Nigeria will never become a super power until the people wage a revolution. The greatest and most advanced economies went through tumultous changes that overturned negative environments.

Nigeria came close to this twice in its history but ethnic colorations and agendas stopped us in our tracks.

Until this happens (probably never as long as Nigerians are Nigerians)....we will have corrupt administrators and issues such as epileptic power supply.

Please, not all great economies went through revolutions. Let's not immerse ourselves in the very dangerous notion that Nigeria cannot get better unless there is a revolution.
It can only harm our collective efforts as a people.

Give an example of a truly advanced economy that did not go through a revolution.

tim107: It is clear that without electricity there can be no industrial development and all those grand visions of becoming one of the world's leading economies by 2020 cannot be relaised.

But there's electricity in Nigeria,

If Nigerians think that things will substantively change without an upheaval of sorts then they are truly crazier than I thought. Do we really think that we will become like Japan, Sweden or any of the sorts soon with the crop of leaders we have The corrupt political elite has been ruling us for decades, reinventing themselves in new guises...

Wait...we REALLY think that these people will change from their ways just like that

cheesy

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!! Delusions

Electricity is NOT Nigeria's problem to becoming a super power, Its shallow and backward thinking Citizens are. I believe Infrastructure for 24/7 Electricity can actually be built within 3 yrs in the country. I mean over a decade ago, I remember when cellphones was just the wealthy thing, now just about everybody has one, and @ an affordable price.

For where? That is why we must begin to look for alternative means of power generation, especially for small scale industries, the engine room of development. Reliance on govt has to be very minimal in this sector. In the north, air turbines wud work well while in the south biomass can serve. Solar can work on either side of the divide. However besides all these, I am certain that there are other undiscovered cheaper and sustainable sources of power generation (even @ large scale) that God in His mercies will soon reveal to us.

Thanks

We've used the sun for drying chothes for thousands of years, but only recently we are able to use it for generating power. In fact every minute, enough energy arrives at the earth to meet our demands for the whole year -if only we could harness it properly.

Solar energy is the best solution for africa, one house, one solar panel by year 2020 every house will have electricity.
