I no too gbadun Naija setting. Anytime, I hear Naija bands play, it always feel like something is missing in the musical arrangement. I had the opportunity to play with my church band some weeks ago (not in Nigeria) and I could feel the difference. Our arrangement had only four guitars: two semi - acoustic guitars (I played one as a back-up), one electric guitar and lastly one bass guitar (played by a female). We had a drum set but no piano/keyboard and the experience was totally different. That day, I found out that many Nigerian bands lacked the strumming sounds of acoustic guitars. My observation though... Nice contributions up there too... 4 Likes |

We too like tungba for this country.I'm yet to find that church that would conduct praise and worship solely dependent on rhythm provided by guitar in Nigeria.Itz very "unnigerian".I tried playing in church last year's new year eve(cross over night) and the keyboardist simply didn't care if I heard myself-made it look like twaz a competition...smh.I stopped playing after some minutes TonySpike: I no too gbadun Naija setting. Re: A thread for acoustic guitarist: beginners, amateurs and professionals by TonySpike: 9:08pm On Sep 13, 2014 |
Suresh08: any band without a keyboardist is incomplete.. Every musical instrument has its role in a musical piece. Depending on how you see it, keyboards are optional just like guitars. A combination of string instruments can easily take the role of keyboard ing any band. My point is this, many Nigerian keyboardist that play in churches tend to want to greedily 'usurp' the role of other instruments. This is the basis of the competition we are referring to... |

Nastydroid: The guitar brand is genesis(classical)my bro changed the string,am getting an electro-acoustic soon Haven't heard of that brand before. What is your string gauge number? If you're going to buy a semi-acoustic model, make sure it's either Cort, Fender, Yamaha, Shure, Gibson or Martin. Cheers. Any comment on my recording though? |
