you do. They become an unpredictable threat to deal with.
America and China, as of today are great rivals.

Bro! i disagree with you totally on Isreali-hezbollah war also known has the Lebanese war. the Lebanese were greatly harmed and the isrealis had taken over some part of their country before the UN helped in the resolution. please try verify this. and am very sure,

Kofi Annan is useless, he's nothing but a muppet to the West. He was absolutely useless when he was the UN Secretary, it was revealed in the Wikileaks cables that his conversations were secretly listened to by the Americans. What is he doing about the plight of innocent Black African migrants lauguishing in Libya jails who are bn abused daily by the racist rebels. Kofi Annan makes me sick, his son made millions from the Iraq Food Programme when it was invavded. The West are not to bn trusted by any country, couple of yrs ago, they were wooing and dinning with Gaddaffi, they turned a blind eye to his ruthless crackdown of his opponents because of Libya's oil but yrs later, they toppled him with the help of NATO,the same thing with the Egyptian president, look at what is happening in Egypt, the military calls the shots while the new president is a sitting duck president. Revolution!! What Revolution. The West is focusing on Syria while turining a blindeye to the ruthless crackdown of protesters calling for reforms in Bahrain. Jordan & Saudi Arabia because they are friends of the West. Assad will not go, China & Russia wil continue to supply it with arms

Good idea for Annan,he must not use his life to pay for the politics of war which the Russian,Chinese and the western nations has been playing over the war in Syria for their own national economic interest.i am strongly in support of the move, becouse the Russians,Chinese and the western power are fighting an internal battle that that is not clear to Africa in particular.

I strongly suggest you read about the 2006 Lebanon war again. It was simply a military disaster for Isreal.

Kofi Anan the former French stooge at the United nations is quitting simply in a timely manner, after Atta Mill's death, because he is planning to take a chance in domestic politics. Many say the man is interested in the top job.
Re: Kofi Annan Resigns As UN Envoy To Syria by Nobody: 2:15pm On Aug 04, 2012
Billyonaire: The Syria Mission is a delicate one, Annan needs to stay away before this gets to WW3, America, Britain and Qatar has been arming the rebels, while Russia has been arming the Government. I dont know why Assad is not ready to step down and spare his life. This war, will take every of their souls. Someone has to talk to Assad. Once that chemical weapon stock-pile gets into rebel hands, it might finds its way into Nigeria. God help us.
Which is exactly why ASAAD MUST STAY! if he leaves, the rebels with the islamist goons will start distributing nerve gas to kill infidels worldwide.
