Whereas a £45,000 merc today features plastic painted chrome and a relatively flimsy and uninspiring feel. Yes an argument can be made for making cars lighter and thus more 'aerodynamics' but the trade-off is quality of build which results in today's cars costing relatively more than in the past yet unable to last anywhere as long as previous offerings.
