Some of our parents married by recommendation &their parents chose wives 4 them,and they are still living happily for decades.Some have even celebrated golden jubilee of married life...Some also married people that were introduced by friends.It works perfectly for some but not all...Nowadays guys choose for themselves;some survive,many crash explosively soon after take off..Is it still fashionable to marry by recommendation-WOULD U ALLOW YOUR PARENTS/FRIENDS to choose a spouse or recommend one for you? whats your take people.?

Our parents do not have any right to choose whom we marry but the truth remains that they have a responsibility to make sure we don't make the wrong choice.

They have a right to advise us on certain qualities to look out for in the choice of a life partner because they've been in that institution before us. They may have made certain mistakes which they wouldn't want their children to make.

And if you're patient enough to listen to them, there's no way you wouldn't find something good in what they'll say.

When you say "choose wives or husband" shebi the two individuals will still meet and date @least for a while? If so Why not, if not? Me I prefer referrals oo..I also feel its easier, knowing that someone already knows his history or family background..

My dad was in the city and was introduced to my mom who was in the village at the time. Pronto! She came to lag, fine woman, dad sent her to school, studied English Unilag and those two people are shinning and inseparable 35 years down the line.

I keep saying it. It takes two consenting, matured individuals to make a relationship(marriage) work. Tolerance, forgiveness, communication amongst other virtues are essential for a great happy marriage..

Recommendation aint bad... As long as u dont force it one me. Infact! u can neva force it on me cuz u aint gonna be the one that will live with her till death, its me. Anywayz, parental advice is necessary as it helps in aiding our final decisions..

As long as its just recommendation, we don't have a problem. I have not seen a parent that has not recommended a spouse to their child before, its natural but its when they make the choice that hell is bound to be let loose
