This woman is an epitome of humility, infact it is now i realize what she must have been going through. In a situation like this the testimony of even one of the children n neighbors should be enough to convict but if you read my post (ASSUMING YOU ARE NOT A CHILD), you would have seen that I said Nigeria has no actual law against domestic violence offenders and I went on to say that the woman in question isn't looking to put the man in jail BECAUSE SHE CAN'T so her best option was divorce and she is in prime position to get it seeing as she is the applicant and not just wife but mother and she has ample reason considering the man's absence (seeing that he's an 'active' activist and the domestic violence allegations.

i disagree wit u totally! madiba was not a known violent afmily man,we knw why d 1st wife left him because his ideals and her strong christian background, the second he divorced becos of the kidnap and subsequent murder of the young chap,wch was bad publicity for him. i HATE men who are violent and who go a far as threatening their wives! case closed!

I have been interested in any news about Dino because I happen to know his wife's family reasonably well . But I'm not here to take sides. This is my take on the issue:
The African adage says "there is no smoke without fire". This suggests that there must have been 'red flags' of domestic violence and infidelity even while the couple were courting. Could she not have picked these up? She probably did but went ahead with the marriage. Dino was a student activist in ABU Zaria, aren't we all aware of the darker side of student activism? So what was the attraction to him? My guess, which could be wrong, is power and the prospect of more of it; being married to a prospective House of Rep. member - but "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely". The dude is power drunk.
There is no justifiable reason for domestic violence, rather domestic violence is a justifiable reason for separation. The man in question, who makes the headlines for the wrong reasons, feels comfortable using his wife as a punching bag however one must ask - could his wife be provocative? Why has she condoned this behaviour for so long? The most humane answer would be for the sake of her children but then the scars of a weeping mother on the psyche of a child is more indelible than growing up in a single parent home.
Now, if the allegations are true then Dino must face the full brunt of the law albeit watered down and largely corrupted in Nigeria. The Fabiyi family should not only sue him but get international women rights NGOs involved and a very good lawyer. She should not just divorce him and be silent, she must get compensation from him and secure the future of her children in the process.
And the lad should be silent about corruption in Nigeria until he puts his house in order...and to the pro-Dino's, please don't use Dino and Madiba in the same sentence. Do not insult the memory of a great statesman. There is no basis for comparison.

I believe the woman. When some ghetto girl was pregnant with her husband's baby she stood by her husband. It was obvious that he was lying. He denied ever doing anything with the girl. She stayed classy through out the whole ordeal. I had never heard of her husband before that time but I was impressed with how she carried herself and tried to hold her family together. Then of course the truth came out. He had fathered the child. Nasty ass man. What is sad is that this woman is not some little girl that he picked out of the bush somewhere. She has done well for herself. She has stayed through infidelities, physical and mental abuse and even now he is holding the kids. It makes you wonder then what women who do not have a quarter of the access this woman has go through. You see a woman like this at a nice restaurant and you do not know that she is probably going home tonight to take another dose for an antibiotic for the latest episode of gonorrhea he has given her. This is rather unfortunate. Every one should focus on making a success of their home rather than making a vocation out of criticism. Like the Holy Scripture said, it is better we try and remove the log in our eyes before making any attempt to remove the speck in other people's eyes. Look at the type of people who want to be our leaders. May GOD save us.

Very unfortunate! Dino met his wife a virgin and for him to treat her as such is the least unfortunate! I remember my younger brother who was a student then in ABU used to complain of how Dino borrows his suits without asking him, even though Dino was not a student then. Dino used to be one of those loafers who hanged around the students center, attend lectures even when he was not a student-he eventually gained admission after being a loafer. We all know Dino as a tout, loudmouth and noise maker-omo ale!
