Sagytarius: Errm, suppose the country decides to Split as the outcome of the confab; hope it doesn't disqualify Nigeria from taking part in the World Cup Finals :-/ the world cup is the least of our problems people are dying today in nigeria for things that other more stable countries never experience we should fix ourselves first before competing in international games that even why we have never lifted the world cup yet instead of going there perpetually and winning nothing, we should go as biafra, odua and arewa i can assure you that biafra will win it croatia performed better than yugoslavia after the collapse of yogoslavia so no biggie there 4 Likes |

Ordinary state matters, the Mandela of otuoke is having an herculean task keeping up, how muche ore the confab. It's good. Some economic burdensome, ingrates, greedy and covetous people on our prosperous land can leave for their red mud "cities" by 2015. Outright splitting of the damn country. We already know the people that will be foot dragging, whining and grumbling against division, telling us others are, eyeing their properties, that is why they want the country to break. Just carry whatever is yours and leave by 2015. |

The last time we attempted a national conference, it was over shadowed by third term for Obasanjo. I hope this national conference will not be mainly about 2nd term for Jonathan or an extension of his first term. A proper constitution conference cannot be rush. Ordinary preliminary ground works for the conference that was to take a couple of months have stretched several months. Some core areas of disputes such as derivation formula, resources control and power sharing formula would take years to negotiate. Ordinary less than 10 items being negotiated by 2 parties - ASUU and FG took 6 months and almost led to "war " and you expect hundred of contentious issues by hundreds of tribes that make up Nigeria to take a few months. And we have not considered the time all the proposals will spend in the national assembly. Some proposals have been in he national assembly since 1999. That is after going through the whole 36 state assemblies. Meanwhile president Jonathan does not have 2/3 majority support in the states and national assembly. |

Their excesses has been D reason for the clamouring of Soverign National confrence. I repeat D north has no issue to raise other than to devise means to fund themselves and others in this nation. They are bigger and should do D bigger work. |

Nigeria doesn't need any national conference. What we need is strong and purposeful leadership. The only reason Jonathan is going on with this conference is cos the northern governors have been giving him hell. This conference is his way of blackmailing them the same way they've been blackmailing him. If Jonathan was a lil more assertive and focused, there wouldn't be the need for this national conference. We don't need a national conference cos we're always going to have people who don't want Nigeria to exist, like the ethnic nationalists- MASSOB, OPC, MEND, and the AREWA groups. We need strong, purposeful, honest and sincere leadership. |

We are not a cursed people but the way Nigeria is structured cannot ever allow a focused leader to arise, so that is the problem. GEJ is not our problem but our governors are. You do not expect GEJ to do the work of 36 people. What we need is true federalism. |

This is a good development; it'll make Nigerians to decide how the country will be either true federal system, regional, ethnic, tribal, language, religious, male rule yourselves, likewise female). At least let's start afresh and do away with amalgamation, military and ethnic constitution we presently have. God bless Nigeria but after 2014 we remain blessing of God continue but if we go our separate ways still God bless the various countries produced. |

silent don: It's either regional government or Oduduwa republic. Nothing else!!! No, No No. Never for Oduduwa Republic. The conference should ensure it abolishes Indiginization Policy and replaces it with State of Resident (edited). It should make provision for permanent transfer of inheritance. Land use act should be abolished. Equality of all Nigerians should be protected by law. Merit define as higher grade in test /examination, possession of superior skill(s), higher Intelligent Quotient, necessary qualifications (ability to do the job not necessarily or limited to paper qualifications), popularity and influence for democratise post, integrity and incorruptible antecedents etc should be made a standard for reward while quota systems should be abolished. Maximum Punishment should be instituted for corrupt public officers to discourage corruption. All Nigerians resident in Nigeria having private foreign accounts should be forced or encouraged to invest them in Nigeria . Families should be responsible for inculcating values and morals in their wards and liable for punishment from assault, crime or any law broken by their minors. Nigeria must work again. 1 Like |

Ngwakwe: See thieves. They are looking for opportunity to be claiming Rivers Delta Kano, and Lagos. Sorry, everybody is wiser now and we can see through your covetousness. This is Africa and not America. Capital NO for state of residence as place of origin . No regionalism. It should be outright division. Y1bos are developing cold feets as the confab is approaching. |

Something tells me that all these lies from Sanusi, Obasanjo and Tambuwal throwing tantrum has to do with this Confab not 2015. The timing shows it is for Confab. Obasanjo writing letter and coping to Northern Ex-Presidents, Buhari meeting Obasanjo, and Obasanjo working covertly for the APC. They are fighting their last battle, forcing their people from the North to decamp in order to get enough legislators to initiate impeachment of the President before the Confab will start. This obviously won't work! The two regions that are perpetual parasites to this Country working hand in hand to ensure that the status quo remains. We must restructure or disintegrate. There's no going back. 1 Like |

Ngwakwe: Good. And; 1. land should be classified as a resource with graded taxation for land use depending on state of origin. For example for use of land in Kano( market stores, farmland, housing, shops, hotels) or Kaduna the tax/rent payable by some one from Akwa Ibom or Bayelsa state will be commisurate to the state per capita proportion. 2. The states that contributed land to the making of FCT i.e. Niger, Kaduna, Nassarawa and Kogi will be compensated and will continue to be paid rent annually by the FGN. Property tax in the FCT will also vary with state of origin. 3. The same formula will be used in educational institution ownership and admission of students from other states and taxation for traders and business persons, agriculturalists, hoteliers etc. 4. There will also be differential taxation for the movement of food and animals to some states. I am actually writing a paper on this and I struggle to be a rep at the conference. We have to make it beneficial to all. 1 Like |
