Presidency Angry With Akpabio, Others by Nobody: 1:32am On May 26, 2013
There were indications on Saturday that the Presidency was not happy with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, because of the outcome of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum election, which returned the incumbent, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, to office for the next two years.

A presidential source, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the Presidency felt betrayed that the election was allowed to hold in the first place.

The source said Akpabio had informed the Presidency that he had the majority of the governors with him.

According to the source, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, the plan was to go the venue of the election with the endorsements by the northern governors and the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, that Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, was their candidate.

In the endorsements, the two bodies had said they were supporting Jang, which made the duo of Ibrahim Shema and Isa Yuguda step down.

But unknown to the Akpabio group, the dummy to put Jang’s candidacy forward was meant to weaken the group.

“What we said was that they should not allow election to hold. We asked them to go with the resolutions of the governors of the PDP and that of the northern states.

“We knew that some of the governors could not be trusted if they are allowed to vote. They have grudges against the party and the Presidency.

“That was why we wanted them to stick by the earlier endorsements. But they allowed the opposition to overwhelm them with their arguments and see the mess we found ourselves.”

At the end of the election, Jang was defeated by the Governor of Rivers State, who is also the incumbent chairman of the Forum.

Members of the Akpabio group later met in Abuja on Saturday at the Benue State Governors’s Lodge in Abuja, where they held their maiden meeting.

At the end of the meeting, the group decided to visit the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party, Chief Tony Anenih and Vice-President Namadi Sambo to explain their side of the story.

The meeting with Anenih was held behind closed doors at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja.

Among those who were at the meeting included Jang, Akpabio and the acting Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar.

As soon as the meeting ended, the team moved to the Presidential Villa to brief the vice-president.

Those whose names were on the list of the governors at the meeting were Jang, Idris Wada(Kogi), Suswam, Sullivian Chime(Enugu), Martin Elechi(Ebonyi), Yuguda, Theodore Orji(Abia), Mimiko, Shema, Ralman Yero(Kaduna) and Emmanuel Uduaghan(Delta).

Others were Obi, Garba Umar(Taraba), Imoke, Akpabio, Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara) and the deputy governor of Gombe State, Thannod Rubainu.

However, both Chime and Elechi were not seen at the meeting even though their signatures appeared on the list.

Northern Governors Forum, SS Governors Forum, PDP Governors Forum, ACN Governors Forum very soon we will have Christian Governors Forum and Muslim Governors Forum. Is there something psychotically wrong with the black man that he is constantly in conflict with itself ? The Governors have deviated from the core assignments they were voted for, and formed a mafioso of some sort to advance their egoistic mandates which are in tandem with the provision of good governance for the masses. The Senate needs to ban this inglorious politico proliferations and have the Governors put their ass down on the art of governance and the science of resource management and control.

Just look at these bunch of irresponsible leaders, running from pillar to post in Abuja for a cause that adds no value whatsoever to Nigeria and Nigerians.
Are there no pressing issues in their respective states?
How has the Nigerian governors forum added value to Nigeria since its inception? Can someone tell me..
How do Nigerians care who leads this empty group?

You can imagine almost 10 governors including Mimiko roaming about Abuja chasing a useless cause, trying to manouvre the results of an election that was clear and fair. What kind of leaders are these?

It is even more amazing that these bunch have the full support of Jonathan. What does these say about the president. Then I still see some people on this forum praising this terrible character called Jonathan.

Have we lost our dignity so much that we can't see that this is not the kind of leader that would take us to the promised land. His administration is marred with violence, high corruption, maladministration, inconsistencies, disrespect for the rule of law etc

Plese let's come back to our senses!!
SOLUTION: No to PDP, No to GEJ, No to Cluelessness in 2015. Let's give another party a chance

Punch in the last two years is indulging in reporting trash. Nobody is angry with anybody anywhere. This is mere gutter journalism that the likes of Punch and Sahara Reporters have reduced the profession to.

The Jang group held their first meeting yesterday and passed a number of resolutions. Let Amechi call for a meeting too and let us see.

The presidency has finally been reduced to trash can, shamelessly exposing how low Jonathan is. No thanks to the foooools asking him to pick the wrong fight. The master strategist has shown them how things works.

At a point, the Governor of Niger State and Chairman, Northern
Governors’ Forum, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu reportedly told his
anti-Amaechi collesgues that the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi
would be returned as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors’
Forum.

According to him, not even the presidential influence could sway the
position of the majority of the governors. “Let me tell you, 10 of
you, even 20 of you and Jonathan cannot remove Amaechi.

Go and tell him,” Aliyu was reported to have said. Peace, however,
prevailed when the elderly among the governors intervened. Back
home, Aliyu clarified that the Nigeria Governors Forum was not a
labour union formed to agitate for issues with the Federal
Government or any other body.

And I ask, what does it take for the president to seek forgiveness from Lord Amaechi?

when news no longer favour one's side, that is when one considers it a trash!

Would you have said after the election that Goodluck Jonathan should preside over the nigerian part that voted for him while Buhari also should preside over those that voted for him?

Re: Presidency Angry With Akpabio, Others by Symphony007: 9:42am On May 26, 2013
Exactly! This is day light corruption! Trying to overwrite an "ELECTION" with a "RESOLUTION" which a corrupt president forced some governours to sign. If akpabio really belives his signatures, another secret ballot election should be held and ameachi's victory will repeat itself to their utmost disgrace.

While akpabio and his fool hang around abuja briefing and scheming, responsible governours like ameachi, fashola and their group have return to their states to carry out their primary duties as chief executives for their people!!
Re: Presidency Angry With Akpabio, Others by ITbomb(m): 9:56am On May 26, 2013
Governors were suppose to be domiciled in their states and focus on bringing the dividends of democracy to the people not roaming about Abuja seeking for titles.
After they will hypocritically ask the LG chairmen to be permanently in the LG areas

The Northern Governors would never have supported Jang given the backdrop of the Jos Crisis and Jang's open declaration of war on the Jihadist elements.

GEJ should have known this.

I am really dissapointed.
Re: Presidency Angry With Akpabio, Others by PointB: 7:40pm On May 26, 2013
@Topic,
what were the exact 'angry' words spoken by the president? And who exactly was it directed at?

Or is the 'anger' the usual bullcrap journalism that were are often subjected to by the likes of Punch and Sa-Liar Reporters?
Re: Presidency Angry With Akpabio, Others by fkaz(m): 7:45pm On May 26, 2013
Akpabio, ibrahim shema and isa yuguda are more interested in the post of presidency more than Gej.
