President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria: I promise

Speaking with United Nations diplomats on Monday, 31st January 2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, President Goodluck Jonathan made this promise:

“If I’m voted into power, within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make a significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything…”

About four years after, the promise is yet to be fulfilled. Be the judge…

Working on it? For how long? Didn't he know before making that promise? The most interesting thing was that he was in power before making that promise. He had first hand information about it. Nobody forced him to make that promise.

Nobody forced him to make that statement. There is time account for promises made.

He shud hav knwn better dan to mak a promise he knew he cudn't fulfil, cos he was already in govt as vice president, acting president and president b4 den.

As far as d power sector is concerned, GEJ has FAILED woefully, jst like his predecessors. Dat's why recently, i no longer listen to any govt promise of improving d power sector.

Promises mean nothing in nigeria. It is a way of buying time to steal and go. It is our culture and character.
