utumunta: As long as these 36 emperors congregate to clink glasses of cognac, at the expense of the masses, under whatever guise, be it NGF or NCS, Nigeria will never know development.
This a trade union for the advancement of their interests and it is a shame that Nigerians who have been bearing the brunt of their mafia-vice grip on the polity, will join in this macabre dance of who won the election or not.
These men, through this union, dictate who becomes a councillor, Local govt chairman, state and federal legislators and (since 2007) President!
The effect of this ,is that being a governor automatically qualifies one for the office of President. They did it in 2007, when two of their members became President and vice. When Yar'adua died, they nominated one of their own as vice to the present president. Now our choice of President has been reduced to these 36 governors, who are anti-democrats and development(check how they run their states).
People like Prof Pat utomi, oby Ezekwesili, Dora Akunyili et al, who are qualified for the office of President will never get there ,since they won't have the support of the NGF.
NB: Anyone that wanted to mention Fashola or Akpabio as doing well, should stop and marry the level of development in those states with what accrues to the state from the FG and revenue.
There is really nothng wrong with govs comming together to form an association or as the cas may be with the NGF,a uninon. This are the most powerful assoiation in the country and thy can single handedly determine who bcoms prez and who doesn't. You also have the electoral college in the US and other powerful groups like tht who by extension have influence even outside the US.

You really cannot quarrel with its existence. However wht we lack are strong institutions tht can check the excesses of these men.

Judging by settings in these pics, one can probably conclude that the room in which they had the meeting is not bigger than the size of a classroom or a small office suite in a shopping mall.

If perchance Mr Peter Obi wants to visit the gents, at least 6 other seats must be vacated before he has an unhindered passage.

Coming back to his seat ,they must file out again for him to gain access.

Except unless they will just hang their for him to visit the gents and quickly come back before they assume their seats back.

But wait a minute!, what if he spent as long as President Jonathan spent to pee at the AU summit? That would be bad cos Gov. Jang will fear another gov has defected.

Why are they having the meeting in a hole?

This NGF thing is just another cabal in this nation that will cause us serious retrogression tomorrow. What are they meeting for,if not to conspire against one person or the other or one policy or the other. And ofcourse device means among themselves on how to lot.

What has the nation benefited from NGF. If not one crisis after the other.

Funny Jang, he just said on Channels TV that the reason why some of the governors didn't show up could be that they have traveled or are busy with some other projects when he actually knows that they don't recognise his faction.

Jang had 16votes. Only gombe gov was absent. If he is also a loyalist, that will make Jang with have 16govs + himself, 17 in total. So 18 govs are only possible if a gov is a coward.

Within the last one month, Jang has called three HGF meetings. Is this really a despiration to show he is the chairman or those who attend just have nothing important doing in their states. All those that attended these Jang meetings are a disgrace to Nigeria. Three NGF meetings in one month, shows they dont have anything more important to do than to play politics.

Spots on. Those asking Amaechi to call a meeting are talking rubbish. he will call it as at when due. GF meeting isnt their primary responsibilities and shouldnt be an everyday thing.

Re: PDP Governors, Opposition Shun Jang’s NGF Meeting by Nobody: 8:12am On Jun 18, 2013
Very misleading report, reeking of 'oppositionness' as usual from the jaundiced Lagos/Ibadan press. The headline screams 'PDP governors shun Jang's NGF meeting', yet it proceeds to only list OPPOSITION governors (yes, the APC hoodlums are the same as the four northern governors listed - Lamido, Aliyu Babangida, Wamakko, and Dakingari). I was expecting to see names of South South governors (except Amaechi of course), South East governors, North Central governors, and sensible core.northern governors like Shema, Yuguda, and Yero that "shunned" the meeting completely by either not attending or not sending their.deputies to represent them.

The foolish Amaechii should summon a meeting of his own illegal NGF faction let us see how many PDP governors would attend. Utter rubbish.

For posterity, here is a report from a pro-opposition paper...

Only 16 governors attended yesterday’s meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) called by the Jonah Jang faction.

Besides Jang, other governors at the meeting were: Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo); Theodore Orji (Abia); Martin Elechi (Ebonyi); Idris Wada (Kogi); Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta); Ibrahim Shema (Katsina); and Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom).

Others were: Isa Yuguda (Bauchi); Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa); Sullivan Chime (Enugu); Peter Obi (Anambra); Ibrahim Dankwabo (Gombe); Umar Garba (Taraba); Liyel Imoke (Cross River) and Steve Lawani (Benue Dep. Governor).

Source

And this is a different account from a pro-PDP media outfit.

At the end of the meeting, Jang told reporters that they only needed 12 governors in attendance to form a quorum, adding that many of those who were absent at the meeting sent their apologies.

He declined to give the outcome of the meeting, as he noted that they would discuss it with President Goodluck Jonathan.
Reacting to a question, Jang said he was not an impersonator as had been alleged by Governor Amaechi.

Present at the inaugural meeting were Jang (Plateau), Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Garaba Umar (Taraba), Theodore Orji (Abia), Martins Elechi (Ebonyi), Idris Wada (Kogi), Steve Lawani (deputy governor, Benue), Godwsill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Shehu Shema (Katsina), Isa Yuguda (Bauchi), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Peter Obi (Anambra), Ibrahim Dankwabo (Gombe) and Liyel Imoke (Cross River).
