“This society will explode and implode, there will be violence, there will be mayhem, unless politicians start thinking rationally.”

Ben Murray Bruce may have prophesied the future with his above statement.

Hope our wicked and hard of hearing LootoCrats are paying attention.

This is feedback from a consumer perspective. What it simply means is "do something about it"! Especially your news casters.

[quote author=shady26 post=27504917]this man stands a better chance winning the presidential elections than the present crop of politicians we have contesting for it. his few words even made more sense and has better direction than all the useless paper read foolish declarations with rented crowds we have witnessed so far.

I don't think he stands a better chance considering the Nigerian political settings. Remember he lost woefully at the primaries for Bayelsa governorship election. Can he play politics the way Nigerian career politicians play it?

If he continues to be a gentleman, I doubt if he will make much impact in the political scene as he has done in entertainment.

He has seen that in Nigeria, you must have political power. That's why he's trying to gain it. I don't know much about Bayelsa but I'll like to know what impact he has made on the common man there with his achievements in the business world.

Politics is quite different from running a business. In politics, you need to show you really care for the people you intend to govern. He is a good business man...agreed, but is he going to make a better politician, I doubt it.

Yes I have internet...and I can afford to buy up all your father's property but am not contesting for any political posts and am not lamenting the poverty of my "people" without making any direct impact in their lives. The beauty pageant he hosts, does he not make money from them? Or are you telling me its a charitable event.

Don't qoute me again unless you have something intelligent to say

I second your opinion. He can choose which direction his business goes. He can decide who to involve in his decision making and when. His purpose of running a business is to make profit and he has a target market for that.
However, holding a public/elected position is different. He has to involve both the rich and the poor. His decision making has to be all inclusive. I doubt if his success in business can translate to success in politics considering the fact that Nigerian politics is very dirty and not a 1 man show.

Widespread poverty indeed.

The present set of leaders in Africa are all #short term horizon. Too bad, they cannot learn from the past.

Anybody just wake and declare his intention to be the next gov, senator... Afterall they are citizens and are qualified.

aptly said, Uncle Ben Bruce is a man with much wisdom. sadly our society promotes mediocrity and we are so used to being ruled by charlatans and imbeciles...... wish Uncle ben Bruce best of luck (tho i know dey will "never" give him the senatorial ticket)

For those separating politics from business, arguing that Bruce being a good businessman does not translate to good politician,i have this to tell you. Bruce manages a good business empire that harnesses the skills of numerous talented people, translates it to profits .in return these young ones are well paid to live their dream lives (Financial emancipation& wealth creation).
In the Nigerian context we need someone with enough acumen and business savvy to translate our numerous human and natural resources to wealth for the nation and its citizens instead of someone who just knows how to dole out money for contracts for which he receives our foolish applauses. next election we see this neuseating banner saying "LET US DOlE MORE" !
Nigerians you need to start accepting that development comes only when we have people with Developed minds and proven records of success managing the country and not those perceived as philantreopists!
