Tolexander: Thank God there are pictures as evidence.

I hope the same set of people hailing the touts and paid youths to do this won't have any cause to condemn anything done to GEJ and the ProGEJs if anything like this is done to them later.

This is going to happen in the North come 2015. Expect a bloody electioneering campaign. Northerners don't condone disrespect on their leaders.

THEN IT MEANS THERE ARE SO MUCH JOBLESSNESS IN THE LAND.

HOWEVER, THE JOBLESS FOOLS ARE ONLY BEING USED BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO MADE THEM JOBLESS.

Sincere 9gerian:
What was the police supposed to do? Kill all the protesters? Didn't people protest against removal of fuel subsidy for several days? This is democracy. Both the pro- and anti-Amaechi groups have the right to protest and even throw stones. The much the police can do is restrain the protesters to certain areas, which they did in this instance because the four governors and Amaechi moved to and fro the govt house. The police cannot stop people from throwing stones.

Moreover, governors are not the president that needs maximum security. Even the president with his maximum security was once a victim of stone throwing protesters.

THE MOST INSINCERE 9GERIAN EVER TO LIVE.

THIS SAME WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR god-FATHER IN SOME MONTHS TIME.

I KNOW YOU WOULD HAVE CHANGED NAME BY THEN.

BUT TRULY, THE RIVERS FOOLS ARE THE LOOSER.

THEIR MONEY WILL BUY BACK MORE SOPHISTICATED SUVS. AMAECHI WILL ONLY ENJOY THE NEW IMPORTS.

You can write whatever you like in the law books but is the law implementable?

There's also a law which state that you must get police permission before embarking on street protests. But did the fuel subsidy protesters obtain police permit before embarking on protests? No, they didnt.

"JOIN YOUR APC. LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE."

This is the most interesting message I read in the placards. This would solve the crisis permanently, and put everyone at ease. Why is the stubborn goat reluctant to take this advice? Why does he want to die fighting in the PDP whose leadership he is not ready to respect, even if the state burns as a result? Why not join any of the opposition parties, so that he would test his popularity and followership in the next general elections?

Besides, the protesters are justified in their anger, since they know that the visiting nothern Jihadist governors do NOT have their interest at heart. They came to show solidarity with a mole that is trying to help return power to the North in 2015, at the expense of the Niger Delta's own incumbent president. Did the Jihadist governors honestly expect to be cheered on arrival?

Where was this argument when Nassarawa people pelted GEJ with stones? Guys, you lots should pipe down with this Jan 15, and July 29 inanities, it's actually very boring and illogical. There is no parallel with this simple PH protest.

You guys should go back and study this Amaechi's poilitical history. A guy who took over the mantle of leadership without really standing in for an election (because Godfather Odili wanted to deny him his dues).
A guy who has whethered so many crisis in his short political life, without having his feathers ruffled.
A guy who reminds me of Senator Ken Nnamani and how he quashed OBJ's third term bid.
Bros, GEJ should thread carefully. It is an advice.

Oh! I've only just seen your amendment. The supreme court has ruled that police permits are unconstitutional and void. They are against citizens rights as enshrined in the constitution.

See

All Nigeria Peoples Party v Inspector-General of Police (2008) 12 WRN 65

Now, to your original comment. If we gleefully say "some laws are not enforceable" then we permit anarchy because nobody will enforce any law (there's always the ready excuse "it's not enforceable". Who determines what is enforceable or not?).

My stand is the same for everybody. Anybody who hurls stones during a demonstration should be arrested and charged. I know of 4 Nigerian presidents that have been stoned.

I don't remember if anybody was arrested when President Shagari was stoned at NET Building in 1983.

When General Babangida visited Ogoniland the soldiers were prepared to shoot at and arrest youths that threw stones at the motorcade, but the president ordered them not to. However, some youths were arrested anyway.

Soldiers arrested youths who stoned President Obasanjo's motorcade in Kano.

Youths were arrested when President Jonathan's motorcade was stoned in Nassarawa. In fact, Al-Makura was also picked up.

The police exist to prevent such anarchy. How many people have they arrested? How can they allow this to continue?

The Rivers state police command have been doing a marvellous job in curtailing violence in the state considering the calibre of people involved in this battle for supremacy.

Politicians are overheating the polity by their incessant solidarity visits and are making the job difficult for the Police..

Governor Amaechi and Barr. Wike should settle their bedroom quarrel and stop deceiving the world that they are fighting for the masses thereby causing unnecessary tension.

Ok then, many people were injured at the house of assembly, what has the police done about that? Is it one law for some and another law for others? These people were caught on video committing crimes! Has anybody been arrested? What is the job of the police?

People damaged public property and hurled stones at the airport. What has the police done about this? What is their job?

Amaechi is losing it in River State....no matter how your ambition is, you don't have to betray your people and is like Amaechi is not thinking straight because i can't see any future for him with those stupid northern governors, they only want to use him for there own ambition. my advice for Amaechi for the peoples of that state, he should either decamp to APC or settle matter with PDP and stop causing problem in the state because he is the cause of all the problem in that state and not GEJ/PEG because he is the governor of that state.

@Naptu,

Chidi Llyod cannot be arrested without Gov. Amaechi accusing CP Mbu of partisanship. If Evans Bipi is arrested, the other group would do the same. The situation in Rivers state is so delicate that any major arrest as this time would lead to a complete breakdown of law and order.

The best the police can do at the moment is to reduce the level of exposure of the citizens.... The reason I said politicians should stop giving these street boys reasons to protest.

The protesters were said to have been at the airport since 7am. Wasn't there enough time for the Governor to advice his visitors to abort the trip rather than allow them walk into a trap and further heat up the polity? The governor could have hosted the visitors in Abuja since he also flew in from Abuja that day.

How did the protesters know of the solidarity visit to the extent that they were able to mobilise that early?

Gov. Amaechi and Barr. Wike should stop this deceit. They should stop making the police look worse than they already are.

Allowing the protest to be stage shows that the commissioner in Rivers State is partisan. He told the world that protest would not be allowed in the state, yet anti-Amaechi protest was allowed even with police protection.

The CP is definitely dancing to the tune of some powerful individual in the state. What a shame!!!!!!

Not that I espouse violence in any form, but am happy WS and the four Northern governors were stoned.
They went to pay 'solidarity' visit to Amaechi out of their selfish interests. How many of these governors paid visits to the families of those school kids whose lives where brutally cut short in Yobe. Wole being a writer, scholar cum teacher, did he bother to pay visits to the families of the slain kids. But he is ever so quick to go to visit Amaechi....why wouldn't he be denigrated and stoned. People will naturally think he has a selfish agenda or seeking some sort of largesse.
