Njoku Visits Ow. West, Ohaji/egbema, Ehime Mbano, Obowo … Canvases For Votes by Nobody: 8:12am On Sep 01, 2014
Frontline gubernatorial aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO Prof. Jude Ejikeme Njoku continued his consultations with the party leaders and stakeholders in the 27 Local government areas of Imo state with particular visit to Owerri West, Ohaji/Egbema, Ehime Mbano and Obowo.
The Professor of Agric Economic who was obviously elated at the reception accorded to him said the time to emancipate Imo State has come, stressing that God Almighty has heard the prayers of Imolites for decent leadership and sanity in governance. 

At Owerri West Local government, Prof. Njoku told the leaders of the party that his track records and experience in different sectors particularly in the University system has prepared him adequately for the task of restoring Imo State to her epic position, stressing that what Imo state needs at this point in time is a credible leader who is humble, humane and trustworthy.

He told the party leaders that the masses are yearning for a change and advised them to shine their eyes very well before selecting the candidate that will represent the party in the 2015 general election stressing that imposition of unpopular candidates by the party has been an albatross for electoral success.

He challenged the leaders to listen to the voices of the man and woman on the street, stating that it is not getting the party ticket that is important but wining the hearts and minds of the electorate. 

Earlier in his speech, the PDP chairman for Owerri West, Dr Uche Uchehara said it was evident that God was patiently preparing the former Vice Chancellor for the governorship seat, stating that Prof. Njoku has been a strong pillar in PDP from inception and deserves the party's support and accolades.


He disclosed that Prof. Njoku was not only educated and well lettered but humble, stating the erudite scholar is a proponent of Igbo language and culture. 
He reiterated his belief that if Prof. Njoku becomes the next governor of the state, he will do well stating that he is humble, God fearing and a committed Christian to the core and advised him to pray onto God diligently.
Dr. Uchehara used the occasion to restate the commitment of the leadership of the party to give all the aspirants a level playing field stressing that Prof. Njoku was not only qualified but a frontline aspirant and a strong contender assuring him that when the time comes to elect their candidate, Owerri West will remember him. 

Also speaking a PDP stalwart and former chairman of NUJ, Chief Dr. Fidel Onyeneke described Prof. Njoku as an officer and gentleman saying it is the first time a renowned professor has signified interest to be the governor of Imo State stating that it portends good omen for the state.

He disclosed that as VC of FUTO, Prof. Njoku gave admissions and employments to sons and daughters of Owerri West stating that it is payback time for him. 
Chief Onyeneke further stated that Prof. Njoku has a lot of relationship with the people of Owerri West LGA and has played prominent roles in enhancing the people of the area pleading with them to support his aspirations to become the governor of Imo State come 2015. 
In his own contributions, Navy Commander Ogechi Osuagwu said PDP as the party parades responsible, credible intellectuals saying these intellectuals will help develop Imo State. He stated that for the first time, an intellectual in the person of Prof. Njoku who he described as globally known is interested in governing Imo State stressing that people must rally round to support him. At Umuagwo in Ohaji Egbema local government, Prof. Njoku told party leaders and stakeholders that God has offered PDP another opportunity to recover the leadership of the state urging them to seize this golden opportunity to restore the party's image by fielding a credible candidate who will be acceptable to the masses of the state.
He advised them to shun money bags and contractors and select a candidate that will be loyal to them and carry them along stressing that the era of money bags and thugs in the politics of Imo State has gone and people are now looking for credible honest and trustworthy people who they can trust with their destiny.
Prof. Njoku appealed to them to support him promising not to disappoint or neglect them when in office. 
In his response, the LG party chairman Hon. Henry Aguguo said the capability of Prof. Jude E. Njoku is not in doubt as his credibility, viability; sagacity and humility are evident for all to see, promising him that Ohaji Egbema people will speak with one voice when the time comes. 

He regretted the negative image given to the people saying the people of the local government are reliable, dependable and reasonable.
He advised all the aspirants of the party to come together and organize themselves assuring that the leadership of Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie will organize transparent and credible primaries.

Also speaking, a woman leader in Ohaji Egbema, Dr. Mrs. Nina Nwulu said the name of Prof. Njoku is symbolic as his name always paves way for him in times such as this.

She reiterated her belief that Prof. Njoku is capable saying the Prof she knows will not fail the people stressing that at the appropriate time, the people will speak with one voice.

At Umuezeala Ehime Mbano, Prof. Njoku who was also former Commissioner for Lands and Urban development and that of Education, told the party leader that part of the failures of PDP in 2011 is the fielding of wrong candidates advising the party stakeholders to shine their eyes and elect credible candidates who will be acceptable to Imolites from different parties and social learning. “You must select people based on their past track records of achievements, somebody you know his or her family background who will not be Lord over all of us. You must select those who will loyal to you and the party. If you select a wrong person, litigations will trail his candidacy and before the cases will be settled, elections would have been over, “he stressed.

In his speech, a prominent son of the area, Associate Professor James Lemchi said this is the first time he will stick out his neck to support any candidate stressing that for a man of Prof. Njoku's stature to come out for Imo governorship calls for celebration. He appealed to his people not to make a grave mistake by choosing wrongly and urged them to put their trust in Professor Njoku as he will never disappoint them. “This is the first time I am coming to support any candidate. 
Prof. Njoku is a reliable person. We must not make any mistake this time as it will costly. Prof Njoku is an Agric Specialist and will use his knowledge to revive agriculture in the state. I plead with you to support him to the end, “he appealed.

Also speaking in support of Prof. Njoku, a renowned politician in Imo State, Chief Zeek Martins Nnadozie said Prof. Njoku has all the qualities to lead the state into a new dawn urging his people not to compromise their conscience because of money.

At Ogboko Obowo LGA, Prof Njoku appealed to the party leaders to select a guber candidate in the mould of Chief Sam Mbakwe who he said left a lasting legacy and made a good name in the annals of the state. He described Obowo as a haven of prominent and trustworthy personalities and urged the people to follow suit by electing credible, transparent and humble people that will not disappoint them.

He appealed to them to support his candidacy promising not to let the people down. “I want you to support me in picking the PDP ticket. I will not disappoint or disobey you. I will work with all of you to develop this place. I am a humble person from a humble background, “he stressed. 

Prof. Njoku also appealed to them to offer advice to him as he does not have all the wisdom and knowledge about politics and also pray for him for God's blessing stating that it is God that chooses who will be the next governor of the state. 

Responding, the LG party chairman, Godson Nwaobasi spoke glowingly about Prof. Njoku describing him as a good man and urged the stakeholders to carry the message to the masses.

In each place visited, the DG Prof. Njoku campaign Organization, Hon. Chief Celestine Ehirim extolled the qualities of Prof. Njoku and urged Imolites to look deeper and prayerfully and elect a candidate that will take the state to a higher level. He described Prof. Njoku as a divine gift to restore sanity in the governance of the state stressing that with his experiences and global connections, Prof Njoku will transform the state into its original positions.
