We want to rain down curses on GEJ because he refused to call for the review of a judgement that was passed ten years ago and has only hours any window for appeal to close, una clap for yourselves

IF YOU ASK ME, BAKASI WAS SOLD BY OBJ . OBJ WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE RULING IF HE DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO GAIN .

Posterity wil not forgive Gowon,OBJ and pres.jonathan for ceding bakaasi to cameroun. Murtala muhammed and Abacha the two former head of states who stood their ground that no inch of nigerian territory including bakaasi wud be ceded to any country under woteva guise or circumstances must be weeping in dia graves now. Jonathan is a coward and embarassment to d country. We neva had it so bad like this.

Gen Sani Abacha is getting popular by the day inspite of what the western media made us believe at some point. He told Cameroon point blank; we dont negotiate bakassi with instruction to our military to take out any Gendarme that enters the area.
GEJ has shown that he is weak President who easily concedes defeat. What is he going to tell Nigerian youths about not giving up until it is over?
Now a part of South-South has been sold out finally by their son who had no shoes to go to school at some point in his life.
PDP government is a dissappoint.

He said the government “is however concerned about the plight of Nigerians living in the Bakassi Peninsula and the allegations of human rights abuses being perpetrated against Nigerians in the Peninsula and is determined to engage Cameroon within the framework of the existing implementation mechanisms agreed to by Nigeria and Cameroon in order to protect the rights and livelihoods of Nigerians living in the Peninsula.

This should be our concern!
The welfare of the people!
Someone suggested that Nigeria should try out buying Bakassi from Cameroon, sentiments aside, it's a good suggestion anyway.

hardbody: view of the foregoing, the Federal Government is of the informed view that with less than two days to the period when the revision will be statute barred (9th October, 2012), it would be impossible for Nigeria to satisfy the requirements of Articles 61(1) -(5) of the ICJ Statute,” Mr. Adoke said in the statement.

THis is what irked me the most. If Nigeria knew it would be impossible to satisfy the requirements of the Articles given that it has just about 2 days left to appeal, why did she not consider this appeal ahead of time. And as for damaging international reputation, did we ever have any reputation? It would have been better to fight till the last than to throw our hands up in despair. For once i regret being a Nigerian.
Bros, You have the freedom to change ur nationality. Go get an American citizenship.
As for reputation, yes we have it, okay tongue

But y did Nigeria agree to go to d world court in d first place knowing its composition wud clearly not favor its cause? D matter to me wud hv bn best settled on d battlefield. What are our Armed Forces doing? Nigeria shud hv simply invaded and overrun Cameroon then d world wud then begin to beg it to withdraw. And dat wud hv put a stop to dia claim of ownership of Bakassi. Y didnt dey try it during Abachas regime? How many Arab lands has Israel seized and annexed? How many UN resolutions asking it to release dem has it obeyed?

taharqa: So Bakassi is finally gone..so so sad. The best scenario 4 Nigeria now is to encourage d ppl of Bakassi to remain in their ancestral land( resettling them wud be a terrible strategic mistake), insist that Cameroon respect their rights and that they retain their Nigerian citizenships( all these i think are containd in d Greentree Agreement). We must keep d ppl of Bakassi on our side and strive to protect dier rights as Nigerians living in Cameroonian territory as this is the main Leverage we wud have over any future Cameroonian shenanigans in dat region- it wud not only help us negotiate our future interests wit them but wud even give future Nigerian govts a leech to get back d territory if d need really arises yrs from now..... God's grace on our citizens in Bakassi

Ur on track on this. losing any review now will close all avenues f future maneuvering. ur position above is d best we can do f now while other negotiation/mediation are ongoing. position f d future.myopic Nigerians r here screaming blue murder..

As much i sympathize with the Bakassi people.....we need to forge ahead as a nation .Let the Fg relocate them and give them all what they deserve to start a new life. Also make an agreement with the Cameroonian govt, as per those who would like to be in Cameroon for their safety.

"GEJ is a coward with those bunch of empty brains claiming to be legal luminaries headed by mohamed adoke, Bakassi belongs to Biafra precipitate nigeria, posterity will never forgive GEJ and adoke with his team, useless reason of 'diplomatically damaging nigeria's image' who even send nigeria before now. COWARDS!!!"

Bakassi does not belong to Biafra. The dreamed Biafran territories of Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi states do not include Bakassi. Biafran nationalists should concentrate their attention on Igbo areas and stop trying to force themselves on people with whom they share no cultural, linguistic, and nationalist ties. Even if Nigeria were to split today and the ICJ hadn't given Bakassi to the Cameroonians, the peninsula would never be Biafran territory. Just because the British lumped the old Calabar province (Akwa Ibom and Cross River)with the Igbos to form the Eastern region doesn't mean that they regard themselves as Biafrans. They are not Igbos, are they?
