that's a big word (vacuous).. in answer to your question.. simple.. he is trying to make a point.. the Bible is not so Mysterious that it has to be "Revealed" to you to make sense of it.. (at least some of it not classified under the LSD-induced category) Jesus was simple enough in his words and temperament. If it takes reading the Koran or Bible to enlighten an errant argument.. so be it..
