INSECURITY: Police probe Senator over Ombatse killings, as lawmaker condemns attempts to link him

LEGISREPORTS NG – There are indications that a member of the national assembly, Senator Solomon Ewuga from Nassarawa state may have been linked to the recent massacre of police and state security operatives in the state, LEGISREPORTS has exclusively scooped.

It was gathered that ongoing police investigation in the killing has started yielding some results as arrested members of the Ombatse, the deadly cult group that is believed to be responsible for the murder of over 100 security operatives, have since spilled the beans on who their sponsors are.

A police source at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, told LEGISREPORTS that the senator who recently fell out with Governor Tanko Al Makura has been mentioned by the suspects who were questioned independently.

“I can tell you that we are already closing in on the sponsors of the killings in Nasarawa, that is why you see that the tension has since gone down,” said our police source.

According to the informer, it was gathered that the cult group were used to intimidate political opponents in the state.

“It was deployed during Al-Makura’s stand-off with the state house of assembly when the group was used to intimidate lawmakers who were perceived as enemies of the governor.

“This was why the governor delayed in banning Ombatse last year when it started a crisis in which it got into a fight with police and military personnel in the state,” said the informer.

The source also added that the lawmaker fell out with the governor and afraid that the group may be used against him, Al Makura had rushed to Abuja to brief the federal government on the security situation in his state.

After the meeting, it was agreed that there was a need to quickly rein in the group. But the Ombatse may have gotten wind of the coming detachment of operatives and laid ambush for them.

But Senator Ewuga has condemned in strong terms any attempt to link him with the gruesome killings. In a telephone conversation with LEGISREPORTS, the senator debunked his alleged links with the murder saying he would seek all legal means to clear his name if investigations rope his name into the affair.

He said he was still pained at the carnage caused by the cult and could not have contemplated using the group to settle political scores.

From the above, one can deduce that, the governor who is power drunken, sent the dead officers to infringe on the ombatse's rights, which in turn back fired.

Obviously, Nigeria isn't ready and able to use state police yet.

And wonder why the governor is yet to tell the public what the ombatse cult . prayer group did to warrant declaring war on them in the 1st place.

The fugly governor let them be abeg.
