seun, i'm particularly impressed about how creative u are. i'm so impressed. keep the good work going. there are so many ills going on in our society and this is a good way of speaking out. i should try my hand on a story. i should be able to win the prize. N25,000 is not bad for a few lines! hahahahahaha.
Re: Short Story Contest: Tuneh Won by whiteroses(f): 2:55pm On Aug 18, 2008
you are all suckers if you fall for this, thhe is a scam that is my opinion, so if i win 25,000 you will now ask me to give you my bank details, because i dont see why you want to give this money away now, are you working for a story board or something, in my high school if you win story writing competition you win something so what board is yours, and dont delete this, let others see angry

Goodluck ,  try this out -  A Corper is serving in a high school in Nigeria ,  he is a graduate of theatre arts majoring in film ,  he starts mentoring the drama club in the school ,  he starts a competition in the school and offers N50 to the person who writes a very riveting and captivating short story that he could make into a film ,  hundreds of students write in, he selects the winning entry and proceeds to make the movie after his completion of his NYSC service year ,  the film is successful and makes tonnes of money ,  meanwhile the successful writer of the short story has to withdraw from school because his folks can no longer pay his tuition and boarding fees ,  knowing the the story he wrote has grown to become a successful nollywood movie ,  he approaches the ex Youth Corper who is now a successful film producer/director and asks that he be given more money for the story that beget the film ,  the film producer brushes him off saying that "a deal is a deal" ,  frustrated and feeling cheated ,  the desperate student does the ex Corper a favour by sending him to an early grave!!!

P.S

If the corper had offered N50,000 instead of N50 ,  the student will have had enough to see himself through school ,  and the Corper will still be alive.

Moral of the story is ,  do not pay peanuts for talent ,  especially when the talent is the creation of a genuis of a story or idea that you deem fit is so good that you are ready to risk sinking loads of money into it, to transform it to a full fledged feature film

Prove your talent first, and then you can start complaining. No talent, no whining.

If the story is not original, it will not fetch you anything!

Clearly, there will be only one winner. Those who narrowly miss the prize may get a consolation prize.

Hi Seun
I was expecting to see short stories posted, not short plays. Or am I missing something? Anyways they're good.
Re: Short Story Contest: Tuneh Won by jite(f): 12:46pm On Aug 20, 2008
hi Seun
pls ignore my last post. one thing though. what's the criteria fot judging the stories. are you doing it alone?
Re: Short Story Contest: Tuneh Won by Seun(m): 3:26pm On Aug 20, 2008
what's the criteria for judging the stories. are you doing it alone?
I'm going to be the primary judge but I have a wide network of acquaintances I consult for such matters.  Your story should be very interesting, educative, believable, unforgettable, et cetera.  Very good in every respect.  Enjoyable.

Thanks.

What happens to the writer if this goes to the cinemas? You want to make money from this and see how little you're offering for it. You know what? You're just like every other Nigerian out there looking for an easy way out - "A short-cut to success." This is not what I expect from a forum admin. How old are you anyway? Sorry!

Seun:

If you need ideas or some great path to success, or path to making money, which ever way you define success, I think you already got it, you're just not seeing it.
Re: Short Story Contest: Tuneh Won by Seun(m): 4:34pm On Aug 21, 2008
Making a movie is by no means a "shortcut" to anything. It's an expensive, complicated, failure-prone process.
Re: Short Story Contest: Tuneh Won by babadigu(m): 5:48pm On Aug 21, 2008
