EMMAACHILE: All network work well on Qsat if you know what you are doing.
Airtel and Glo are apn specific. It means you must use its apn for it to work.

Airtel apn: internet.ng.airtel.com
Glo data apn: gloflat. User/pass: flat

But if you don't have data on Glo and using direct credit use

Glo: glosecure. User/pass: secure
learned something new here!

adanny01: Isnt it strange that we walk into a D*tv office to buy their system for a friend. He had the money but the nightmarw of spending that huge sum monthly scared him. We went out and what we saw opposite was a satellite equipment store. We walked in and there was several Qsat decoders lying around while one was just activated. I asked, arent you scared of doing this right opposite their office, he said, 'we have been sued and they are tired of arresting us, meanwhile we arw still in business and we will pay our lawyers from salea proceeds if it gets there'.

My friend got the Qsat, 2months later, he tells me thank you, if it stops today i have not lost a kobo.

5k is a good amount for D*tv to end this madness, i hate it when i have visitors or when it gets really interesting and the thing freezes.

Love this part:
"'we have been sued and they are
tired of arresting us, meanwhile we arw still in
business and we will pay our lawyers from sale proceeds if it gets there'."
Its FTA decorder whats dsthieves problem?

I wouldnt want to argue more on the legality of Qsat or otherwise, cos i know few people are actually knowledgeable about the law of piracy, whilst many are not.

The way the sale of Qsat is being abused, will lead to the total blackout, which i pray happens few days to the start of the new European season.

the guardian Wednesday, 16 July 2014 20:02 Written by John Akubo, Lokoja :

Commission clamps down on broadcasting pirates in Lokoja

THE Nigerian Copyright Commission has taken its war against broadcasting pirates to Lokoja, Kogi State capital where some suspects were recently apprehended.

The commission’s enforcement agents in collaboration with Multi Choice, the owners of DSTV, identified some of the suspects and arrested a handful of them.

Mr. Chukwuemeka Ngene, a senior copyright officer in the commission who spoke to newsmen warned pirates in the country to desist from the illegal act or face the full wrath of the law.

Ngene who led the tax force team of the commission to Lokoja for the clampdown on the suspects said those arrested were caught in the act. He indicated that they specialised in house to house wiring using some gadgets to break into the established signal of the satellite company and distributing them to unsuspected subscribers for commercial purposes, noting that this act is capable of pushing the legitimate and licensed broadcasting satellite operators who are the pay TV owners out of business

According to him, the activities of pirates in the country have become a nightmare to legitimate business owners preventing them from reaping the fruits of their labour.

Ngene said five suspects were arrested for the illegal act in Lokoja. He displayed the exhibits collected from them that included laptops, black boxes, decoders and other gadgets they used in hacking into signals belonging to DSTV, My TV, Strong and other satellite service providers.

He said: “As you can see we caught the five of them in the act. The message is very clear, there is no hiding place for pirates in Nigeria. After our thorough investigation we will charge them to court under the Nigeria Copyright Law 2004 of the country.

“The essence of this clampdown is to get the suspects who are directly involved in the hacking the signals and during investigation, they will lead us to the source of the materials they use in their operation.”

The copyright officer said the operation in Kogi State is among other operations laid down by the commission, which he said is taking place simultaneously in all the 36 states of the federation including Abuja.

One of the suspects, who identified himself as Musa Ndese, said he was in his house when one of his boys in the store called him that some people needed his attention. He added that a few minutes after the call the same boy told him that he was not the person the men wanted to see.

Ndese said he was relaxing in his house at Adankolo when two men, including policemen, entered his house and arrested him for indulging in the illegal act of hacking satellite broadcasting systems.

He claimed that though he deals in selling and maintenance of decoders, he was never involved in piracy as alleged by the men of the commission.

Another suspect, Eugene, questioned the law that will make people to bump into another person’s shop and start molesting him.

He said it was the handiwork of DSTV, which have lost ideas on how to upgrade their technology and going around looking for innocent Nigerians struggling to eke out a living.

It was a serious drama for the commission officials as a suspect who they had arrested at Slim Peters Ventures Nigeria Limited was left off the hook by two police officers that were supposed to help the officials. Chioma Christopher the supposed sales girl of the suspect that escaped and one Gabriel Okafor who said he came to buy something were arrested in his place.

The five suspects were taken to Abuja after the operation.

The commission is vested with the power to enforce the Nigeria’s Copy Right Act.

This is not the first from the NCC and Dstv, and it wont be the last. Its an act of desperation and it wont lead anywhere. They might as well arrest a million or more nigerian .
I will not bother with the legality of the arrest coz I know nigeria is a country without legal structure. Rather I'll focus on NCC&DSTV desperate action.
Arresting this ppol is wrong and neither will it solve the problem. 5 nigerian arrested with the hope they will spill their guts. So lets say they do..... will they now go arrest the direct importer of the decoders, lets say they also do that.... is there any law in Nigeria banning the importation of FTA decorder...... Ofcourse there isn't, the dealer are not in charge of what the final consumer does with the purchased product, what if I buy my own and what I did with it is to smash it on the ground.
Its the final consumer that determine the use of the product. The import only import a legal good, the installer installs a legal good..... its the consumer that is doing the wrong thing . And the root cause of the consumer action is the inflated price of dstv. So DSTV should do the right thing and NCC should stop acting like paid tout who dont realise that their arrest is non and void in the court of law due to no warrant of arrest and no warrant to enter into their shop. Their case will only stand if they actually cut this person on the road or public place doing the illegality.
