I buttress your point "the doctors directed the patients to their private clinics"...even when they are not on strike, they brainwash their patients and redirect them to their own private hospitals so that they can line their own pockets with the exorbitant fees they charge...I have a personal example of that

This issue on redirection to private clinics makes me laugh. majority of Nigerians who visit govt hospitals don't have enough money to go private ( or you think they don't know the way there) then arriving there the same dr will send you to where you are running from. its hilarious.

the people who go to private clinics don't even come near govt hospitals cos they can afford it, i have personally seen numerous people who have come to the govt hospital and ask specifically to be directed to a private clinic where they can meet a specialist. they don't have time for govt hospital wahala, and the reason they do this is because many "DRS" are out there.

princenonny: you are simply envious because the dr is young, beautiful and sexy. She knws she has beauty and brains in abundance so is it a crime to express it? Obviously u are primitive minded and I want u hater to leave d hospital n go n consult herbalists since dey hv better primitive care u r seeking for. By d time dey pack ur kidneys d sexy dr in question will be ever willing to rescue your wretched soul

azimibraun: You guys are talking of the presentthats ok. Am seriously thinking about the future. Its a bleak future for our health system. Medical students arand young Doctors are not showing any sign of committment to the Job. From their body language u knw these guys are out to make the money and rock their lives to the fullest. If Doctors who graduated frm medical school in the 70s and early 80s cld b dis irresposible with their quest for a "Rockstar" lifestyle I js wonder what these new kids on the block will do. A doctor doesn't miss niteclubs and hve babes left right center and dresses like Wizkid and Davido with blings . We all know this because they live amogst us.
Actually, NOBODY is committed to work in this Great Country. Even the super eagles are after money

ps your post stinks of ENVY.

Envy that what? That people who are meant to save lives spend more time looking beautiful.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. And people talk based on experiences. If I did not grow up in a hospital environment I would have said I don't no anything or the fact that I saw first hand things that happuen in the hospital. So don't come here and be talking bull. Until when u are directly affected before u no how painful this things are. And I will stand by my word anywhere, many Nigerian doctors are incompetent. Especially the young ones. You don't have to agree. But to say an envious. Envious of what? Is it not this same country. Or do doctors get jobs immediately they finish? Or is there a special allowance they get? Or does the name magically put food on their table........

Do you also realise that luth is one of the best if not the best government owned hospital. They have very good hands. When you talk of trained and experienced doctors. You get them in luth. They refer a lot of people from private hospitals and other hospitals round Nigeria to luth. Luth will only refer u outside Nigeria. Or the case of when my mum was sick and the so called ct scan was bad. That is when they tell u to go to another place to do a scan and bring the result back to luth. It is wrong to refer patients to another hospital in luth. My friends dad almost got sacked. Most times its a deliberate effort that most of their machines that get spoilt don't get fixed on time.

2, I met some rich people in the ward. At least when u see someone that is well to do, u will no. It is not always about the money but about professionalism. And luth comes tops in that aspect. Just that it is either u stay in the private wing or u are an ex staff before u get a proper medical care and attention. That was what saved my mum.

from the above i assumed you grew up in or around LUTH, I have been to many hospitals in the country and many are outstanding in terms of professional hands not just luth. There are also many private clinics in lagos that can take on Luth anytime.

its not a delibrate effort to keep machines spoilt thats where the govt comes in, am not going to use my money to fix hospital property am I?

Rich people in the wards yes, they are they but i can categorically tell you that many of them are in private clinics not teaching hospitals.

my main issue is your statement of diversion of patients to private clinics i have worked in both and i can assure you that MAJORITY of patients in govt hospital cannot afford a private clinic.

That is why u are been bias wiv out addressing the issue. I earlier stated that she wore high heels and when she was supposed to rush to my mum who was between life and death. She could not walk fast instead she was cat walking. And then I took a closer look at her and I saw that she did not only wear high heels she put so much make up on her face. I am very logical and I was pissed. U of all people no every second counts ina human life. All the time she used to catwalk to meet my mum at a and e, something else could have happened. She did not look serious to me. How about the younger doctor who was to just help give my mum drip and she could not do it because she was shaking. Why should a doctor shake. Don't be biased.

Well I was made to understand that the best hands are usually in public owned hospitals. Except maybe reddington and the likes. I also know that they refer some patients to luth. I have never viewed people who go to public hospitals as poor. I always felt they needed the best hands. But luth is not so poor as people think. The hospital bills are quite expensive for a public institution. Meanwhile based on what I saw, I still feel the younger generation of doctors are incompetent. I still have doctor friends in luth who smoke weed and keep punk hair. I just don't no how they combine it.

the best hands are usually in public hospitals doesnt mean the private clinics are staffed by quacks.

my issue on the status of the patients in public hospitals is not to deride or in derogatory terms. I am just being realistic with the facts on ground, you have read through this thread to see where Drs give their money ,even donate blood this is not tales by moonlight, it really bites out there. you must have heard about the 1 dollar and nigerian survival issue. many patients cannot afford to go to private clinics so they attend public hospitals and to say these patients will be diverted to a private clinic is something else.

You said it yourself you mum required a CT scan done and the one in Luth so you had to take her outside and get it done and bring the results back to luth. ( now you grew up in the hospital environment so you could understand)

let me tell you what the average Nigerian will say, wherever you did the Ct scan its the dr who sent you there that owns it.

I said before i have worked in both and i know the category of people i see MOSTLY in each.
