Yet, Buhari and some many northern elites will say Abacha never looted. Shame on them all.

Abacha never looted.

Buhari is a honest man.

If a Buhari tells you Abacha never looted it would be wise to believe him.

Abacha's story entails three things: (1) He was a thousand light years ahead of those he was ruling then in terms of sophistication and criminal advancement. (2) Nigerian looted money provided the foreign countries were it was deposited, enough funds to develop their places while Nigeria is rated a third world country. (3) Mrs Abacha and family must have known that the money looted was too much that she said no matter what actions taken by the FG,nothing will align them with poor Dangote who is one among the African richest men. Though i don't really know how authentic this is if it really was pronounced by Mrs Abacha but their must be an atom of truth in it. Naija which way i beg ?

The key witness that Obasanjo and Babangida used to discredit Abacha in foreign courts, was a PDP stooge who was rewarded with chairmanship of a firm that was later awarded $1bn govt contract, is today the PDP senator for Kebbi State

The problem with Nigerians is that they most times buy into propaganda without applying common sense.

The average price of brent crude oil throughout Abacha era was $16 per barrel with production of roughly 1.8million barrels per day. Assuming we produced nonstop for 365 days and consistently for 2.5years, our gross earnings would be 3.2trillion between 1994 and 1997 which is about 20billion dollars.

People are considered innocent until proven guilty, not other way around
You should be asking for proof that Abacha looted instead of proof that Abacha is innocent

Can you prove that you yourself did not loot the billions in Swiss banks, if you where maliciously accused?

GenBuhari: Abacha never stole, how could he with oil selling at $9 per barrel?

How could he steal when he put approx $9bn into our foreign reserves?

How could he steal when he rejected IMF loans?

How could he steal when he built the national hospital in Abuja?

How could he steal when he was coping with sanctions against Nigeria?

How could steal when he never devalued the Naira by 1 Kobo?

How can he steal when he built the largest public housing estate in Africa?

How can he steal when he only increased fuel price by only N7 to N18 per litre and then used the revenue generated to fund the Petroleum Trust Fund, which was tasked with improving our infrastructure?

When you have sound knowledge of history, it would be virtually impossible for one to deceive you. Continue to spread this brother as some Nigerians are very nescient, most, smugly nescient, even when truth are presented they still clinge to the old tales told to us about him(Abacha). @Abagworo
Good work my friend!

It impossible that there was money to loot

He never sold off the nation's assets

He never took loans

He added to foreign reserves

He reduced our debts

He fulfilled our role as regional superpower by prosecuting 2 wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

He never devalued the Naira by a single Kobo maintaining exchange rate of $1=N22

He added infrastructure - e.g.National Hospital, public housing, PTF etc.

Quite frankly he would have to be a magician to have looted as well

Most NL'ers are under age 30 and do not really know about Abacha's govt, so are susceptible to misinformation and sustained campaign to maliciously scapegoat Abacha.

Screwface: "No matter how poor we are, we can never be as poor as Dangote..."
Now i understand fully what Mariam was on about.

God has a way of humbling men. I remember the then Intercontinental Group Boss saying he could create any office for you if you performed well EXCEPT that of his. Today neither his office nor the bank exists.

Dangote according to Forbes is Africa's richest. Mariam will soon wish she never made such a statement when reality dawns on her. God can never be mocked.
Re: FG Discovers Another N3.2tr Abacha Loot by Nobody: 6:46am On Apr 07, 2013
Many people do not seem to understand what Maryam Abacha made that statement.

It seems to me that when she referred to never being as poor as Dangote, although I never witnessed what she said or know for sure that actually said that, it she clearly was not comparing monetary wealth with Dangote, she probably meant moral or spiritual wealth.

My friend can you honestly say exactly how much oil leaves the ground and is sold on a daily basis because those figures you peddle are from sources in whose interest these huge slush funds are constructed.

I can categorically tell you they are false. Events in NNPC and lately in the creeks with oil theft and by other incidents I won't mention here paints a different picture. Nigeria unofficially produces a lot more oil than that.

Meanwhile, how much was Ϯh℮ price of oil during Abacha's Regime?

It is possible! Every thing Nigeria had he was controlling . You will really not understand the meaning of OIL n GAS until u v visited countries that has the evidence... DUBAI, SAUDI, IRAN,QATAR , VENESULA, TEXAS etc
I still maintain my STAND!! ABACHA is better than IBB. IBB has about $1trillion Stolen n stashed in offshore accounts.

uncle pls remove iran from this list because i v been there. nigeria and nigerians are better off. they are dying.
if it is possible for abacha to steal all that money in five years, how much is possible for obasanjo to steal in 8 years as a president/petrolium minister? what about IBB and abdulsalam? this story of stealing and looting is one sided and is becoming boring by the day.
we will it to be a little bit to the left and a little bit to the right.
if i must remind u or inform u, selective justice is the worst thing that can happen to any ppl in this world.
from our councellors to my oga at the top, they are all members of the abachas stealing family.none of is different from abacha.
if i may ask, from 1999 when we began to hear stories of recovered loots from the abachas, how has it changed anything in this jungle we call nigeria? what is the need for recovering when another idiots take them home immediately?
help me tell those idiots to leave that family to enjoy their loots as others are doing.
Re: FG Discovers Another N3.2tr Abacha Loot by Nobody: 1:07pm On Apr 07, 2013
Nigerians a being taken for idiots by all govts since Abacha, every so often they claim to have uncovered his loot, just to distract our attention from the mind-blowing looting going on.

For 15 yrs they have been recovering loot and out of $6bn Obj claimed was looted by Abacha, only 5% of that figure was ever returned, in a scam to deceive us and even that "returned" money isn't traceable in treasury coffers as it is probably promptly returned to the Swiss account of the real looters (Obj, IBB or their friends)

How much did Abacha earn from oil throughout his tenure

How much did subsequent governments earn?

Who managed the country better?
Re: FG Discovers Another N3.2tr Abacha Loot by Nobody: 1:42pm On Apr 07, 2013
With oil price selling as low as $13 per barrel in Dec 93 and with almost half the production of current govt, Abacha only raised fuel prices by N6 per litre throughout his rule and even used the proceeds to finance the PTF which improved our infrastructure.

Subsequent govts that are earning up to $110 per barrel have hiked fuel prices N18 per litre to N100 per litre, taken billions in IMF loans, sold all our assets, yet there is no infrastructural development to show for all the cash that had been realised.
