Rising from its 20th World Igbo Convention in Houston, Texas, USA, on August 20, leaders of the South-east political zone unanimously endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan to do a second term to complete the turn of the South-south. Addressing journalists yesterday on the outcome of the congress, Chief Emmanuel Nwanyanwu, who attended the occasion as one of the leaders from the South-east, explained that various issues bothering the nation were deliberated upon, but noted that the support for Jonathan came top in the discussions. According to Nwanyanwu, the issue of zoning the Presidency to the South-south would be laid to rest if Jonathan is supported for his second term in office while other zones take their turns after him. He also disclosed that the Igbos were giving their support to Jonathan because of his remarkable achievements which have impacted on their lives, such as the Niger Bridge and the second one under construction, passable Onitsha/Enugu and Onitsha/Owerri roads. He stated that part of the resolutions of the congress was a call on all Nigerians to support the president in his fight against terrorism, noting that those behind the insurgency in the country are those who are seeking the nation’s disintegration.
