Is it bad to cross your legs in church?

I'm a catholic,I noticed each time I cross my legs in church which I do unconsciously, the wardens always tell me to drop them... Was in church with my mum today and she told me the same,I asked her why and she said I was in the presence of God, that I know but could it be that bad
I obviously know that but for christsake I'm not sitting in front neither is my dress short

Can u cross your leg in the presence of your boss? I am sure your answer is nil. Same is applicable in the presence of boss of bosses.

If a Christian sister feels or thinks she sit carelessly sometimes and decides to cross her legs in order to prevent "exposure" what is wrong in that for God's sake? If we are going to prove something is wrong, then I think we should establish such truth from the scripture not by sentiments.

Stop deceiving yourself abt using scripture to explain how to sit down. Scripture must not teach you everything. God gave you wisdom also to know what is right and wrong. Why would you sit carelessly in church for God's sake?.

The issue is, Paul said 'to me all things are lawful but not all things are expedient'. Asking you to drop your legs might not be for you but rather for the benefit of those around you. Those that think its culturally out of place or disrespectful for you to cross your legs in front of your superior which of course God is, might see it and either wonder what type of church allows its ladies to sit like that or have their minds drift away while in church. Now, if you're used to crossing your legs in church, one day you might 4get that your skirt/gown is not that long and so you'll cross your legs and unintentionally change the pastor's message. Finally when other ladies see you cross your legs, they forget that your own skirt/ gown is long and since nobody has corrected you they go ahead and cross their own legs even when they are wearing micro minis. So I don't think its basically about you but about others. So just drop your legs and do a whole lot of people so much good.

plappville: The bible did not tell us how to sit, stand, or lie or walk. But It says every wrong doings is a sin, and not all sin leads to condemnation. If you feel its wrong you should stop it. But I think we should try to know if this isa tradition.

Hip stability; The hips have a natural aliment. crosing your legs is not natural. This can cause wear and tear on the joint. Back pain: can cause lower back pain. The spine has three natural curves and when you sit crossed legged some tend to shift their body weight taking the spine out of ailment also.

Crossing of leg is a habit. Some people feel more comfortable doing it. Others no. Some believed it's polite. If we look at the side effect according to Doctors, its best to stop such habit that could damage one's health.

The church is apparently your fathers house so I guess you should be allowed to sit anyway (that doesn't expose ur innards) your comfy with.

Just like what happened to me on 31st. I don't normally do this cross-over service thingy, but the whole house was dry and my sis asked me to escort her to a church nearby and since there is no harm in praying any way, I followed her.

On getting there I sat down cos my thighs were aching (the after effect of exercise), it was few mins to midnight and cross-over prayers have started in earnest. . I sat down, head bowed and eyes closed deep in prayer, I was engrossed in worship, not even listening to the prayer point raised, na so this man came from no where, tapped my shoulders and asked me to stand up, u need to see the look on my face. Actually I had tears in my eyes so there was no doubt I was having a personal time with God, no one told him to leave me be. I sat down all through the 30mins I spent there.

The question is; do I need to stand up for my prayers to get to God?

One actually called me after the service and told me next time I should bring a real Bible, Paper and Pen to church because using my phone in church is wrong.

I said Ah thank you sir but it is not like I don't want to. . . I just can't afford them because I feel in order to stay true to the Christianity, I can't use a Bible made from paper other than the very type used during the time of Christ and in order to write on that kinda paper I need those olden days pen used on olden days scrolls. . .considering all these things are very rare, it is bound to very expensive. I have no choice naa.

At that point, I was expecting a swift kick in the ass but dude actually asked me why I am stressing myself when I can just go to the market or bookshop and get any type. Patapata it will not cost me N500.

Brother, please open your bible to the book of psalm 23.. he obliged and I asked him to read verse 1. He did and I said beautiful. Can you please read it in New King James version.. He said his bible was only KJV. So I proceeded to read that same pasage in 10 different versions, showed him concordance, bible teachings on that passage, bible scholars analysis of that passage and when I was done, I proceeded to sms him that exact passage.. Then I showed him how with my Ipad I have an alert that can send me a scripture every hour, how I have a bible reading plan that can help me read through the entire bible in a year and how if I am too tired I can even play the passages out as an audio... Then I turned to him and asked him if he could do any of these with his paper back..


Since that day, the man stopped talking to me..



All these holier than thou assholes that call themselves christians actually think that they know it all.. My entire family go to church with an Ipad or their phones.. No more paperbacks.... from the youngest to the oldest.. Its not a sin.. And I also cross my legs whenever I am in church.[/b]

if u are an adult, then i think u av a right not to go to the church again since they dont make u confortable. u can read ur bible at home na.... or d church doesnt allow dat too.

I don't think anything is bad about dat. We're in d presence of God, u're suppose to be comfortable, not to be in agony. If it's comfortable for u wen u cross ur leg, den continue. So far u're not sleeping, or disturbing other people.

and you can sell there as well since it is your father's house. you can even start living there or build a kiosk there.

This must be proper Nigeria tradition in the church. Crossing leg is an habit, some people are very comfortable with it, Men, women boys and girls cross leg in church here in the West. They don't do it only when they are in church. At home work etc.. The former president of France Mr Sako during interview do cRossed His legs, even the journalist was crossing hers. Does this mean She disrespected her President No...They both must felt it was polite for them to sit like that in a public interview.(tv). Africans are too superstition, when you put ur two hand on ur head, they tell u don't do that, Becos it signifies someone is dead.
