Before you guys start shouting out your lungs, screaming murder, look at it this way. Will you allow your close relative (maybe wife) to keep a pregnancy resulting from rape? Be realistic pals; that's what the governor signed, 'not abortion is legal bill'!

Okorocha's end could be at sight if he finds himself rubbing shoulders with Catholic priests, doctors or institutions. He should learn from what happened to Ohakim. Pride goes before a fall. Sudden storms are short but little drizzles last long. Violent fires soon burn out themselves. A word is enough for the wise.

If some of you are so much against the abortion then create a charity that takes the kids in...... When she later gives birth to a child via molestation and calls the child useless, it is you people that will still come out to say if she didn't want the child why did she give birth..... Hypocrisy at the highest...... Do you even know what some of these molested girls go through everyday? Then to be reminded of their stigma with a child that's just cruel

By 2015 elections we will surely know who owns the state.Okorocha do not legalise the killing of innocent igbo babies. That was why we were averse to your joining a boko haram party in the first place.

Comply with what majority of your citizens want or get thrown out during the next elections.

You must have had reasons for doing it. And the father of the child? He must have denied the pregnancy. It is well......

You know this is a very stupid comment. Imo State may not be owned by Catholics but still Catholics have they right to fight against what goes against their belief. Catholics have been fighting against abortion and anti pro life policies in the USA a country more religiously diverse than Imo State and nobody has told them America doesn‘t belong to them alone. The Catholic doctors have given their reasons why not give your own in support and move on.
Btw do you know that if voting were to be done on religious line strictly, Catholics will always carry the day in Imo State?

Well there are more pros in legalizing abortion than cons. Abortion has been illegal all this while but do you how many girls have had this procedure done on them before? My point is making it illegal does not reduce the rate, what it does is to increase quackery and abortion complicated by death and other serious health issues. The truth the catholic church has refused to be in touch with reality, they are against s.ex, against contraceptives , against everything. The truth is people will always have pre marital s.ex and get pregnant, and because abortion is illegal they end up on a butchers slab, at the end both baby and mother are lost. I rather have one lost than both. So legalizing abortion is a lesser evil.

so if ur pregnancy was threatening ur life u'd still go on with it, risking your life and d baby's? U call dat a flimsy excuse?
if u lose ur life in d birthing process, ur husband will sharply marry another wife who'll takia of ur child dat u died for.

they are not totally legalizing abortion here, just giving an option in delicate circumstances.
Re: Okorocha, Catholic Doctors At War Over Abortion Law by Nobody: 10:13am On Aug 28, 2013
Garri the 1st: These Catholic doctors should go and sleep joor.

The Law specifically mentions situations in which a woman can legitimately seek abortion. Women must of course have necessary rights to determine what happens to their body.

If a lady is RAP£D and becomes pregnant she has a right to abort the pregnancy if she so desires.

Nigeria isn't a Christian state, hence Christians should know that even the bible's stance on abortion is binding only on conscientious christians and shouldn't form the law of a state.

cool cool
: thanks for your reasoning and understanding, what some people don't understand about abortion is a right of choice for women!!

Hypocrites and bloody hypocrites that's what these doctors are, Go to their families, if their daughters or relatives have a bastard baby, they will disown and stigmatise against her and tell her that the baby can't bear their family name yet they are against safe abortions.
Please you guys should say something else and leave heating up the polity unnecessarily. Abortion has being illegally legal over time as it is a very common practice almost everywhere around our country or the only evil of this bill is that it has the courage to pen it down as a law and female right in Imo state? As a Dr and a catholic I dsiagree with d position of d catholic Drs on this matter.some specific situations were espoused to justify d termination of pregnancy and it makes absolute sense!would any one allow a sibling, spouse, child or parent keep a pregnancy resulting from Rape or incest for example?nobody is promoting voluntary termination of unwanted pregnancies following wanton sexual escapades.we have to seperate d church from d state. D psycological burden of some pregnancy states are beyond d capacity of some individuals to handle.I have had a patient commit suicide cos she was made to keep a pregnancy that was as a result of rape

Reptyle:

Seems to me like the law is specific about instances where abortion can be procured. What's the fuss?

The law made a list of the conditions that have to be met before a new life form (a human being) will be terminated. Who told you that you have the right to do that? Can you be able to manufacture a single strand of DNA in a foetus. If you can no problem go ahead and abort as many as you like, but if you can't why terminate a life formed by God, of which we have no idea as to how or why He did. Abortion is Evil and a crime against infancy.
I'm disappointed in Rochas for this, but what can I say... Ukwa ruo oge ya odaa.
We humans are just too selfish, that's why most of us will lose this war against evil.
