I was almost gifted for a super charged 2009 for 3m by my friend cause of the silly problems it was giving him. I had the cash and I loved it but I was been careful. How I wished I have known about this thrend before then. I opted for just a 2m Camry muscle and used my 1m for other things. But from everything I have seen sso far! 2016 1st or 2nd month I will try get a 2009 super charged. Can't wait!! Can't wait!!! I love range mhen

Tough choice. Your friend gave out his supercharged cos he was not paying attention to details. Owning a range requires that you pay enough attention to its well-being. This is the only thing madam can tolerate that her husband can do. Should I say, welcome to the club in advance? Happy New year

This year, a common issue is being overlooked, the axle oil. Have it checked as soon as possible. Front and rear and the auxiliary oil too. Dont let it ruin your Range Rover. Lagos and Abuja, we are performing Auxiliary and Axle oil change for your Range Rovers and it is advisable it is done before the rains start yelling....Happy New year

would u advise someone to purchase a clean naija used RR Sport 05/06 as long as the engine; gearbox and balloon still intact ?
i haven't driven a V8 before; what is the fuel consumption like for a regular day to day movement to and fro work?
i am also learning towards the V6 4.0L version of the LR3 . . . don't know which one will make a better choice
thank you sir.

Chief, in buying a Range Rover or LR3, Fuel consumption should be the last thing on your mind. Gasoline is actually the cheapest part of driving a Range Rover if you understand what I mean! If fuel is your concern, what happens when a N200k component goes bad?

Re: Range Rover Sports Club by sooperrescue(m): 6:09pm On Jan 25, 2016
Yes, as far as those components in the Car are in good working condition. The fuel consumption depends on the way you drive and the distance you cover to and from work. The LR3 V6 is superb and very similar to the Ford Explorer as many of its components in the engine are shared. That said, it is still a Land Rover. And they all use Premium unleaded fuel only which is not available in Nigeria. And the major issue you might encounter is if the fuel has not damaged your engineYou should not be worried about fuel when you own a Range. We are lobbying the government on behalf of the forum members to reduce the pump price drastically but meanwhile, fuel should not be an issue as N6000 will fill up the Range if the filling station people are God fearing. I once bought 88 litres in my Sport from an AP station and I cried out and they started begging me to pay them what I have, so I gave them N5000 and we became friends. That is what you should be more concerned about.

I understand sir; i was actually looking at it from a different angle . . .
The RR SPORT HSE and the LR3 HSE both rock a V8 engine but we all know fuel consumption in the LR3 is worse off (thats why i never bothered to ask for her) . . . cos it's kinda heavier than the RR . . .
in such a case, i'll gladly go for the RR ...
We also have Toyota and Fords that are V8 yet with different MPGs ,,,
i am not worried about how much fuel i burn for a v8, i am only worried if a brand is "shortchanging" me as against another
all in the name of V8 . . .
i hope u understand . . .

There are some RRS that consumes 19L/100km and there are some LR3 that consumes 15L/100KM. It is all about the engine oil, the fuel and the general maintenance. Like Nixon 55 stated, that should be the least of your worries. What is paramount is that clean RRS is truly clean and well maintained.

Okay, i am no longer worried. Anything above 10L/100 km is good for me . . anything below that is not so fair a deal . ..
The LR3 it is for me !!!!
Kindly welcome me in advance to the RR/LR sports club grin grin grin

That is the misconception about the suspension issues. Yes it is there but it can be fixed with little effort and little money. Mine have been on the road for 5 years now and I have only changed one air suspension for just N60,000. But I have changed the lower and upper arms on many occasions because I travel on many occasions with the Jeep. On many occasions, I spend N12000 for fuel from Lagos to Abuja and when you are on a long journey, to stop and refresh yourself is very difficult. I just dont want to end the thrill, wanting it to continue. We, my outfit, now fix suspensions on Range Rovers without stress. Most of the time, the jeep needs calibration of the suspensions and that is all that needs to be done but many people just assume that it is the air suspension that is faulty whereas the Jeep suspension height is inaccurate. There is nothing to fear about the suspension or about the repairs, the technology is affordable and it is everywhere. We tend to believe that it is only Coscharis that can fix the Jeep meanwhile the same Coscharis is finding it difficult to fix the problems on the Jeep. They dont repair anything but they change the parts only. There was an Auto Dealer in Lekki that changed the brake pads of someone's Sport for N120,000 whereas the same pads front and back with sensors is not more than N30,000. They changed the A/C system for N400,000 and the A/c lasted for two weeks. It took them 3 months to fix the A/c whereas a simple change of a used compressor for N30,000 will put the A/c in a new cooling condition. Height sensors never go bad inspite of the fragile state of the sensors. There is a Britparts dealer in Lagos that sells the original parts for a fraction of what Coscharis will sell the parts to you. The only problem with the Jeep is when the warning sign of engine performance reduced comes up, it means our regular unleaded fuel is taking a toll on the engine. But there are also solutions too until Dangote's refinery comes on board. Use Octane Boosters. If you have a supercharged, use octane booster at all times or you will be spending money left and right to solve an easy problem. We just fixed the active rolling pump on a supercharged in Abuja. It is the dynamic response of the Jeep and it cost a lot of money. The used engine of a supercharged cost N1.3m if you can get a good one but the engine is built to last. Following the routine maintenance matters a lot. For example, the oil requirement is 5W30 and people use Mobil 1 which is 0W40 and they still find sludge in their engines. Why? Because the oil requirement is not Mobil 1 when it is in Nigeria but Total Q9000, AP Syn and Oando Syn. They are all 5W40 and they are very good. Coscharis once complained to me during an interactive session that they use Mobil 1 on their BMWs because there is no Castrol oil here in Nigeria and they still find sludge in the 3 and 5 series. That was in 2005 and presently we dont know the current situation. The transmission fluid is portrayed as a lifetime fluid but I disagree when it comes to Nigeria. I have been changing the transmission fluid in my Sport for the past 3 years at every 15,000miles and the gear is still much in pristine form. Go get yours and enjoy the benefits the Jeep offers. Many owners dont use coolant or they use coolans not suitable for their Jeep and then the overheating comes to play. Welcome to the Club

Boss is this ur car still available?

Hello sooperrescue,

Is the LR series (I mean LR3 and LR4) identical in parts etc like the range rover? I am interested in the LR3/LR4 but of course I have heard like many other Nigerians that it is super high maintenance. You hear things like each baloon is 500,000 naira and how everything is sensor based and how these sensors light up your instrument cluster like an xmas tree, I had to change my mind and now mainly considering the RX330/350.

The LR3/LR4 is a very prestigious car and I love the Grey/cream or white.

I have read your posts here about the range rover and it is inspiring, but is the LR3/LR4 cheaper in maintenance and more rugged? Is it the same drive train system, wheel system?
Re: Range Rover Sports Club by sooperrescue(m): 12:21pm On Mar 12, 2016
Yes, they are almost the same except in little details. Dont believe the hype you hear about the balloon. The Mecs use that to fleece their customers. Until the Forex crisis, the balloon was sold for 65k, so I dont know where the news came from. A brake light bulb can make the air suspension to malfunction, a brake light switch can make your range to have transmission issues. Range rover does not accept management and staff, They want executive directors who will change a bulb once it is blown and not those who will manage the other brake light till he has time to change it, by then, there would have been issues which will compound the functionality of the Range and then you now find time with your money to fix the problem that you ignored before. The Range brand is cheaper to maintain. A good battery, oil change with filter, twice a year, transmission/axle/auxiliary oil change, yearly, good tyres with V as the minimum speed rating. And dont forget, octane boosters too.
