SirShymex:

Never say never - however, for him to become PM, there will have to be a miracle. Even in the Labour party, David Lammy is more of better politician - with Harvard background that represents the elitist British aristocracy. And he's the type of black man, white folks love - and that was evident during the last London riot. Coupled with the fact that he's vying for London mayoral election in 2016. If he can win that - then he should be far above Chuka Umunna in the Labour party.

Then you've got Peckham raised millionaire, Adam Afriyie, in the conservative party. And he has been touted to succeed David Cameron as the head of the conservative party. And if Scotland were to leave the union - that would automatically turn the UK politics in a Tory affair. So, Adam Afriyie also has a better chance.

That said - anything is possible.

Chuka does have a chance, however a very very slim chance. Lammy stands a better chance but nothing close to what's needed to be prime minister. His influence in the black community is overrated, he couldn't even get the riots to stop in his own Tottenham. Perhaps if he's able to conquer London in 2016, he'd be in a better position.

Those touting Alfriyie to succeed Cameron are only dreaming, the Conservative party has many millionaires & if anyone stands a chance if succeeding Cameron, it's Boris Johnson.

Scotland isn't going anywhere, it's a safe bet.

Any black person who is perceived to pose a threat of any kind will always be frustrated, blacks in the UK aren't even as united as blacks in the US, most UK blacks who succeed tend to leave their black background & integrate into the white community.

But as you said, never say never so who knows

The writer of this piece needs to be flogged. This Chuka guy is a Labour MP. He may become a prime minister in future but certainly not in 2015 as Ed Milliband is currently in line to become PM if Labour wins. He can only become PM if Labour looses (which is highly unlikely) and that would be in 2020. Even at that there are many senior colleagues in the Lanour rank, people like Harriet Harman who would give him a run for his money. Then the racist, aristocratic royal family would obviously stand in his way. Tall order, if you ask me cry cry kiss undecided lipsrsealed embarassed tongue

Bus she speaks fact. People a quick to claim what they didn't build.

The fact someone has an African ancestry doesn't make them African. Just like Obama, the only thing African in him is the Kenyan spe*rm which conceived him.

He was raised by a white mother, in a white culture, same applies to Umunna.

50calibre: Yeah people keep saying this, hailing him as the British Obama but they're forgetting something important.

Britain isn't the US, blacks are still a minority in the UK, Chuka Umunna himself is uncharismatic, too stiff and frankly doesn't unite the crowd like Obama did. Umunna isn't even popular in the black community, he's too posh and can't relate to the average black boy. He's a shadow business secretary, that's like one of the most boring things ever.

The British still covertly practice racism, they don't speak it, they show it. Black faces are very scarce in politics, & the few either hold less recognisable positions or frustrated out of office by backbiting & lack of promotion.

spot on! I don't see the chuka dude getting that slot, with the enormous racism in U.k,Never!!!

Really? A labour loss is highly unlikely? Why do you say that, because polls will disagree with you.

Harriet Harman is too old to even think of being party leader, if she isn't dead by then, she'd be retired.
