CFCfan: Instead of adding new states, some states should merge with others. For instance, Ebonyi could be merged back with Enugu.
Arrant nonsense! Such should not and will never happen.

It totally baffles me hearing this kind of stories from nigeria. What's the benefit of creating an additional 19 states when we can't even manage the 36 we have. Creating extra states means more trouble and more economic crisis.

The Ikwerre people and the Rivers state will by default become landlocked. The new Oil Rivers state will however be shared by Ijaw and some other Igbo groups, but i think GEJ's plan here is to have the capital on the coast on Ijaw territory.

anyone saying Ikwerre will be landlocked doesn't know Nigeria. Rivers will still have Port Harcourt which is the second busiest sea port in Nigeria. PH looks inland on a map but if you zoom in you realize that the land below it is just a bunch of marsh swamp and forested islands.

No Igbo community should be part of the "Oil Rivers State". All Igbo communities must remain in the new "Rivers State".

The *new* Rivers State involves the following Igbo areas: Port Harcourt, Obio-Akpor, Obigbo, Opobo/Nkoro, Bonny, Ahoada West, Ahoada East, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Emuoha, Ikwerre, Etche, Omuma, together with the Ogoni (Eleme, Tai, Khana, Gokana).
