That depends on the reason why she was fired. In any case, our country is a land of 'possibilities'

It is a wonder that she still collected salary for so many months after the revelations of the senate hearing on the sale of public companies. A real wonder.

Abujafood: Good News or bad News?

Either way, how does it positively affect Nigeria? In the past, have the firings and hirings ever brought positive change?

Just another news to read before I start my day.

What about the DG of NIMASA..He should be the next person to be fired. How can a single FG Agency be spending as much as #80billion annually on salaries for its staff, and he would not account for as directed by Nigerian Fiscal Commission. No stone should be left unturned.

Its long overdue! She was indicted in the senate probe on BPE, grossly incompetent, her major undoing is most likely the Eleme Petrochemical deal or was found wanting in the recently concluded privatisation exercise of the power sector . GEJ needs to get folks like her out of the system, big time saboteur!

Gej is too slow. Most D.Gs and ministers are either incompetent or not totally alligned to the agenda of the president. The top echelon of the civil service is a colosal disaster. Looking at the recent privatisation activities... She should have been told to resign long ago. May God see nigeria through the next 3 yrs. The situation is becoming too drastic in the hands of a very weak president.

Bolanle Onagoruwa, The sacked DG of BPE

FG sacks the Director General, Bureau for Public Enterprises, BPE, Bolanle Onagoruwa

President Goodluck Jonathan has finally sacked the embattled Director General of the Bureau for Public Enterprises, BPE, Bolanle Onagoruwa.

The sack was revealed in a terse statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice President, Umar Sani.

There were no reasons given for the relieving Ms. Onagoruwa of her functions at the BPE.

The statement reads, “The Director General of the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE), Ms. Bolanle Onogoruwa, has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect. She is to hand over to the most Senior Director in the
Bureau, Mr. Benjamin Ezra Dikki, who is to hold the position in an acting capacity.

“Mr. President extends his sincere appreciation to Ms. Bolanle Onogoruwa for her services to the nation and wishes her the best in her future endeavours.”

Ms. Onagoruwa has been in the eye of the storm for a long time over the discharge of her duties as the head of the privatisation agency.

The Senate ad-hoc committee that investigated the privatisation and commercialisation of public companies between 1999 and 2011 had last year recommended her immediate sack from office.

She was accused of “gross incompetence in the management of the BPE” as well as the “illegal and fraudulent sale of the five per cent Federal Government’s shares in the Eleme Petrochemical Company Limited, EPCL
.

Firing without prosecution for fraud just tells the new hire to steal as much as they can before they get 'fired' into a retirement of luxury.
