A wee bit of correction....it was under a Hausa and a Yourba and a Angas heads of state that Nigeria expanded its highways, started Ajaokuta, set up factories...especially car factories and expanded the national grid....all in the 1970's.

(The Angas leader also set up the NYSC, the NACB ....Nigeria's first microfinance bank...and even built the National Stadium and the FESTAC village...And started the Federal Government Colleges. The Hausa started Nigeria's first national campaign against corruption....and even he subjected himself to investigation! And the Yoruba also completed FESTAC, and made vital contributions to our culture...and gave us 6334 system of education. And both the Hausa and the Yoruba handed over to civilians in 1979...it was Hausa's idea, and Yoruba finished it.).


The problem with Nigeria is that 1) We abandoned the development trend of the 1970's and focused more on the sharing of money.And we got hooked up to oil....to the point that today our economic development is based on oil price...and experts say we would be in trobule if oil prices fell below $70

2) The oil price collpase of 1982 and the massive looting jamboree of the second republic(which all tribes were responsible for....not just the Hausas)...led to serious economic crises in the 80's and 90's (IBB made things worse).

3.Right now Nigeria's economy is on the upward swing...only because oil prices are high. Which is why I would be happy if GEJ gets us off oil and into industrial development....where we use our raw materials to power our industries....keeping up the spirit of the 70's.

Nigeria's problem is not just one tribe....it is the idea since independence that development comes via sharing the money. It does not.....and neither are we rich. We need industrial development. Simples.

The politics of Nigeria is a mess.
