Yemlizzy: Both are like canterworms that could eat up a man if not attended to. Lack of exposure can always be corrected anyway, illiteracy is a terrible disease.

illiteracy as well, can be corrected with just a few years in school. think about it....

Both looks alike to me. Unexposed person is likely an illiterate in many areas. The fact that the person can read and write but doesn't know how the world and civilized society works is more or less illiteracy. Hahaha...

To me its better to be lirterate and not exposed than be illerate and exposed. Illeteracy its a bad thing in all it entirety. THE QUESTION I'LL LIKE TO ASK IS THAT WISH ONE IS BETTER TO BE EDUCATED BUT LACK CONFIDENCE OR TO BE ILLETERATE WITH CONFIDENCE

You're doing literacy a disservice with your grammar.

you can be an illiterate and be experienced but you can be educated in the best schools and still lack exposure/experience.
Re: Lack of exposure and Illiteracy which is worse off? by Nobody: 1:21pm On Jul 16, 2014
I've seen illiterates who are exposed and highly educated people who are not exposed and narrow minded in their thinking. I've also seen illiterates who are not exposed. I think its worse when an individual is not exposed!

Lack of exposure is worse off because when you meet different people, you socialise and adopt a better lifestyle.its not about going to school, its about behaving like an educated person.when one is not exposed, how do you expect them to know whats going on around them?
Re: Lack of exposure and Illiteracy which is worse off? by Tnot(m): 1:46pm On Jul 16, 2014
Let me put it this way. If you are exposed, the level at which you will gain literacy through exposure will be restricted. While a literate can be exposed as much as possible.

i think a lot of people are just picking lack of exposure as worse of just for the sake of it. illiteracy in the 21st century is one of the worst conditions a person can find himself in. gaining exposure really is as simple as picking up a book, browsing the internet, watching tv, maintaining an active social life etc. half of those things i mentioned up there are off limits to the illiterate.

There is nothing bad about illiteracy or under exposure. The most important thing is wisdom. Although many people don't know the real meaning of illiteracy. Illiteracy is simply the inability to read or write in any human language. Exposure is relative depending on your status
Re: Lack of exposure and Illiteracy which is worse off? by JEITO: 2:37pm On Jul 16, 2014
Actually, lack of exposure is in a way, a subset of illiteracy.

lagcity:

But we are all ignorant of something and will always be. If you are literate, you have the tool to get rid of your ignorance or lack of exposure in a particular area.
Look, I have never been to Japan before but if I plan to visit, I can read a book about Japanese culture and customs. I can learn the appropriate handshake, bow, eye contact, and chopstick technique so that I do not look like a complete id1ot the moment I land at Tokyo airport. If I can't read, how do I begin to learn about Japan? I would have to go find a random Japanese or someone who knows about Japanese culture.
lack of Exposure can still leave a person totally confused in so many aspect. Being informed about a thing has less to do with the language with which it is communicated but more about being in a position to learn. literacy will aid exposure more than exposure can aid literacy any day. People who aren't educated still need to live a decent life.

I'd say I'm not exposed(relative though) , but I'd also say It's pretty easy to get exposed when you're ready and have the means,(time or money).Wouldn't take a month to pick up.
But illiteracy... You better go to school.
Re: Lack of exposure and Illiteracy which is worse off? by dagbokoncept(m): 4:36pm On Jul 16, 2014
Illeteratcy is a disease. Imagine when someone cannot read and write, automatically evrrything in his immediate environment becomes magical. Though lack of exposure is bad too but cannot be compare with illeteracy in all ramifications. Sorry to chip in this, i have a friend who has never been to school despite his business orientations, 90% of things remains strange to him because he can't read even a common sign post. A learned person can easily adapt to a new environment easily. Moreover exposure depends on individuals nature, lifestyle and upbringing.
