KANO – The Federal Government has announced signing of ceasefire
deal with Jama’atu Ahlul Sunnah Lidda’awati wal Jihad, popularly known
as Boko Haram.
The major breakthroyugh is coming on the eve of the Muslim Holy
month due to commence Tuesday through the country.
The minister of Special duties Alhaji Tanimu Turaki announced the
ceasefire agreement on Radio France International Hausa services
monitored in Kano Monday afternoon.

My annoyance is on why the FG waited for so much lives to be lost before taking the bull by the horn. However a success is a success. Kudos to Jonathan for finally growing the balls to tackle the menace and congratulations to all Nigerians. Can't leave out the "civilian JTF" who finally played a key role that they failed to do from the beginning.

Hope this cease fire is not in anyway related to the Ramadan fast coming up . ..

Medicine after death.

Every sane/knowledgeable person who knows about counter-terrorism and military warfare knew what the endgame would be. You can never win militarily against guerrilla fighters, especially if it has ideological leanings. Heck, even the almighty USA is now negotiating with Taliban and Taliban is also negotiating power-sharing with the Afghan government. Algeria also had to negotiate with Al qaeda in Maghreb.

I just hope the ceasefire is obeyed and these guys can be rehabilitated and re-integrated back into the system.

You guys have been advocating for a carrot and stick approach.
My personal opinion is that military might alone cannot successfully crush this aggression.
A vital and pertinent case study is the taliban movement.
After about 14 years occupation,
The united states are pulling out and yet we still have pockets of attacks and aggression here and there.
At some point in time,
A discussion and dialogue will take place aimed at resolving the conflict.
I hope the FG builds on this ceasefire.
And not let the Armageddon return after the ramadan.
