Thermostat issue::::::
Dear Sienna and Ikenna, pls i need ur assistance on thermostat issue. i bought a Toyota camry '96 threee months ago (registered one). My 1st ever car, then i observed that i top d water in d radiator up almost everyday. i complain to my Mech, he told me dat he'll av to remove d thermostat, that he was surprise to still found it in there as a "Naija used car"... So he removed it and told me that i won't av cause to top d water in d radiator up anymore. To my surprise it didn't work as i still top it up on a daily basis. My neighbour told me that i shouldn't av allow him to remove it, but i felt am still on a right path. Then i travelled to Ijebu ode from Lagos, getting to dere, as i switched d engine off, i was ask to restart it and move forward to allow others park there car, to my disappointment, it didn't start again. i cald a Mech d following day n he discover that my fuel pump is damaged, and i had to change it. Then my car once again start n i was able to move it. After reading much on this thread, i think it's appropriate for me to fix d thermostat back. My car consume more fuel at d same time...... Pls how do i go about fixing d thermostat. Pls assist me....08033788547 call me, i'll return ur the call immediately i identify u. Pls help me.... God bless

This is a wrong place to post this. There are so many threads/topics on cooling system where you can post the issue with your car cooling system or even learn from such threads how to fix those issues.

My friend, you need to check the hose coming from the radiator into the engine. the hose is usually held firm by a clip. if the hose clip is not strong enough to hold back the water pressure from the radiator, it will be leaking out of that point and because that part of the engine is very hot, it will dry up the water and will not allow for dropping to see the leakage. bear in mind that the leak will occur only when the pressure comes up from the radiator, and in most cars radiator pressure picks up when the car is getting hot, and by then your car engine metals are already hot.

Check it and get back to me. As per the thermostart removed from your car, that is not much of a problem as most car in nigeria have it removed and nobody has ever come up with problem that has to do with the thermostat removal. its work is to regulate the cooling system, but in nigeria, we have temperature not less than 32 degrees in most places and can raise very easily. so continues cooling is needed. BUT!! this is not good for recent cars.

Nice post, even though i do not totally agree with your last paragragh.

Please, this thread is not for a post like yours above. Read the first post on this thread. The thread is not for us to discuss issues with our cars or solutions/suggestions to those issues with our vehicles.

We are here to talk about what we dont like about the moderator, problems we are having with our posts & threads/topics, suggestions on how to improve on the section, etc.

Good job you're doing with this page I must write. However, I have to plead that for every thread that'll make the front page, please allow it to generate a little steam from the car enthusiasts in the car talk section. That way, educative and enlightening topics (and commentators) are spared the barrage of ignorance and insults that plague most Nairaland topics. Many enlightening threads have died prematurely as a result of serious derailments. I would be grateful if I'll be so obliged. Thanks.

No, am not out of my mind. Sorry, i dont tolerate tribal-attack posts in car talk.

Were you not the one that posted this: "Okija Juju is an Ibhoe boy , ediot. As if the greatest enemies of Yorubas aren't Ibhoe", here http://www.nairaland.com/1109979/innoson-motors-worlds-first-black-owned

If you dont like my method, you can tell admin or Seun to give the moderator to someone else. But as long as i remain the moderator of this section, no tribal hates here. Thanks.

Anyway, i dont know much about the car. But i do know that a former colleague had used a Lexus and I can tell it served him well. It was a good one.

Posman: PLS HOW CAN I CREATE MY OWN TREND TOPIC?? plssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Go to the first page of this section. Directly above this topic, you will see a bracket (create new topic). Click it. It will open a box. On top of the box, you will see a column for you to enter or type in the subject. After that, click inside the box and type in your issues or enquiry. When you are done, click submit, which is below the box and then, the topic or thread is started. Goodluck!

I don't get you Moderator. You did not penalize the guy who was desperate to find solution to his problem, instead, you are penalizing me that provided him with a suggestion. When you say, the forum is to talk about problem with post and forum, what do you mean. cos I see how people use abusive words here and you never say anything. Sorry for making the suggestion as I will rather step out of this forum. I don't criticize people, instead I read in between the lines to get the massage and give solution if I have one. Have a nice day.

Am really confused here.

Please, define the "penalize" to me.

What punishment did you get for posting that please? Was your post hidden? Were you banned for that post? Did I send you a warning PM? Did i insult you for posting that in my post? What exactly was the penalization?

Even the post you commented on was hidden, yet yours wasn't. How then did you say i didn't "penalize" the guy, instead, you?

I really dont know what to say here, honestly.
