Like so many others have pointed out, maybe you were the one seeing things differently.  I honestly don't think it had anything to do with your skin colour.  I went to a Nigerian party with a some friends of mine once, and the ladies were very nice to me, the men even nicer . I went to the party to PARTY, and party I did. Honestly, if anyone showed me a bad face, I was too busy having fun to have noticed.  


From experience I can truly say that many times the problem lies with us, the individual, and not so much the other person. Try not to make yourself look as if you don't belong.  Probably next time try mingling more, Best of Luck,
