I think its high time the Nigerian Government reviewed its Foreign relation Policies with other countries especially South Africans . Its very embarassing hearing that common south africa is seizing nigeria's money , for what. Who the hell do dey tink dey are . I tink they are now biting more than they can chew , let's remind them that their multi national companies are very present here and if they don't return dos cash dey hav seized , MTN , DSTV , SHOP RITE , STANBIC IBTC and many more south African companies here in Nigeria will definitely pay the money back to the Nigerian Govt.

Your post is very stup1d. Why are you encouraging money lundary by the Nigeria government officials. Don't you know its a medium to steal to money by government officials. Its against international laws to transports large amount of money. This is the reason my former governor James ibori is in jail. If Nigeria was an advanced country, GEJ would have been impeached based on this case alone. Its wrong for the government of Nigeria to break its own laws and the law of south Africa. How would you feel if the government of SA breaks the law of Nigeria?

I'm on the ops side, countries do this, call it laundering or 'lundaring', its not today buying munition with cash started and everyone knows SA is the hub for ammunition sales in Africa! They will return the money, when dia gragra cools down.... Is it not the same way that they apologized after embarrassing and deporting Nigerian travelers in their country?

who are they fooling sef, they should better not bite off more than they can chew.

The constant threatening of South African investments in Nigeria only sends messages out to the global business community that Nigeria will eventually steal your company if there is a strain in the relationship between their home country and Nigeria and this will make investors more scared of coming in.

So, on the list of what makes investors scared of coming to Nigeria, which includes but is not limited to electricity, security, institutionalized corruption, skilled labor, double taxation, cost of business, infrastructure, we want to add distrust to it.

You people are geniuses

its against SA and most countries including Nigeria laws to carry more than 10k dollars for individual and 100k for organization into a country. I was just angry at the op because what he wrote makes no sense and dumb. He is encouraging corruption. Governments in the world dont do transactions between themselves in cash. They have so many means of payment. The Nigeria system is corrupt and flaw; this is the reason US government don't want to do arm business deal with Nigeria. Some Nigeria government officials are using this boko haram insurgency to make money for themselves. If that money was discovered in any country it would also be sized by their government. The UK did it to both Ibori and Alamesigha. SA is not trying to win some cheap political scores from Nigeria. Our government should stop breaking other countries and Nigeria laws.

Hey Dumba*s maybe where you're from its ok to break Laws but, everywhere else its illegal to bring in such a large sum of money in cash, and second point is The company your Government was planing on buying weapons from is not even registered to sell weapons, this whole deal was illegal from the start. And you blame us for being pissed off about it? We don't break your laws we respect your rules and we do business accordingly. We respect you and then you come to our country and sh*t on our laws and expect us to smile about it?

If Nigeria had approached our Government or went to the many *Registered* legitimate Arms dealers in S.A things would have been completely different, We know the kind of problems Nigeria is facing right now and we wouldn't have blocked you from buying Arms from us if you had done this properly.

or you missed the part that says the said company registered but their registration only recently expired, and the company had since requested for re-registration but haven't been granted?
So how will Nigerian govt know that their registration has expired? them be witch?
and u missed that part that says something about not been able to transfer the money due to some issues with bank? and they had to bring the money in cash.
Did you read about the matter at all?

]Why would they try to smuggle 9.3mil in cash, and dude if you're drivers license expires today and you're only going to get a new one next week, that doesn't mean that you are now aloud to drive, you fall under unregistered until you get a new license, that company was still considered to be unregistered.

that article only talks about the 5.7 million not the, 9.3 mill. And it only says City Press has released documents, it doesn't quote anything from the City Press article or provides a copy of the documents, and the ONSA who approved the deal is the one from Nigeria not South Africa, the South African Government didn't approve the deal, and why did they have to transport the deal in Cash? Nigeria has recently acquired Mi-35 Attack Helicopters from Russia and all the transactions were done Electronically, So what stopped them from doing the same thing when trying to buy weapons from S.A, It doesn't make sense.

You thought SA is a banana republic just like your country, No. There is a rule of law and Nigeria is aware of that rule. Nigeria has similar rule as well, go do some research before coming here to speak nonsense.

Let Nigeria try to do something with SA companies, they would be chasing all investors out of Nigeria, and there wont be any potential investors who will wish to invest in a risky country where they can loose money. So its who needs who the most, SA or Nigeria.

Besides, those companies pay tax to the state.

Buffoon, An allegation of money laundering is simply that until proven otherwise. Instead of you to admit that your government is looking for ways to fill their treasury or are pissed of because a bunch of your gullible citizens troop to a pastor in Naija looking for miracles and lost their lives.

The money ($5.7 million) came from the government and was transferred to a "private" SA company that could not fulfill their obligation to procure weapons because their license expired in May 2014. A "covert" procurement or arms is not necessarily illegal when you have an "unofficial" embargo of procuring weapons by the so called World powers.

They were asked to return the money and in the process of returning money back to Nigeria, SA customs (government of S) seizes the money en route on the suspicion that "it was not declared" and not necessarily that they had any evidence that this was money laundering.

If this is the case isn't it sensible to follow diplomatic protocol and give reasonable course for the explanation of the funds and if deemed sufficient and not illegal, return funds back

A cheap attempt to score points for your Euro/Western trade masters and a terribly flimsy attempt to embarrass Nigeria due to this "imagined" rivalry btw the two countries.

You will pay the price. Naija no dey carry last.

You want beef, bring it!

The point of the cash is not the issue. You don't fly in that much money like that. Hell why not use diplomatic parcel. Those can not be searched. Your government make a mistake not our. We where doing our job. Any case we sell lost of military hardware to Nigeria, there is no issue there.
