The Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, on Thursday urged the government of Anambra to build its proposed refinery in the state to actualise its petroleum potentials. Uba told NAN in Nnewi, Anambra that no commercial gain had been made from the petroleum potentials of the state because the sector had not been positioned to maximise the benefits. He said that apart from the low production of crude in the state, the prerequisite structure to commercialise production were lacking due to undeveloped products transportation system. Uba said that a top up refinery should be built to give the state an edge in the industry as well as serve the petroleum needs of the state. He pointed out that the state presently did not have access to the export routes and as such could not play competitively in the industry. Uba said such bold steps at the state level could help in achieving national self-sustainability and stability in the oil and gas demand and supply. “For now, our output is low and we cannot compare ourselves with the commercial producing states and our external export lines, that is, waterways to move our crudes outside the country are not there. “So we cannot export because the river to berth vessels is not there now and we cannot join the consolidation of crude like Escravos that serves as national grid for producers. “Since these structures have not been developed, what Anambra needs now is to strategise so that it maximises what is available,” he said. Uba said that the state could achieve that if it built a top up refinery to internally refine its crude and make itself attractive to other states. “To become a competitive player in the industry, the state must create an advantage like having a refinery; it is possible for a state to build if the person in power has the right attitude. “I believe that Gov. Willie Obiano can do it but it depends on his advisers and the advice they give him,” he said. On the dispute and occasional conflicts between Anambra, Enugu and Kogi on the oil belt which bordered the states, the marketer said dialogue should be employed in resolving the matter. He urged sincerity on the part of the interested parties and recommended a robust and peaceful conflict resolution approach. “For me there is no problem without solution. What is important is for the states to have a formidable conflict resolution team and the crisis will be resolved. “Dialogue and maturity are important in leadership and getting the right people from both sides to a roundtable with sincerity will just be enough. “Issues like that have come up in the past and they were amicably resolved,” he said. The state was declared an oil producing state on Aug. 30, 2012 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Obiano Tours Coched Farms, Assures of More Agro-Investors

The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano yesterday took a tour of Coched Farms in Anaku, Ayamelum Local Government Area and assured that the State would soon attract more prominent investors in the agricultural sector.

Hinting that Dangote may soon join the array of prominent investors looking for a foothold in the agricultural sector of the state, Governor Obiano further revealed that negotiations are going with some consulting firms in the Netherlands and Australia for the construction of an irrigation project that would support a three- cycle planting season in the area.

According to him, the state is on course to achieving food sufficiency in rice production and contributing significantly to efforts to reduce the rice supply deficit in the country.

Governor Obiano made this declaration recently while inspecting the 300-hectare rice field belonging to Coched Farms Limited, a subsidiary of Coscharis Limited, in Anaku, Ayamelum LGA of the state.
Coched Farms Limited, which is the largest commercial farm in the state with a total of 2,800 hectares of land for rice farming with a lake from which water is channeled to all parts for irrigation purposes.
Governor Obiano who spoke after touring the farm, observed that the project, a joint venture between the state government and Coched Farms, has within months of operation, put on ground significant efforts despite the enormous cost of clearing the land and creating access routes to all parts.

The Governor who noted that the state is at present producing 20,000 metric tons of Rice against the 300,000 metric tons that is consumed in the state, creating a gap of 240,000 metric tons, said when fully operational, the farm would produce about 150,000 while the production by out-grower farmers is expected to overturn the remaining deficit.
He expressed delight that the project is presently employing over one hundred and fifty people of Anaku Origin, adding that the government is fully exploring the potentials that abound in the state Agriculture sector to create abundant jobs and wealth creation opportunities for Ndi Anambra.

Governor Obiano who noted that the state Government is partnering Joseph’s Agro in a two hundred million Dollar rice project at Omasi in Ayamelum, further calling on other investors to key into the opportunities provided by the large expanse of arable land to invest in the state.
The Chairman, Coscharis Group, Chief Cosmas Maduka said they are collaborating with out-growers who they are providing improved rice seedlings and who in turn, is expected to produce 50% cent of the total production target required by the Rice Mill they would be constructing soon, adding that when it operates at full capacity, the total land area of the farm would be 508 Square kilometres.

On his part, the General Manager of the farm, Mr Bharat Dhir explained that the farm was constructed according to international standards, while every part of the farm has been well irrigated to support the full scale rice production.

This report of Government taxations and levies is one Obiano's government should handle with diplomacy.
They must first structure the taxations and/or levies in a very transparent manner. Maybe a card for each trader, the records both at tax office should be devoid of clouds. The tax collectors must be highly professional and seen to be men of integrity
Civic education campaigns must be undertaken, brought to the door steps of the traders with emphasis on what the tax could do for the State.


Obiano should be willing to prove that his tax regime will be different from what Mr Peter Obi and his uncle Nwobu-Alor Sylvester did otherwise traders will not pay and there will be trailer loads of court cases.


For the records, Peter Obi tax regime was the most dishonest in the history of Anambra State and had more resistance to it than all the previous administrations combined

Obiano does not play with that woman and will do anything to make her happy. She came to an event where past speaker Chinwe Nwaebili was been honored and Afam was there, when they gave her mic to address the public she start telling public of igwe mmadu that anybody that is eyeing APGA fed rep ticket in Ogbaru should forget it that it has been given to Chinwe.

The event was taking place at Ogbakuba the hometown of Chinwe, so when Igwe of Ogbakuba wanted to confer chieftancy title on Afam Ogene, Afam shunned because of what happened in previous event.

This was how the tide turned and Afam dumped APGA for APC.
